HP: Supreme Potion Collector [Original Female Protagonist]

Chapter 228: Chapter 228: Beauxbatons

Excitement and anticipation filled the air at Hogwarts Castle. In the classrooms, no one paid attention to the lessons; all thoughts were on the arrival of the Beauxbatons and Durmstrang delegations that evening. When the bell rang early to dismiss the class, Harry, Ron, Orli, and Hermione rushed to Gryffindor Tower. Following instructions, they left their bags and books behind, donned their cloaks, and hurried down the stairs to the Entrance Hall. The heads of houses were busy organizing students into orderly lines.

"Mr. Weasley, straighten your hat," Professor McGonagall said sternly to Ron.

"Miss Patil, remove that ridiculous thing from your hair."

Parvati frowned but complied, pulling the oversized butterfly ornament from her braid.

"Follow me, please," Professor McGonagall instructed.

"First years at the front… no pushing…"

The students filed down the steps and gathered outside the castle. It was a cold, crisp evening, with twilight settling in. A pale, translucent moon hung over the Forbidden Forest. Standing in the fourth row by year, they eagerly scanned their surroundings.

"It's almost six," Ron noted, checking his watch and glancing down the path to the front gates.

"How do you think they'll get here? By train?"

"I doubt it," Hermione replied.

"Then how?" Harry mused, gazing up at the starry sky. "Broomsticks?"

"Maybe you should try thinking outside the box," Orli chuckled softly.

"A Portkey?" Ron guessed. "Or maybe they can Apparate—even if they're underage, perhaps it's allowed where they're from?"

"No Apparition is allowed on Hogwarts grounds. How many times do I have to tell you?" Hermione retorted sharply.

They peered into the darkening grounds, but everything remained still and silent, just as usual.

"Some people just can't resist showing off in front of a crowd," Malfoy's voice grumbled from a distance, catching Orli's attention.

At that moment, Dumbledore, standing at the back with the other professors, called out, "Ah! If I am not mistaken, the representatives from Beauxbatons have arrived!"

"Where?" Fred and George asked eagerly, scanning the area in different directions.

"There!" Ron shouted, pointing above the Forbidden Forest.

A massive object was flying swiftly across the deep blue sky toward the castle, growing larger and larger.

"It's a dragon!" Lee Jordan screamed, unable to contain his excitement.

"…It's a flying house!" Neville exclaimed.

As the enormous shadow passed over the treetops of the Forbidden Forest and was illuminated by the castle's lights, they saw a gigantic powder-blue carriage flying toward them. It was as large as a house, pulled through the air by a dozen winged silver horses, each the size of an elephant.

Orli barely managed to glimpse the emblem on the door—a pair of crossed golden wands, each emitting three stars—before the carriage landed.

The door opened, and a boy in a pale blue robe jumped down, bowing respectfully as he unfurled a golden ladder. He then extended a hand politely toward the door. A moment later, a large foot clad in black high-heeled shoes—large enough to rival a child's sled—stepped out.

A woman emerged from the carriage, nearly matching Hagrid in size.

"Dear Madame Maxime," Dumbledore greeted warmly, "Welcome to Hogwarts."

He began clapping, and the students followed suit.

"Dumbledore, I hope you are well," Madame Maxime said in a deep, resonant voice, her face softening into a smile. "These are my students."

Around twelve or thirteen boys and girls disembarked from the carriage and now stood behind Madame Maxime. Judging by their appearances, they seemed to be around seventeen or eighteen years old, shivering slightly. This was unsurprising, as their robes appeared to be made of delicate water-blue silk, and none of them wore thick cloaks.

"Has Karkaroff arrived?" Madame Maxime inquired.

"He should be here any moment," Dumbledore replied. "Would you prefer to wait here to greet him or come inside to warm up?"

"Let's warm up, then," Madame Maxime decided. "But what about the horses—"

"Our Care of Magical Creatures teacher will be delighted to tend to them," Dumbledore assured her. "He'll be back shortly after dealing with a minor mishap—something involving, uh, his other charges."

"Blast-Ended Skrewts," Ron whispered to Harry with a grin.

"Come along," Madame Maxime commanded her students with authority. The Hogwarts crowd parted to make way as she and her students ascended the stone steps.

Note:

About Beauxbatons and Durmstrang:

Due to certain directors' deliberate choices, many people mistakenly believe from the movie scenes that Beauxbatons is an all-girls school and Durmstrang an all-boys school. This is entirely incorrect. Nicolas Flamel was a graduate of Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang's founder was a witch. Both schools are co-ed, so don't let the movie scenes mislead you.
