Chapter 457: Chapter 457: The Pegasus God, Pegasus! Profit from the War Between the Sanctuary and the Underworld!
Boom!!!
A surge of divine power erupted across the mortal realm.
In that moment, all the gods felt it.
Even more, they were stunned.
"The God-Slaying Power?"
Athena's eyes widened in surprise. She hadn't anticipated the appearance of the God-Slaying Power at this precise moment.
The God-Slaying Thunder.
The God-Slaying Fire.
The former was created by Koios, essentially a martial technique with the power to slay gods. The latter was Hades' adaptation of the God-Slaying Thunder, also a kind of martial technique.
These were the two forces within the Greek Pantheon that could genuinely harm, even kill, gods, targeting their essence and core.
But the God-Slaying Power was different.
Fundamentally, the God-Slaying Power was a force birthed directly by the Mythical World itself, specifically designed to target gods. Regardless of their level, if a god were to be completely shattered by this force, they would face true death, an irreversible end.
This absolute, fatal nature made the God-Slaying Power uniquely terrifying. Its capacity to inflict damage upon the gods was beyond anything else.
This was the dreadful quality of the God-Slaying Power.
The timing of its appearance was particularly puzzling, however.
The Pegasus God, Pegasus! Born of Poseidon and Medusa, this deity, as the Pegasus God, wielded the God-Slaying Power.
But the problem was…
Medusa hadn't yet come into existence at this point, so how could Pegasus be born? Besides, given Poseidon's current circumstances, it was uncertain whether he'd even have time to sire Pegasus with Medusa.
So then…
Athena pondered this mystery and whispered to herself, "In other words, the Mythical World itself has instigated the birth of the God-Slaying Power, intending for humanity to wield it against the gods, aiding them in achieving victory in this racial war."
"Then…"
"The one who wields this God-Slaying Power will surely be a powerful hero."
"Hm…"
As Athena considered this, a spark lit in her eyes.
What if she seized this opportunity? If she could capture the God-Slaying Power, she could bring it under her control and make the hero who wields it her subordinate deity.
Athena weighed the feasibility of this plan.
The more she thought about it, the more promising it seemed. As one of the four God-Kings who had refrained from joining the racial war, the Mythical World would likely trust her intentions.
With a steady breath, Athena murmured, "In that case, I must bring the God-Slaying Power under the Sanctuary's control. With this power in hand, the Sanctuary would have a formidable trump card, an advantage that could greatly elevate its influence."
Athena was certain of this.
If the Sanctuary gained the God-Slaying Power, it would be a game-changing asset.
While both the God-Slaying Thunder and Fire were formidable, their effectiveness depended on the wielder's strength. The God-Slaying Power, however, was absolute; as long as one did not surpass a certain threshold, it would spell real danger if underestimated.
Of course, since the God-Slaying Power was a creation of the Mythical World, its reach was limited to the level of Ancient Gods. Additionally, with enough preparation, an Ancient God could nullify its effects.
In contrast, the God-Slaying Thunder and Fire, being martial techniques cultivated by gods, grew stronger with the user's power. This made them far more potent in equal-level confrontations.
Yet for Athena, those possibilities lay too far in the future. Her current focus was on bringing the God-Slaying Power under her control and into the Sanctuary.
And with that resolve, Athena began to act.
Meanwhile, in the Pure Land, Persephone sensed the unique divine force and murmured in surprise, "Husband, is this the birth of the God-Slaying Power?"
"Yes, this is the God-Slaying Power," Hades replied calmly, gazing into the distance. He could tell that the Mythical World itself had induced its creation; no other force could produce such an outcome.
Persephone then suggested, "Should we consider bringing the Mythical World under the control of the Underworld?"
"There's no need," Hades replied coolly. "The Mythical World wouldn't allow the God-Slaying Power to enter the Underworld. Besides, the God-Slaying Power is tied to the Pegasus constellation, linked inherently to one of the 88 Saints of the Sanctuary. If it were brought to the Underworld, it could bring us great risk."
"A shame, truly."
Persephone sighed, disappointed. The God-Slaying Power would have been highly useful in the Underworld. However, she didn't dwell on it. The God-Slaying Power, while formidable, could be dealt with if managed carefully.
After all, Persephone rarely left the Underworld. Was it likely that the God-Slaying Power could reach her? Hardly! Now, what mattered most was the racial war. Though the Underworld hadn't actively participated, it unexpectedly found itself reaping substantial gains.
Indeed!
Much like the Sanctuary, the Underworld was benefiting greatly!
