Ch. 89
Chapter 89: Class Condensation
「What’s wrong?」Gauss was puzzled.
「Nothing, I just wanted to say—when you’re condensing your Class Rank, if you need some medicinal herbs or potions, I can help provide them.」
「Condensing Class Rank needs herbs and potions?」Gauss asked curiously.
「It’s not absolutely necessary, but with the right supplements, it can accelerate the process of condensing Class Rank, and even slightly improve the outcome,」Lawrence explained, seeing that he didn’t understand.「Apprentice Spellcasters like us need to replenish with brain-focusing foods or potions. Warriors would need strength-enhancing tonics. Apprentices of other Professions each have their own required supplements.」
「Got it,」Gauss nodded.「Then I’ll trouble you with the shopping.」
Lawrence’s family ran an herb shop, and after spending time together recently, Gauss felt he wasn’t the kind to cut corners. If he could help with the shopping, it would save Gauss a lot of trouble.
「No trouble at all.」
Lawrence felt relieved that Gauss accepted his offer.
It also showed that Gauss wasn’t too distant with him.
After that Dungeon expedition, everyone in the Small Team understood—Gauss’s future was limitless.
He wouldn’t stop at merely crossing the Professional threshold, but would continue moving forward, toward sights they might never see in their entire lives.
Building ties with him now meant building ties with a future high-tier Professional.
「This meal is on me, no one argue with me,」Edith finally caught on and quickly stood up.「Thank you for saving me, Gauss. If you ever need anything from me, just reach out anytime.」
As she spoke, she also winked at Gauss.
Sometimes, being helped could become an opportunity to deepen relationships.
Isn’t that what interpersonal interaction was all about—a mutual exchange?
Inside a simple three-story red-brick building.
「Bang!」
An Acid Orb hit Gauss’s body, the dark green acid splashing out.
「Tssp, tssp!」
The Mage Armor on Gauss’s body emitted ripples of light, with threads of white smoke constantly rising from his skin.
It looked scary, but it never managed to pierce the protection of Mage Armor.
Gauss raised his hand, stopping the apprentice in front of him from continuing to cast the Cantrip.
The apprentice ceased his spellcasting, and seeing the excitement and joy on Gauss’s face, was at first confused, but after a moment looked at Gauss with disbelief.
「Yes, I did it,」Gauss laughed heartily.「Thanks for your help.」
After several more days of practice, Mage Armor’s proficiency finally broke through 1v3 and successfully advanced to lv4.
Mage Armor 1v4 (0/100)
Gauss could feel the natural Magical Energy in the world gathering bit by bit into his body. A glint of brilliance flashed in his eyes.
What a wondrous feeling.
It felt as if some exalted force from the void was watching him.
He hurried toward the Spellcaster Mutual‑aid Association’s training chamber.
He pushed open the door and entered.
Inside, there was already a large amount of supplements and food stocked up that Lawrence had helped him purchase. Especially the small deep blue potion bottle in the middle of the shelf—it was the most expensive.
Just the cost price of the 【Mind Nourishing Potion】 was 95 silver coins per bottle. It could rapidly provide the nutrients his brain needed during critical moments.
Many Apprentice Spellcasters, if they could afford it, would prepare a bottle in advance for the condensing process.
Not that it was strictly necessary.
But condensing a Class Rank was a transitional phase—what others called an Invocation.
During this process, the World Will would bestow a gift to every apprentice who was about to advance into a Professional, helping them improve physical attributes and eventually condense a Class Rank within the body, marking their formal entry into the Professional threshold.
Without targeted supplements, this 【Invocation】 process would take longer. Physical attributes would gradually increase over time, perhaps quickly, perhaps slowly, and there was even a chance of failure.
Gauss sat on the bed in the training chamber.
He felt his state becoming strange, his brain unusually active, as if it had been refreshed.
New thoughts constantly bubbled up in his mind at every moment, like a child facing a brand-new world, full of all sorts of ideas.
In front of Gauss, the prompt text of the Adventurer’s Handbook also began to refresh frequently.
「Condensing Class Rank in progress...
「Intelligence slightly increasing.
「Constitution slightly increasing.
「Mage Armor proficiency +1」
「Mage Armor proficiency +1」
White breath escaped from Gauss’s mouth.
A mysterious power, like an invisible giant hand, was continuously transforming both his body and spirit!
So hungry!
Wasn’t this supposed to be a slow, continuous process?
Gauss had originally prepared for a prolonged retreat, expecting to be shut in for several days or more.
But he hadn’t expected the feedback from the transformation to come so suddenly and urgently.
Fortunately, this training chamber was fully equipped, not only stocked with large amounts of daily supplies and supplements, but also including a rest area, washroom, and other spaces.
He got up and grabbed some drinking water and food, stuffing large mouthfuls into his mouth.
So hungry! So hungry!
Gauss felt like he was being consumed by an overwhelming sense of hunger! If there were a chunk of meat in front of him, he felt he could grab and gnaw it raw.
Thankfully, he had prepared plenty of supplies in advance. Otherwise, following others’ slower-paced experience would’ve doomed him.
「Pffft!」While eating, Gauss suddenly had a nosebleed.
But he didn’t dare stop eating, as the hunger within kept urging him to devour more!
Eat! Keep eating!
Gauss didn’t even know how much food he had eaten—he was simply following his instincts and consuming without pause.
Dried meat strips, oatmeal porridge, bread, nuts, water, medicinal cakes, tonic pills, Mind Nourishing Potion—he devoured them all.
「Hic!」Gauss let out a full hiccup.
Strangely, even though he had eaten an amount of food and supplements that would’ve lasted an ordinary person several weeks, his abdomen hadn’t swollen excessively.
It was as if the food had all disappeared.
Luckily, that intense hunger had been suppressed.
He was alive again!
Gauss let out a sigh of relief.
Just after finishing his rations and preparing to grab other supplies, he looked at his own arm and even felt the urge to bite it savagely.
Fortunately, he held back in the end.
After consuming so much food, Gauss quickly felt an overwhelming drowsiness.
Every cell in his body seemed to be urging him to rest.
Eat then sleep? So this is the process of condensing Class Rank?
Gauss shook his head, but he knew that during such critical moments, he shouldn’t resist his instincts.
Because at this time, those instincts were actually the guidance of the World Will itself. Resisting them meant rejecting the help offered by the World Will.
He locked the door.
Gauss returned to the bed and lay down.
He closed his eyes.
Within just a few breaths, he quickly sank into a baby-like sleep.
Lying on the bed, his chest rising and falling, he was clearly in a sleep state, but his cerebral cortex was extremely active, constantly releasing a flood of signals and hormones.
After his consciousness sank into deep sleep, his body began to emit a faint pure white glow, like a layer of Omni Protection firmly guarding his slumbering form.
Beside him, the Bone Wand was also faintly glowing.
Inside his body, the originally stream-like Magical Energy was washing through him, and even as it flowed, it rapidly expanded in a very short time.
Each time it circulated through his body, the Magical Energy expanded by another layer!
And at this moment, the Rapid Digestion talent happened to be providing massive logistical support to the virus-like, rapidly proliferating Magical Energy.
Moreover, it wasn’t just the Magical Energy that was changing.
If an outsider were present, they would sense that the air around the sleeping Gauss had begun to distort, making him appear blurry, like seeing flowers through mist.
The dust particles floating in the air around him suddenly vanished without a trace, and even the ants and mosquitoes crawling under the bed froze in place.
It was as if the entire space was being suppressed by an invisible force!
