Chapter 455: Return to Jade City_2
```
Returning to the Elf Royal Court to rescue Cecil and the other two was already a huge risk he had taken.
Lis glanced at the emotionally downcast Cecil and, after a moment's thought, decided not to comfort the Elf girl further.
Cecil wasn't the type to dwell on things obsessively; giving her some space might actually make her feel a bit better at this time.
"What should we do next?"
Bella looked at Lis, seeking his opinion.
Although Bella and Mil appeared calm, Lis could clearly see flames of intense hatred in their eyes.
This was the frenzied loathing for the Demon Prince Demogorgon, the one who destroyed their homeland they relied on for survival and killed their dearest kin.
If their deaths could bring about the death of Demogorgon, Lis believed that Bella and Mil would sacrifice their lives without a moment's hesitation.
But that prince was a powerful being with divine power, an unsurpassable existence in both the Endless Abyss and the Gaia World.
Even if the invasion of the Endless Abyss into the Gaia World failed in the future, and many deities fell and died, the Demon Prince did not perish but returned to the Endless Abyss to plot his next resurgence.
"My idea is to go directly to Jade City."
Lis nodded slightly, saying seriously:
"The current situation at the Elf Royal Court is uncertain, and the events that have occurred there have already been communicated to Goddess Fenrir through prayer. I believe the Elf Kingdom will not stand idly by."
"At this time, it's better for us to wait for news in Jade City."
Lis had his reasons for this as well. Logically, going to the Elf Capital would be more appropriate, but that place was ultimately where the Elf Kingdom's strength was most formidable.
With the identity of a World Tree's Favored, Lis wasn't afraid that the Elf Kingdom would take action against him, but he was concerned that his movements might be restricted because of his status.
After all, the World Tree held a significance in the Elf Clan that was extraordinary; the status of a World Tree Favored even ranked higher than that of a favored one of the Elf Gods.
He still had many things to do and couldn't stay in the Elf Kingdom indefinitely.
Going to Jade City was a good idea; if all else failed, it was closer to the border of the Elf Forest, making it easier for him to sneak away if he wanted to.
"Okay."
Bella and Mil had no other suggestions and agreed with Lis's proposal.
After all, Lis was Human, not an Elf, and at this point, he had undoubtedly earned Bella's and Mil's utmost trust; there was no need to worry about him having any other ulterior motives.
Moreover, Lis had become a World Tree Favored, something they had previously not even dared to dream of.
Having too many shocking things to accept in a short time left both of their minds somewhat dazed.
Lis asked them to rest well and went to sit next to Cecil.
"Don't be too sad."
"Lady Arianna wished until the very end that you could live well."
Lis didn't say much else, just watching as the glistening tears slid down the Elf girl's cheek, staying silently by her side.
To Lis, Lady Arianna, Cecil's mother, was a person deserving of great respect.
Compared to Lis, who entered the illusion later, she had been misled and deceived by the illusion to a far greater degree, yet she relied on her own will and love for Cecil to break through that barrier, giving Lis the final hint.
This allowed Lis to snap back to reality at the last moment; otherwise, he would have succumbed to the illusion, waiting for the culmination of all of Demogorgon's plans.
Cecil looked at Lis, feeling incredibly complex and troubled at the moment.
Everything she experienced in the illusion was almost the most beautiful thing imaginable: the attitudes of those around her, as well as her experiences with Lis, constituted the future she had longed for in her dreams.
Waking up from the illusion of marrying Lis and receiving everyone's blessing, only to be told that it was all false and that the only two family members she had left were also taken away from her due to the actions of the Evil God.
```
The fact that Cecil, a young elf girl who had just come of age, found it incredibly difficult to accept the cruel reality she faced made her want to hide away and flee from it.
Even in her heart, she longed for the bliss of remaining forever in an illusion if she could.
It would be nothing short of the most beautiful dream!
However, when she lifted her head and looked at Lis beside her, Cecil felt a slightly different warmth in her heart.
Though Lis didn't say much, it reminded Cecil of how dire the circumstances must have been at the Elf Royal Court then; and yet, Lis had returned to the Elf Royal Court and managed to bring her out safely despite all dangers.
It could almost be considered as risking one's life!
At a loss for words, Cecil sat beside Lis in silence, sharing no further words, yet this silence provided her with the greatest support.
Angela also stayed obediently to the side, until at last the sleepy Little Bat finally dozed off on top of Lis's head.
...
Jade City,
The bustling caravans flowed ceaselessly as usual, entering this thriving elf metropolis endlessly, yet for some reason, the stewards and guards within the caravans always felt that the atmosphere around them seemed much more oppressive.
Some well-informed individuals had received, through previous channels, the news of the demise of the Elf Royal Court at the hands of the Demon Prince, and they were so shocked that they were at a loss for words.
They immediately instructed the others in their caravans to act swiftly in trading and purchasing goods, unconcerned even if it meant sustaining some losses.
The Elf Kingdom was naturally enraged by the destruction of the Elf Royal Court Jonor City; although they wanted to keep the news hidden, they were ultimately powerless to do so.
The position of the Elf Royal Court was simply too special; many extraordinary forces were aware of its location, and a mere visit could reveal the truth.
Moreover, many of the Church of the Gods had already received relevant information from the deities they worshipped.
The True God Church, concerned that the Abyss Evil God would target their core Holy City just as Demogorgon destroyed the Elf Royal Court, naturally intensified their search and crackdown on Evil God believers.
The Evil God Church, on the other hand, was greatly excited; if the Demon Prince could achieve such a deed, there was no reason they couldn't. They just needed to set their sights a bit lower, that's all.
The impact of Demon Prince Demogorgon's destruction of the Elf Royal Court was only just beginning to spread, and it sent shockwaves throughout the Gaia World.
The adverse effects of this event were no longer confined to a single continent; everyone was starting to glimpse the corner of a future era that seemingly prophesied an era of Chaos and madness.
Lis paid no attention to these matters; the time of true Chaos was still far from arriving.
He saw the kingdoms on the Fanor Continent waging war against each other as insignificant compared to the tumult that was to come.
This time returning to Jade City, Lis no longer concealed his Mage identity and directly chose to use Space Teleportation to bring the three of them back to the outskirts of Jade City.
For safety, he had left fixed space coordinates in many places beforehand.
Although such long-distance teleportation with others was quite challenging, it wasn't much for the greatly enhanced strength of Lis.
His previous concealment of power was in order to deceive certain ill-intentioned individuals within the Elf Royal Court; though in the end he only fooled Elder Ricardo, it had served some purpose.
After all, in hindsight, the decision for him to go to the Elf Royal Court was likely made by Demogorgon masquerading as Pompey. If someone were to connect this to Mr. Stephens's matters and the events in Ice Peak City from these minor details, unforeseen complications could arise.
As for the unusual looks from Cecil and the others, Lis simply ignored them.
It wasn't strange for them to see him in such a light; up to that point, his strength as a warrior had already earned their trust and admiration.
Now, with a spread of Lis's hands, he discarded the Longsword, took out the Magic Wand, and informed them that he was, in fact, a Mage, which certainly exceeded their imaginations.
However, due to the numerous surprises they had gone through in a short span, this shock too passed quickly.
Upon arriving in Jade City, Lis and his companions did not rest but immediately made their way toward the heart of Jade City.
There lay both the Jade City Council and the Elf Holy Hall, the most crucial locations of Jade City.
Yet before they could reach their destination, they were intercepted on their way.
