Chapter 62: Change
Isabella smirked, moving closer to him and closing the gap between them, Kaizen tensed, not expecting her to come so close, but his expression remained blank.
"As a girl." She replied, leaning closer, too close infact. "What? You never had a girl tell you something like this before?" She asked, her smile widening.
A smirk tugged kaizen's lips as he leaned forward instead, catching her off guard. "A lot actually, what makes you think you're the first?"
That wasn't true but his ego was on the line here. No way was he admitting the he'd never been approached by a girl.
Isabella's heart skipped a bit, she hadn't expected him to lean so close, their faces were only inches apart now. And did he just say a lot? Who are they? How dare they? Something in her sparked, and her expression instantly transformed into a deep frown.
"Do you have a girlfriend?" She asked bluntly, her tone cold. Kaizen noticed her expression had changed, something he just said seemed to have triggered something in her, but he had no idea what that could be.
"I don't, and I don't plan on having one." He replied casually, moving away and standing upright as he turned towards his door to enter the house. He had come to pick up his bags before heading to Crimson dusk, only to meet her right outside his house.
Isabella followed right behind him, but just before she could enter, Kaizen stopped her with his outstretched hand. "Wait outside, I'll be back soon." Then he went inside.
"So I can't enter your house? For what reason? You don't trust me?" She yelled in protest but he was already inside. She decided to listen and wait, but she has always been the impatient type, she tapped her feet continuously on the wood, waiting for him.
But after several minutes of waiting and there was no sign of him, she pushed the door open went inside. The nearest room after the door was where she entered, and she froze when she found Kaizen standing shirtless inside the room.
Kaizen's brows furrowed, "I told you to wait didn't I?" Damn she doesn't listen. Thank goodness his parents weren't at home or he'd have a lot explaining to do.
"I...it was, I'm sorry I'll leave." She said quickly before hurriedly turning around and sprinting out of the room and outside. Her cheeks were bright red as she blushed hard, she hadn't expected to find him undressed, and she hadn't expected he'd look that good without clothes on.
Only his shirt was off but still, every sight was worth it. She wanted to feel him against her so badly, use her fingers to trace his chest, those abs that were always hidden under his clothes, she didn't remember him being so well built the last time she hugged him. He seemed a lot more manly than the last time she saw him, a lot more attractive, captivating...and it was getting harder to hold back from wanting more with him.
As she replayed the memory of what she'd just seen countless times in her head, she didn't realize when he returned.
"Aren't you coming?" His words snapped her out of her thoughts and she raised her head to find him already walking ahead of her. She hurried down the pavement and followed him.
After a moment of a quiet awkward walk, she broke the silence."You seem different." she muttered quietly, loud enough for him to hear.
"Really?" Kaizen asked, feigning ignorance. He knew he was different, after all...not all his emotions were intact after the previous revival. Although he didn't really understand what kind of different she meant.
"Yeah you had a growth spurt." She replied.
Oh she meant that kinda different.
"I guess so."
"You seem colder too. Did something happen?" She added.
Kaizen halted his footsteps for a second before moving forward again, she noticed? But only someone who's known him long enough would notice something like that. How could she tell.
"It's nothing, just feeling down the weather." He lied as they kept walking.
"Liar." She said quietly, clutching her bag tightly as she followed behind him.
Kaizen turned to her, surprised. "Why would you conclude that? You don't even know me, how would you know what I'm like during the other days before now?"
"Something about your aura has changed. Everytime about you is different, and I like it." She replied with a bright smile.
Even with my suppressed mana, she could sense the difference? No one else has been able to tell .
"You're creepy." He replied jokingly, not adding anything else that could give him away.
"I know."
"While I was away, did anything new happen at dusk?" Kaizen asked, breaking the awkward moment.
"Well, a new S-rank joined us, making a total of twelve S-rank in Crimson guild. But something went wrong during the test. We all witnessed it."
"What happened?" Kaizen asked in a curious tone.
"The mana meter used to check the rank of new hunters got destroyed during the test. It shattered as soon as he placed his hand on it. The captains said he might be above S-rank but they haven't concluded anything yet." She explained.
Shattered? I never heard of anything like that. Was it just a coincidence? That has to be it. The mana meter stone is one of the strongest and indestructible gem. It is almost impossible to destroy except with an intense release of mana. The amount of mana needed to destroy it could never come from one person. So how did that happen?
"There was something unique about his looks." Isabella's voice cut into his thoughts, and he turned to look at her.
"His hair, his hair was half white and half black. Something I've never seen before." She added.
"He has white hair? Kaizen asked, his expression turning grim, and she nodded in response.
"His age?"
"He looks just about same age as you." She replied.
There's definitely something about him. What could it be? There's only one of my kind to exist during a particular generation. And we usually always have white hair. Part of his hair being white definitely means something.
From what Kaizen had found out, the hair of every five element weilder turns white because of multiple elements being joined in one body, also know as the sign of calamity. Which means whoever that man is, he definitely weilds more than one element, not just two, maybe even three or four. That would be the only justification to why he was able to crush the mana meter stone.
