I Am A Wizard Who Can Travel Between Earth And The Other World

Chapter 117 Skybound Encounters

There were theaters, gaming centers, and even karaoke rooms, all designed to entertain travelers. One could almost forget they were in an airport.

Jay, noticing Gin's wide-eyed fascination, chuckled. "First time in a place like this, huh? Let me guess, you've never been to the harbor either?"

Gin gave him a puzzled look. "Harbor? I didn't think this city had access to the sea."

Jay snickered. "Oh, no, no. The real sea is a whole different beast. The creatures living out there are terrifying—giant sea monsters that can capsize entire ships with ease."

Gin listened intently as Gin explained the dangers of the vast oceans in the hidden world. Ancient sea beasts and tidal waves had wiped entire coastal cities off the map centuries ago, turning most of humanity's settlements inland.

However, certain cities thrived near colossal inland lakes where conditions were far more manageable.

These lakes were still home to magical beasts, but they were nothing compared to their oceanic counterparts.

"Anyway, I wasn't talking about a regular harbor. I meant the airship port,"Jay clarified.

"Airship?" Gin's eyes lit up with curiosity.

"Yup. Slower than planes, but they can carry massive amounts of cargo all at once."

Gin said nothing, intrigued by the concept. Clearly, these airships were unlike the primitive dirigibles he had read about back on Earth.

"They have their drawbacks though—like low altitude. That makes them vulnerable to aerial monsters," Jay continued. "Planes fly too high for most creatures to reach, but airships aren't so lucky. Still, there aren't many flying beasts, so it's not as dangerous as it sounds."

"Maybe we'll get a job at the airship port one day," Jay added. "They always need people to protect cargo from those monsters."

The two continued chatting until they reached their destination: the boarding gate. Looking around, Jay commented, "Looks like they aren't here yet."

"We're early," Gin noted, raising an eyebrow. He distinctly remembered Gin complaining about how late they would be after waiting for Gin to prepare.

Gin scratched his head sheepishly. "Well... we're only about fifteen minutes early."

Gin debated whether to scold him, but before he could decide, a large group approached. The delegation from the Jungle company had arrived.

Eighteen people in total, Gin quickly assessed. Fifteen were clearly mercenaries or ability users hired for protection, while the remaining three appeared to be Jungle company's executives, including their representative.

Without much effort, Gin expanded his mana field, allowing him to scan their strengths with precision. The clarity and ease of this process surprised even him.

'Twelve of them are competent, and three are exceptional,' he thought. Those three likely came from other contracts, just like he had been hired.

While Gin evaluated the newcomers, Jay walked over to greet the representative, eventually beckoning Jay over.

"This is Mage Gin," Gin introduced.

The leader of the group stepped forward and extended his hand. "Caden, representing Jungle Company."

shaking his hand firmly.

Without wasting time, Caden gestured toward the gate. "Let's board. We're on a tight schedule."

The group moved swiftly, heading toward the departure gate. Gin stayed behind, waving at Gin with a grin. "Safe travels! I'll be here digging for more exciting jobs."

Gin merely raised a hand in acknowledgment before following the group.

Behind him, Gin muttered to himself, "Ah, I forgot to tell him to bring me back some sweets. Okarita's cookies and candies are supposed to be legendary…"

The boarding process was remarkably similar to airports on Earth.

The gate connected directly to the plane via a jet bridge, but there were no customs or passport inspections. Instead, a simple ID check sufficed, likely cross-referencing any criminal records.

'Is it because there are no formal countries here?' Gin wondered, finding the security measures somewhat lax. Still,

he sensed numerous magical signatures throughout the plane—likely integrated into its components and safety systems.

As the plane ascended steadily, Gin kept his gaze fixed on the window, taking in the vast landscape of the hidden world beneath him. This flight was a rare opportunity to observe the mysterious, expansive land he now called home.

The airport was located on the outskirts of West Ham, though "outskirts" seemed a misnomer for how well-organized and developed the surrounding area appeared.

Beyond the airport grounds stretched vast plains of golden fields, rolling endlessly toward the horizon. Soon, a massive forest emerged, its dense canopy sprawling so far that even from the sky, the end of it was indiscernible.

The aircraft continued to climb, and before long, the world below disappeared beneath a sea of clouds. With nothing but the endless white expanse outside his window, Gin oo leaned back and pondered how to spend the rest of the flight.

Perhaps a movie would help pass the time, he mused idly, but his thoughts were interrupted by the sound of approaching footsteps. Turning slightly, he noticed a figure making their way toward him. He recalled that aside from the flight crew, only Jaschard's personnel and security detail were aboard this chartered flight. This wasn't a chance encounter with a stranger.

The man stopped beside his seat and offered a polite, yet somewhat cautious smile.

"Mind if I sit here?"

Once everyone was aboard and procedures completed, the aircraft began its ascent without any delays. Gin leaned back in his seat, closing his eyes as he felt the gentle lift-off.

It was his first journey to another city in this world. The thought of exploring Okarita, a city renowned for its agricultural wealth, stirred a quiet excitement within him. He couldn't help but smile as his heart thumped with anticipation.

The man who approached was no ordinary individual—his presence radiated with a substantial amount of magical energy. Gin quickly deduced that he was likely one of the hired protectors brought on by Jungle for the mission. The stranger's demeanor was confident yet respectful as he lowered himself into the seat beside Giin and extended a hand in greeting.

"I'm Baldur," the man introduced himself with a nod, his eyes gleaming with curiosity and respect. "You must be Master Gin, the renowned mage?"

Gin grasped the offered hand and gave a brief nod in return. "Yes, that's right."

Baldur smiled warmly. "It's an honor to finally meet you. Your reputation has been spreading far and wide. There's been quite a bit of talk about your recent exploits."

"It's really not much," Gin replied humbly.

Baldur leaned in slightly, his expression turning inquisitive. "If I may ask, are you affiliated with any guild, company, or noble house? Or do you work independently?"

The question was delivered casually, but Gin could sense the underlying interest behind it. Baldur's inquiry wasn't just small talk—he wanted to understand Gin's allegiances and potential connections in this world of power plays and influence.
