Chapter 60: Product Launch
After Misaka Mikoto and Kamijou Touma's playful fight ended, Selene was left feeling numb from the spectacle of their flirting. With a sense of fatigue, she returned to the bedroom of her manor and collapsed heavily onto her bed.
Earlier, she had a vague idea, a thought of having a battle with Kamijou Touma, but decided against it, thinking it better not to provoke Aleister further.
Besides, some might underestimate Kamijou Touma, thinking he only relies on the Imagine Breaker and is personally weak.
From Selene's understanding of Kamijou Touma, his true strength isn't the Imagine Breaker, nor the hidden side, nor the World Rejecter.
From a god's-eye view, we might see Kamijou Touma's abilities as overpowered, but in his daily life, he only knows that his right hand can nullify abilities with touch. If Kamijou Touma's inner strength weren't formidable, even knowing the essence of his abilities, he'd retreat.
Kamijou Touma's true strength lies in his heart, his unwavering fighting spirit, and his unmatched mental strength in the Raildex series. It's not because of his right hand that he's so active, but rather his very existence that allows the power in his right hand to thrive.
Even if an ordinary person obtained the Imagine Breaker, do you have the courage to accept endless bad luck, the bravery to face formidable enemies? Kamijou Touma has almost died countless times on his journey.
Selene, on the other hand, admits she lacks such courage. She is self-aware, cowardly, and values her life. She doesn't have a hero's spirit.
Though she respects Kamijou Touma's will and spirit, she doesn't aspire to be like him. She doesn't intend to interfere with the Raildex world and has no conflicts with Kamijou Touma. As long as he doesn't provoke her, she won't provoke him.
In reality, if Selene wanted, she could avoid any involvement with Mikoto Misaka.
Therefore, Selene's mingling with Mikoto Misaka has a purpose. Although there's a trace of affection, it's more driven by motives. As a refined egoist, Selene is far from being a saint.
At this moment, as Selene pondered over these thoughts, she slowly closed her eyes, drifting into a dream.
This dream wasn't just any dream. Normally, people can't control their dreams; they passively experience them, often reflecting daily thoughts.
However, Selene's dream is under her control, used primarily for reflection, summarization, and contemplation, akin to the "braindance" in Cyberpunk 2077. It helps her identify gaps while accelerating sleep and improving sleep efficiency.
It's one of Selene's little inventions, very convenient.
As Selene was about to fall asleep, her phone suddenly rang.
"Hmm?"
"BOSS, I have good news to share with you." Shuji Matsuzaki's joyful voice came through the phone.
Selene raised an eyebrow, initially wanting to express some annoyance but became intrigued upon hearing about good news. Given Shuji Matsuzaki's character, he wouldn't disturb her at this hour unless it was a significant breakthrough.
"Matsuzaki, since when did you learn to keep people in suspense? Let me guess, then. Hmm... this so-called good news, could it be that you've completed the experimental differentiation and weakening of the T-R1 compound? That would indeed be fantastic news."
"Yes, BOSS, you've seen through it all. We've achieved the targets you set. We did not fail you," Shuji Matsuzaki replied with a relaxed laugh upon hearing Selene's jest.
"Moreover, with Sebastian's operations, it should be ready for market launch soon. Shall we have a meeting to finalize the details?"
"Excellent. Inform the relevant personnel; we'll convene at the Destiny Institute in half an hour!" Selene snapped her fingers. "If everything goes smoothly, we won't need to worry about finances for a long time."
"Understood!"
Selene took a deep breath, hung up the phone, and slowly sat up. "Today's indeed full of good fortune, getting everything I need."
...
"Miss, you're here." As Selene arrived at the meeting room, Sebastian, who had been waiting for a while, immediately came forward to greet her.
Selene nodded, "Is everyone here?"
"They are. Shuji Matsuzaki and the others are waiting in the conference room. I'll take you there now."
The next moment, the security robots stationed at the door opened the meeting room door.
"BOSS." With Selene's entrance, the room fell silent, and everyone quickly stood to greet her.
"Shuji Matsuzaki, how is it?" Selene smiled, signaling everyone to sit and got straight to the point. "What about your research results?"
"It's ready." Shuji Matsuzaki, seated in the front row, picked up a metal briefcase from the conference table, walked to Selene, and placed it on the table.
With a click, the metal briefcase was opened by Shuji Matsuzaki, revealing rows of colorless, transparent ampoules, each labeled with its corresponding treatment.
"Please look..." Shuji Matsuzaki took one out, flicked it with his fingers, and the liquid inside the ampoule gently swirled. From Selene's position, faint purple light shimmered within, dreamy and magical.
"As you wished, the initial version of the T-R1 compound has been differentiated and weakened."
Selene took the ampoule, examining it closely, before looking up again. "How effective is it?"
"It depends on dosage and symptom type," Shuji Matsuzaki considered before replying. "Generally, 5ML is sufficient for common ailments. More stubborn conditions require repeated injections. The larger the dose, the longer the effect lasts."
"According to your standards, a standard dosage is 5ML, with a one-year efficacy. Of course, patients don't necessarily need repeated injections. If they recover within the efficacy period through self-healing, further injections aren't needed..."
At this point, Shuji Matsuzaki bowed apologetically. "I'm sorry, BOSS. I couldn't ensure patient proactivity."
"Minor issue. I'm very pleased with your results," Selene said nonchalantly. Reaching this level was already impressive. She didn't mind potential financial losses if some people relied on the medication to maintain life and self-heal afterward.
Selene then accepted the various medication formulas and production methods, skimmed through them, and patted Shuji Matsuzaki's shoulder. "Thank you, Matsuzaki."
"Thank you!" Without further ado, Selene turned her attention to discussing the product launch with the attendees.
Here, the meeting was led by Sebastian, as this fell under his purview. Selene trusted him and naturally left the matters to him.
Although Selene didn't fully grasp all the strategies and conditions discussed, she knew that the human repair compound would spread from today.
