Chapter 404: Separation and Raid_3
"I won't hide it from you, Daphne's identity is quite special, you rescued her from the Slave Catching Team."
"If possible, we would sincerely like to express our gratitude to you."
Cendelle looked at Lis, speaking earnestly.
"Haha, Cendelle, you don't have to be so formal, it makes me somewhat uncomfortable."
Lis laughed it off, smiling as he spoke.
Given Cendelle's demeanor, Daphne's identity seemed to be very special.
Moreover, it was true, after all, Daphne directly addressed the Elf Great Sage as her sister, which was quite special indeed.
"Cecil and I are planning to head to the Bolin Kingdom, so we will not be going to Jade City with you all."
Lis shook his head as he spoke.
Seeing this, Cendelle did not insist, instead, she took out a green token and handed it to Lis.
"Regardless, I am still very thankful for your help."
"This is my token, should you come to Jade City next time, you can come find me."
Lis didn't hesitate, taking the token from Cendelle's hands, gently caressing the exquisite patterns on it.
It seemed to even contain some of Cendelle's Magic Power, quite special indeed.
Seeing this, Cendelle turned to look at Cecil and, after a moment's deliberation, said:
"Cecil, if you have the time, do visit Jade City, Mr. Igley really misses you."
"Hmm."
Cecil softly responded, his expression somewhat complex.
Lis, seeing this, did not say more.
Silently, Cendelle appeared a bit rushed as she then led Daphne and her teammates toward Jade City.
When Daphne left, she still quietly waved at Lis, seemingly having a good impression of him.
Lis watched their departing figures, waiting until they disappeared from sight before he turned to Cecil and said:
"Won't you let Cendelle bring a letter to your father?"
"It might be more appropriate this way?"
Upon hearing this, Cecil shook his head and said:
"Let's not, I don't know Miss Cendelle's relationship with my father, and many do not understand my father."
"Rather than giving it to Miss Cendelle whom I've just met, I trust you more, Mr. Lis."
"Okay then."
Lis didn't mind, as he was going to accompany Cecil anyway.
After preparing briefly, the two of them continued their journey towards the Bolin Kingdom.
...
Several days later,
Lis stood atop a towering tree, gazing into the distance.
From this vantage point, the Forest Sea gradually thinned out in the distance, and on the horizon near the river bank's plain, Lis could barely make out several figures busily harvesting some kind of fruit, thanks to the vision boost from "Eagle Eye".
This was already the edge of the Elf Forest, and beyond this lay the territory of the Bolin Kingdom.
"We're almost out of the Elf Forest!"
Lis leaped down from the tree, speaking to Cecil who was sitting and resting.
"Got it, we're finally almost there."
Cecil stretched out his hand to wipe the fine sweat beads from his fair forehead, looking somewhat tired.
For him, as a mage, this kind of long-distance, high-speed travel was quite taxing.
Fortunately, being an Elf, he had some agility bonuses, and the aid of various Support Magic spells, otherwise he really might not have been able to make it.
That was still under the assumption that Lis dealt with all the Magic Beasts they encountered.
Whoosh~
A shadow suddenly appeared, shooting straight at Cecil.
Lis appeared in front of Cecil, swinging his sword to deflect the incoming Shadow Short Blade.
The confrontation had finally arrived!
