HunterxHunter: I Became Stronger After Death

Chapter 93: Don’t Even Think About Running

Before attending the auction, Moro never would have imagined he'd have such an encounter with Biscuit.

He had once envied Gon and Killua for being able to learn under Biscuit's tutelage.

Yet, by simply freeloading the post-mortem Nen from the execution blade, he somehow ended up exchanging contact information with her.

Even though her teasing behavior could be a bit much at times, getting acquainted with a master of Shingen-ryu was undeniably a stroke of good fortune for Moro.

Perhaps in the future, he could even seek guidance from Biscuit…

After exchanging contacts, Biscuit left hurriedly, telling him to stay in touch before dashing off.

She still had that untreated green emerald from Gel, which she had yet to carve, and it had been weighing on her mind.

The only reason she had attended the auction tonight was to obtain that heart-shaped ruby.

If she hadn't run into Moro, she would have left immediately after securing the gem.

Not long after Biscuit left, Moro received a transfer from the auction house—42 billion Jenny.

This was the net profit from the several auction items he had sold tonight, including the Scarlet Eyes, after deducting the 5% fee.

Now, Moro had a total fortune of just over 50 billion.

However, compared to the high-rolling bidders tonight, his 50 billion was probably just pocket change to them.

Leaving the guest lounge, Moro thought about the three buyers who had purchased Nen-infused items.

But by now, they had all left the venue with their purchases.

"Not a big deal."

With money, he could just buy their identities from the Hunter Website.

Tracking down a few auction buyers was a trivial matter.

He just needed to trouble Kanzai again…

Moro sighed at the thought as he exited the Napiste Auction House.

From the moment he arrived in Yorknew City for the auction to now, less than a week had passed.

In that short time, his Age Ring energy had increased from 19% to 34%, and his net worth had quintupled.

With results like this, he figured he'd have to return next year.

After leaving the auction house, Moro hailed a cab and headed straight for Lingong Airport in the outskirts of Yorknew.

Now that his business was done, he had no reason to stay and planned to catch a flight tonight.

Yorknew City was a thriving metropolis, but beyond its borders lay vast barren lands, stretching as far as the eye could see—a stark contrast to the city's prosperity.

The landscape was desolate, dotted only with scattered cacti, clusters of dry grass, and towering red rock formations.

Despite being the only airport nearby, Lingong Airport was a full 90-minute drive from the city.

The only reason the journey wasn't even longer was due to the highway-like express route built between Yorknew City and the airport.

The cab sped down the road.

Tonight, the sky was clear, and a full moon cast its pale light over the land.

Perhaps because of the excellent visibility, and perhaps because the driver was a chatterbox, the man wouldn't stop talking to Moro throughout the ride.

Moro only responded with the occasional "Mhm."

But the driver didn't seem to notice or care that he was being ignored.

Moro glanced at the time, realizing he still had over an hour left in the car.

He sighed internally.

"Hey, kid, let me tell you somethi—huh?"

The driver's words suddenly cut off.

His eyes widened as he spotted something approaching in the distance.

In the backseat, Moro's gaze sharpened.

He had already identified the incoming threat—

A rocket launcher! Boom!

Without hesitation, Moro slammed open the door and leaped out onto the barren terrain beside the road.

A second later—

BOOM!!!

The taxi exploded, engulfed in a towering inferno.

On a nearby rock formation…

A man tossed away an empty rocket launcher, a smirk on his face.

"Works like a charm."

It was Poison Mosquito, one of the Shadow Beasts.

Hands casually stuffed in his pockets, he leaped down from the rocky heights and strolled toward the burning wreckage.

Meanwhile, on the side of the road…

Moro stared at the flaming remains of the taxi, his expression turning icy cold.

Screech!

A series of sudden braking sounds echoed from the road behind him.

Several black sedans came to a halt, their drivers having witnessed the explosion from afar.

Further down the highway, more vehicles were stopping, most of them belonging to buyers from the auction.

This road was the only route from Yorknew City to Lingong Airport.

Many auction attendees had no choice but to take this path to leave the city tonight.

Even those who had private airships had to park them at Lingong Airport for pre-flight preparations.

Moro's Nen aura sharpened, his eyes coldly scanning the black sedans.

His first thought was that they were enemies coming to ambush him.

But when he saw Zebro Jebs step out of one of the cars, he immediately reassessed the situation.

Zebro Jebs also noticed Moro, his expression briefly surprised.

His gaze then shifted toward the burning wreckage and the scattered debris of the taxi.

He frowned slightly.

Moro quickly retracted his attention from Zebro Jebs.

At that moment, his entire being tensed into combat readiness.

Then—

A sudden killing intent surged toward him.

Before he could fully react—

CRASH!

Something burst from the ground behind him.

A man with an unnaturally twisted physique, wearing nothing but underwear, emerged from the earth itself.

It was Earthworm, another Shadow Beast.

His fist shot forward, aiming for the back of Moro's head.

Moro didn't look back.

Instead, he pushed off the ground, using a spring-step technique to launch himself forward.

Swish!

Earthworm's fist missed, striking nothing but air.

He landed firmly, his murky yellow eyes flashing with surprise as he looked at Moro, who had effortlessly dodged his attack.

"He actually dodged…?"

His voice carried a slight tremor, mixed with astonishment.

Stealth attacks were his specialty.

He always struck from underground, taking his targets by surprise.

This method had never failed before.

Yet, tonight, Moro had avoided it so smoothly, as if he had foreseen the attack.

Moro coldly assessed his opponent.

"Shadow Beast—Earthworm." "Oh? Not bad. You're well-informed."

Earthworm didn't immediately attack again.

Instead, he carefully gauged Moro's aura, gaining confidence in his assessment.

Moro, in turn, estimated Earthworm's Nen level—

Likely between Level 45 and Level 50.

Before the standoff could continue—

A man in a jacket, with side-swept bangs, casually strolled up behind Earthworm.

Moro recognized him immediately—

Another Shadow Beast.

Poison Mosquito.

His Nen level was slightly lower than Earthworm's but still at least Level 40.

Earthworm smirked.

"Since you know about us Shadow Beasts…

Don't even think about running."

Moro remained silent.

His Nen aura sharpened even further.

Back at the road…

Zebro Jebs stood by the car, reporting to Battera:

"It's that young Nen user we met yesterday at the hotel lobby… and two Shadow Beasts, Earthworm and Poison Mosquito." "Seems they're after him."

Battera's expression remained calm, indifferent to the situation.

Zebro Jebs saw through his attitude immediately.

Even if Battera had different thoughts, he would have advised against interfering.

After all—

When it comes to the Ten Dons, it's best to stay out of it.
