Chapter 12: Chapter 12
In front of the campfire, Ives sat cross-legged while flipping the boar meat, already exuding a fragrant aroma. After he felt it was cooked, he took two jumbo skewers and handed one to Biscuit, "And this is for you."
"Thank you." Biscuit took it with a sweet smile.
"Hmm, not bad." Ives took a bite while commenting on his own cooking.
Hearing his positive tone, Biscuit bit the tip and chewed it, but she frowned when she swallowed the meat. "This meat is a bit too tough, and besides, it's a bit bland, " She said.
"It's a bit tough, yes, but at least it can replenish our energy. As for the taste, well, I'm not much of a chef myself, haha!" Ives laughs it off.
"Next time, it's better for me, Biscuit-Chama, to do it." Biscuit giggled. She didn't mean to insult him; she just wanted to pamper him.
"Chama? That title doesn't suit you." Ives teased back, raising an eyebrow.
"What did you say?!" At first, she felt sweet, but now she was pouting.
"Just kidding, haha! Since Biscuit-Chama wants to be a chef, then I don't have to worry about going hungry anymore, let alone eating bland food like this. Biscuit-chama, thank you!" Ives praised excessively.
"You..." Okay, now she felt embarrassed and guilty when she heard that. 'Actually, your cooking isn't that bad, ' She whispered. "Ahem, stop it. Also, I take my words back; being called Biscuit-chama is a bit... a bit embarrassing!" Biscuit covered her blushing face.
"Now turn around, I'll tend to your wounds."
"Wounds? What wounds? I'm woundless, you see? I'm fine." Hearing that, Ives looked at her as if he didn't understand what she was saying.
"Don't act tough, just turn around." She said while posing akimbo.
Since she insists on it, he turns around and shows his back.
"Tss..." Seeing his wounds, Biscuit hissed. At first, she thought it was a minor cut, but looking closer, she saw it turned out to be quite wide and deep. She wondered how this man could act so indifferent when his back was heavily wounded like this. 'Could it be that he was holding it in so that I wouldn't worry?' Thinking of this possibility, her good feelings grew, but she also felt a little guilty. During this Exam, he was the one who had always taken risks.
Opening her bottle, Biscuit poured water directly onto the injured area. "The wound has been cleaned; now I'm going to apply some ointment. This might sting, so bear with me." Biscuit said.
"Ouch, ouch! It hurts!" Ives screamed in pain, but inside, he was actually chuckling. It did hurt, but he could still bear it. The reason why he did this was, of course, to increase Biscuit's liking for him.
"Come one, stop acting like a kid, hehe~" Biscuit giggled.
After bandaging the wound, she nodded in satisfaction while clapping her hands, "There, it's done!"
"Wow, thank you so much, Biscuit. I don't know what I would have done without you." Ives thanked her.
"You're welcome," Biscuit replied with a smile. After that, she wanted to put her medicines back into her bag, but before she could do so, the man stopped her.
"Wait, there are still wounds that need to be treated."
"Where? Show me." Biscuit once again worried.
"Here." Ives pointed to the girl's right cheek. Perhaps because of the adrenaline pump, she didn't realize that her cheek had been scratched and was bleeding a little.
"?" She was confused, but when she rubbed her finger on the area the man pointed at, she realized there was a wound. The stinging sensation she felt also confirmed this.
"I can treat it myself."
"It's okay, let me do it." Ives coaxed.
"O-okay..." Seeing his serious eyes, she understood that he genuinely cared about her. With a warm heart, she nodded shyly.
