Chapter 311 - BP Rating
"Dad, I don't think sending just anyone in on the expedition will succeed in rescuing uncle and aunty. The disaster in Stillwater city is unprecedented, and the danger level has yet to be properly accessed. So we will only be wasting lives by sending people in blindly."
After Eleanor Seymor mentioned her view, her grandpa and father both glanced at her with a frown.
"We aren't sending just anyone in, my girl. We are planning to send in the best," Klein Seymour corrected.
"You don't understand, dad." Eleanor shook her head and argued, "I'm saying that so-called best isn't good enough. Even B-rank and A-rank Hunters have died inside Stillwater city. They won't be able to do any better."
"That's where you are wrong, Eleanor. Our best men have all reached the standards of B-rank Hunters, but they aren't just any B-rankers. With equipment and weapons from Damocles, they are much stronger than ordinary B-rankers," Klein Seymour explained.
However, Eleanor wasn't the slightest bit convinced.
"No matter how you decorate a pig, it'll still be a pig." Eleanor Seymour sighed and said, "Even if they have good equipment, B-rankers are still B-rankers. Also, dad seems to have some misunderstanding about the current ranking system."
"What do you mean?" Klein Seymour furrowed his brows with doubt.
"The B-rankers from one week ago cannot be compared to today's B-rankers. As you know, only the top 30% of Hunters can be B-rankers, while A-rankers amounts to 10%," Eleanor Seymour proceeded to explain to her father.
"With the explosive growth brought by the Second Wave, more and more Hunters are achieving the bare minimum standard of B-rankers. If the standards aren't raised to cope with the trend, basically anyone can be called a B-ranker or A-ranker."
"In the past, the B-rank standard was to reach Lv.40 Hunter and become an Initiate Realm Martial Artist at the very least. Hunters at this level have around 400 BP ratings. But now, the new standard for B-rank is to have a 500 BP rating. And this is only temporary. The standard might be raised again next week or the week after."
After explaining so much to her father, Klein Seymour displayed an even more confused look.
"What is a BP rating?" he asked.
"I've already spoken so much. I better leave it for Anya to explain. She's more familiar with it than I am anyway," Eleanor Seymour suddenly passed the job to her little sister.
However, Klein's expression darkened the moment he glanced over to his youngest daughter.
"Are you playing on your phone, Anya? Don't you know that we are currently in the middle of a discussion about saving your uncle and aunty?" Klein said with a stern tone.
Old Seymour also gave his disapproval.
Anya was overwhelmed by the sudden attention and exclaimed, "Ah? But I wasn't playing on my phone? I was reading the news!"
"Hunter World's news?" Klein Seymour glanced at Anya's phone screen and said, "News about a virtual game is still news?"
"It is! Don't you know that Hunter World is more than just a game? It's a virtual space for Hunters to train their skills without the risk of injuries! Even the recently adopted BP rating came from the game!" Anya defended with a grumpy look.
"Hunter World isn't just any virtual game, father. Only registered Hunters and those with special passes have access to it. It's not open to the public," Eleanor added.
"I see…" Klein was taken back by his daughters before he scratched his head wryly, "It seems like I am a bit behind on the times. An old man like me is not good with technology."
"Hmph!" Anya pouted.
Klein was forced to appease her before Anya Seymour softened up and began explaining BP rating to him.
The so-called BP was an abbreviation for Battle Power.
Because there were two separate factors, cultivation and Hunter levels, it had always been vague in accurately determining the difference between the Hunters' strengths.
Battle Power, which combines the two factors, became better suited by measuring how much force Hunters can exert.
"I see… So the BP rating is how much force a Hunter can exert…" Klein muttered after learning from his youngest daughter's explanation.
However, he suddenly frowned with confusion.
"An Early-rank Initiate Realm Martial Artist can exert a force of 1000kg, coupled with a forty-fold increase as a Lv.40 Hunter, the person should be able to exert a force of 40,000kg. Yet the BP rating for B-rankers was only 400? How exactly is BP measured?"
Klein Seymour wondered.
"It's fairly simple, actually. Since an untrained Lv.1 Hunter is expected to exert a force of 100kg, dad only needs to cut out two zeros to determine a Hunter's BP rating," Anya explained.
Shortly after, she suddenly added, "Speaking of BP rating, I heard there was someone called The Strongest Wizard, who had a BP rating of over 100-thousand! Can you believe it, dad—"
"Enough about this topic already!" Old Seymour suddenly thundered and said, "We're gathered here to discuss how to save William and Martha, not those things."
That being said, it was something they had already discussed. As such, Klein was a bit frustrated with his old man's stubbornness.
"We can only wait for the meeting of the upper echelons in the Blackthorne Group before we figure that out, father."
"Haiz, is there no other way we can think of?" Old Seymour sighed before adding, "I fear it'll be too late by then."
"Well…" Klein contemplated carefully before saying, "Everything can be easily resolved if Young Master Albion was here. But, unfortunately, no one in the group knows where he went, and I also doubt he would suddenly appear…"

…
While the Seymour family had their family discussion, Albion arrived on the highest point in the central district with Fenriri and looked over the changes in the city.
"Hm?"
+11 EXP
+27 EXP

…
Albion suddenly raised an eyebrow after suddenly getting spammed by many system alerts without any sign of it stopping.
His expression quickly turned foul from annoyance.
Unless the bacteria in the air had evolved to the point of granting EXP by breathing them to death, there was only one reason why he was suddenly getting EXP.
His only question was what the heck was Pompom killing.
