Hunter x Hunter: The Strongest Gon

Chapter 5: Ch: 03

Hello everyone, this is Gon Freecss, and I can't hide my excitement over a steak that's been slowly cooked over low heat, it turned out incredibly delicious. Even Gin couldn't help but smile.

Two-choice old lady? Kiriko? We don't have anything like that here.

Ever since I read the original, I thought that a steak cooked on low heat might taste a bit off, but it turned out to be surprisingly delicious. The three of us plus one were like a human power plant. Upon reflection, I realized that such mysterious meats exist in the Hunter × Hunter world, and my excitement as a foodie for unseen ingredients just won't stop.

By the way, right after I thought it was pretty different from the original, the reassuring familiarity of the Two-Choice Old Lady and Kiriko hit me, with the only difference being Gin's presence. There was the issue of Gin being too heavy and putting a strain on Kiriko and the others, but this was the moment I felt most connected to the original work, and my heart was fulfilled.

However, this carefree atmosphere won't last. From here on out, it's a demonic realm overrun by darkness.

Since I plan to strengthen my close friends at this point to aim for the strongest Gon, I want to proceed with this Hunter Exam as smoothly as possible.

Let's hope that the clown turns out to be the person we imagined.

Hisoka Morou, an abnormal individual who spends his days thinking about when and which toy to destroy, feeling little interest in anything. Though he is somewhat satisfied, he cannot shake the feeling that something is missing, leading him to destroy even toys he has no interest in.

Fed up with the hassle of cleaning up after himself, he took the previous exam with the intention of becoming a Hunter who could kill without hesitation, but his bad habits resurfaced, and he failed. Though his skills were sufficient, he had decided to give up on becoming a Hunter if he were to be rejected again due to the examiner's discretion.

Then, during his second attempt, while contemplating whether to play with his favorite toy who happened to be taking the exam with him, he found himself drawn to the elevator where the examinees were boarding.

The elevator doors opened, and new examinees stepped out.

That day, Hisoka met his destiny, something to fill the void within him.

Gon and his group received the license plates from Beans as in the original story. Tonpa, who instinctively recognized the newcomers, instinctively backed away. Upon arriving at the exam venue, the elite examinees, said to be one in ten thousand, made way for the young man in clown makeup: Hisoka.

Everyone was immobilized by the malevolent aura emanating from Hisoka, but Gon, holding back Gin in a defensive stance, stood before Hisoka, who wore a blissful expression on his face.

"Nice to meet you ♥ I'm Hisoka ♥ May I ask your name and the name of the child on your head?"

Despite the murderous aura directed at him, Gon remained calm, and Hisoka was intrigued by both him and Gin, who was on guard but not afraid.

Hisoka was surprised that they didn't attack him without warning, but he understood that this exchange would determine his future relationship with the boy.

"My name is Gon, and this is Gin. I can tell you're someone strong, Hisoka, and I can sense your desire to fight, but I'd rather not right now."

"How cold of you. As for me, I'd rather do it now. Can you tell me why you want to postpone it?"

Despite being faced with an aura of murderous intent that could easily force a half-hearted hunter to surrender completely, Gon maintained an aura of complete calm, as if he were relaxing at home.

"I intend to pass this exam. So once the Hunter Exam is over, I'll fight you anytime. If the exam requires us to fight, I'll fight you then. But if you interfere with the exam, I'll come after you without hesitation alongside Gin."

As he spoke, Gon and Gin's auras trembled heavily. Unlike Hisoka's malevolent, sticky aura, theirs was fresh and majestic, like a great tree, giving those around them a sense of security while putting immense pressure on Hisoka.

"...♥ As long as you don't interfere with the exam, right? ♦ I'm persistent, but will you really fight me as much as I want? ♣"

"Becoming the strongest is my goal, so I welcome strong opponents. Of course, I wouldn't want to be taken hostage or killed without mercy, but as long as that's not the case, I'll always give it my all."

Gon's aura was crystal clear, and the intense desire and admiration emanating from it were enough to drain the venom from Hisoka's aura. After weighing the pros and cons, Hisoka suppressed the ache in his body and decided to wait for now.

The desired battle would come soon enough, and he was already accustomed to waiting for things to mature.

Above all, he had been made to understand through his aura that if he started under such unfavorable conditions, with no preparation or mental readiness, he would be the one to lose.

"Too bad, but there's nothing we can do. I'll pray for an opportunity during the exam. See you later, Gin-kun."

"I'm looking forward to fighting you too!"

"Kyuun, kyuun, gugu."

Hisoka was about to make a ridiculous face and... react due to Gon's straightforward words and Gin's mix of disgust and encouragement. Turning his back on Gon, he decided to stay until Gon failed so he could fight during the exam, and walked away.

Ignoring the chaos around him, Hisoka sharpened his aura with the highest concentration of his life.

When all the toys he had once cherished in his mind were replaced by Gon, he suddenly looked around as if he had noticed something.

Normally, only trash that annoyed him would enter his field of vision, but for some reason, he didn't care much about it. Instead, despite being deep underground, the world seemed to shine brightly.

"Ah, I'm really looking forward to this, Gon ♥ Just meeting you makes me wonder what would happen if we fought ♥"

Holding himself tightly, Hisoka was lost in fantasies of a deadly battle with Gon, completely forgetting about the Hunter Exam.

"No complaints. You're a perfect 100 points, including your potential."

As in the original story, he still doesn't know that Gon, who had retained his transformation, would defeat him fairly easily during the fourth exam.
