Chapter 202: Chapter 201 - Entering Hell.
[Chapter Size: 1800 Words.]
Third Person POV
Durmstrang Institute.
...
...
"The winner of the dueling tournament is Mr. Severus Snape!"
The headmistress of the Durmstrang Institute announced, although her joy was not as great as her words.
Her school wasn't even in the final, which was quite humiliating when the tournament itself was hosted there.
At the same time, people did not stop applauding Severus Snape at the Hogwarts table, while they seemed proud, surprised, happy, resentful, and lost.
After all, there were people there who liked Snape, those who feared him, were angry at him, and even had complicated feelings.
In any case, Snape stood there in silence, being applauded and cheered by most of the students from the other schools. No one could deny his dueling skills. Still only a sixth-year student, he had the potential to become one of the greatest wizards this world had ever seen.
"You really are incredible, even though from what I've seen, your strength lies in your physical abilities and even your powers... But still, you can surpass everyone in magic too."
Rosaria touched his shoulder as she said a few things near his ear.
The act drew some surprised looks, seeing that they seemed to share clear intimacy, further fueling the rumors, while Clarisse had a sharp look directed at Rosaria, who didn't care.
Snape said nothing, simply standing there with a calm expression, being the center of attention of hundreds of people.
Snape in the end received a trophy, while Clarisse, having taken second place, received another, and a student from America received third place.
It was a surprise that Clarisse had come so far, as she had indeed gained great strength in the past year training with Snape. But there were also favorites like Pandora and even Lily for their talent, although the two had also received training with Snape.
Professor Flitwick seemed so happy with it, with Hogwarts taking the top two places among so many schools from around the world gathered there, clearly proving why Hogwarts was the best school in the world.
A feast had been prepared for the next day while a ball would be held.
Seeing the closeness Snape had with Greengrass, the professors—except for Rosaria—had suggested they should be a pair, being the two greatest champions of the tournament, frustrating some girls from other schools who were clearly eyeing the champion for being very handsome in their eyes and the strongest wizard there, with the greatest potential and status.
Severus did not refuse the request, and he and Clarisse danced the first song, and he also ended up dancing with Pandora and even Rosaria as they asked him. Having refused any invitation and being alone, Severus ended up having to give attention to all three.
In any case, the next day, Snape was called by the professors after he had declined an interview with the magical media, and now he would finally receive his prize.
He made his way to one of the most important places in the school, the headmistress's office, since the painting had been taken there for safety after the first night when someone approached it under invisibility.
Snape was received by the headmistress and a few Durmstrang professors, who greeted and congratulated him, although they found it a waste for someone with his potential to be so indifferent, refusing the chance to become famous.
"The next room will be with the painting of Astrid Bandear. She is a witch with vast knowledge and will be able to answer all kinds of questions you might have. I'm sure she can help with your doubts about magic and even increase your magical powers and spells.
It's a unique opportunity, as she doesn't like to be disturbed and only the best student from each class every year can have the chance to speak with her for one hour. Here, you will have four hours to ask whatever you want."
The headmistress began to explain while Snape nodded.
"You have a great opportunity in your hands, Mr. Snape, make the most of it with all the wisdom you can."
Professor Flitwick said, envying the opportunity Severus Snape had, but at the same time, with great pride in having had the chance to guide such an exceptional student, the best of his generation since he began to explode in talent a year and a half ago.
Snape nodded, and the headmistress of Durmstrang opened the entrance with her wand and gave way for Snape to proceed, while everyone watched him walk toward the location and she closed the door, leaving only Snape and the painting for a private conversation.
Snape saw a simple room, where only the painting of the woman appeared, looking bored, while using a tool to file her nails before giving Snape a quick glance.
"So you're the student who won the tournament. You do have the appearance of a champion, but I've seen better in these two thousand years..."
She commented before returning her attention to her nails, as if she wasn't very interested in Severus.
Meanwhile, Severus stood there silently, ignoring the woman's sarcastic tone while analyzing her painting. He wasn't the least bit interested in what she had to say—after all, he was there for another reason, one far better than asking things about magic or ancient knowledge of this world.
The elderly woman, noticing Snape's silence, continued.
"Come on, ask. I can share a bit of my knowledge with whatever question you ask, having lived so long. But I don't like it. I detest it. I only agreed so Durmstrang could have some privilege... Still, the school embarrassed me when I learned the result—we didn't even reach the finals... what a disgrace, what a disgrace..."
She had started off arrogant before whimpering in shame.
This woman was far too arrogant, and Snape was feeling less and less inclined to exchange any words with this being.
"Hm?"
She finally looked at Snape, seeing his silence.
"You're just going to stand there and say nothing? Are you too embarrassed to be in the presence of a witch with the renown I have? That's to be expected, but it's also rude, boy."
She said with an offended tone.
Snape then took a step and moved closer to her, while she nodded.
"Yes, come to me and ask your questions."
As she spoke, Snape simply walked close enough that the painting found it strange.
"Hey, what are you doing?"
She murmured as Snape began to touch her painting.
The woman was about to scold him for it, but suddenly, something changed and even she didn't understand, as a force began to emerge from her very place. The boy there began to be pulled as his body distorted like an Apparition being sent to her, yet at the same time it wasn't—he completely vanished from her sight, and she didn't know what had happened to him.
"Hey! What's going on?!"
She exclaimed, now alone in the room.
"Boy?! Where are you?!"
She screamed.
"Headmistress! Headmistress!"
The woman began to shout toward the door, trying to call someone, but the door did not open.
Meanwhile, in the headmistress's office, she was showing a vinyl record to her guests, playing classical music with magic.
"This is a very good piece... We don't have things like this at Hogwarts..."
Professor Flitwick commented, while they drank and chatted.
"..."
Professor Rosaria ignored everyone and looked toward the door where Snape had entered, wondering if he had gone into one of those portals in the paintings he was searching for.
He hadn't said anything, but she had noticed his interest in the painting of Astrid Bandear.
Obviously, that must have been a portal—and this proved how Snape, who didn't seem all that interested in the tournament, ended up winning with a certain will, defeating some opponents in just a few seconds.
At the same time, in a burning modern city, Snape was beating up a Cerberus that stood at the entrance of the demonic castle, guarding it.
He was fighting with ease as the three-headed dog-like monster took a beating, with Snape using only his physical strength.
"This is way too easy."
Snape commented as he moved forward after throwing the Cerberus far away. Before the beast could react, he was already at its side, landing a powerful punch.
The blow caught the beast by surprise as it was sent flying by the impact, smashing through various beams and structures in the burning, ruined city.
The creature could only cry out in pain at its misfortune.
Snape looked at the creature emerging from the rubble as it climbed to a high point in the wreckage, growling at him and regenerating all its injuries.
"Regeneration... But is that all?"
Snape remarked, watching with boredom.
[System! Cerberus, The Guardian of Hell, enters rage mode with the ability activated. All attributes increased by 100%.]
Then the system message appeared, and Snape glanced at it before breaking into a smile.
"Interesting..."
He declared as his daggers began to appear in each of his hands.
"Come on, doggie."
Snape said, not finding anything dangerous about the three-headed dog, even with the ability activated at that moment.
He then shot forward at high speed toward the beast, which took it as a challenge and lunged at Snape too. In the next moment, both clashed—Snape easily evading its attack.
In the following instant, Snape was behind the creature, while Cerberus let out a painful sound as one of its heads was cut off, blood gushing everywhere.
The beast stomped the ground in fury while still whimpering and regenerating to stop the bleeding, though it could no longer recover the lost head.
Severus had already decided to end it once and for all. He suddenly appeared right in front of it and pierced another head, cutting it off as well. The beast realized that even with double the power, it was nothing compared to that invader.
Its last head couldn't even feel the pain before it was destroyed by Snape appearing at its back, with the creature collapsing to the ground, now headless.
Snape landed and looked at the beast thoughtfully.
"You were certainly weak... but I still see potential in you... become part of my army. Arise."
Snape said as Cerberus's shadow began to emerge, taking on a bluish form with darkness, while it bowed its head in submission to its new king.
Severus looked at the system as he received a key—nothing else. The opponent had been so weak, he didn't even gain a level for defeating it.
"Anyway, let's move on."
Severus took the key and approached the gate Cerberus had been guarding.
He advanced, using the key to enter, while his shadow moved to his feet, joining the others in his army, as Snape finally stepped into the 100-floor demonic castle mission—unaware that he would remain there for several months.
