Hunter X Hunter: Tombbound Power

Chapter 308: 308: "I'm Sorry, This Bone Spear and I Really Hit It Off"

The priority now was simple: escape.

Once out, he'd track down some skilled specialists and investigate the so-called cursed weapons—tools said to bring misfortune to their wielders. Perhaps the humans' famed Nen exorcists could help him sever his dependence on the Undead Bone Spear.

When the time came, after he reclaimed his autonomy, he'd wield the weapon's power on his own terms. Hidden in the shadows, he would strike a fatal blow against humanity's oppressors. His ultimate vision—a world ruled by the undead bone clan—would finally be within reach.

Overlord caught himself mid-thought, realizing his excitement had made him linger too long. He quickly readied the Undead Bone Spear to break free.

But before he could act—

Whoosh!

A razor-sharp blade streaked through the air, aimed with precision.

Tear!

The sound of fabric ripping broke the silence as the blade narrowly missed him, grazing his shoulder. Overlord turned, stunned, to see the slender weapon embedded in the door of the Recycling Room.

"Looks like you're not as untouchable as you thought."

Ronnel stood with a smirk, his posture relaxed but his tone laced with menace. His eyes lingered on the slight tear in Overlord's shoulder, inflicted by the blade's residual aura.

"You…" Overlord snarled, his gaze burning with fury. "You'll pay for this!"

His voice dripped with venom, but he hesitated. With a flick of his wrist, he commanded the Undead Bone Spear to rise, preparing for escape.

Ronnel's smirk widened. He didn't move—his blade still pointed downward, arms crossed—but his eyes glinted with mockery.

"Humans… We'll meet again."

Overlord's words echoed coldly as his spectral form faded, merging into the Undead Bone Spear. The weapon buzzed ominously, trembling as if preparing for retaliation.

But it didn't move.

"What…?" Overlord's voice rang out, now filled with panic. "Why isn't it obeying me?!"

The spear remained still, floating lifelessly in midair. Overlord's shock turned to disbelief.

"This can't be… I've commanded it for nearly a century! How can—"

His voice faltered as realization struck. His ethereal form reappeared, eyes flaring with blue fire.

"It's you!" he roared, his voice cracking with hysteria. "What did you do?!"

Ronnel chuckled softly, his calm demeanor unshaken. "Let's just say it took a liking to me."

The spear trembled again, but this time it flew toward Ronnel, as if summoned. He caught it effortlessly, spinning it in his hand.

"I'm sorry," Ronnel said with a mocking grin. "This bone spear and I… we really hit it off."

Overlord could only watch in horror as Ronnel infused the weapon with his own aura. The spear thrummed with power, glowing brighter under his control.

"Why? How could the spear acknowledge a human?"

Overlord's thoughts raced as he remembered Ronnel's miraculous survival after the explosion of the epiphyllum—another enigma he could not unravel. Yet answers no longer mattered. Overlord's fate was sealed.

"It's time to end this," Ronnel said, his voice cold and resolute. Without hesitation, he thrust the spear forward, its tip glowing white-hot with concentrated Nen.

"Swish!"

The spear pierced through Overlord's form effortlessly. His defenses crumbled under the combined might of the weapon and Ronnel's Nen.

"Pfft!"

Overlord's spectral form began to disintegrate, his glowing eyes dimming as the last remnants of his existence faded into nothingness. In the end, he was just a lingering shadow with no means to resist.

Ronnel held the spear firmly as he watched Overlord vanish. Then, with a subtle motion, he pulled the weapon back.

"Hmm?"

Ronnel's brow furrowed as he noticed resistance.
