Chapter 25: Chapter 25: The Bull's Might Potion
"Slow down! Slow down!"
"You're not that little guy anymore!"
Watching the enormous creature charging towards him, Evans fumbled to pull out his wand and held it horizontally in front of him. A translucent barrier appeared, and the next second, the huge bull's head slammed into it with a deafening roar.
Powerful airflow spread from the point of impact, kicking up countless clumps of dirt that splattered everywhere. Hermione only felt a blur in front of her eyes; when her vision returned, she had somehow darted ten meters away, and in her arms, only a blue-and-yellow bird remained.
A moment later, the dust kicked up by the impact gradually dissipated, and Hermione finally saw the true form of the giant beast. It was an enormous creature, over three meters tall at the shoulder, with a robust build and golden fur covering its body, emitting a dazzling glow under the sunlight.
At this moment, the giant beast was pressing its head against the barrier in front of Professor Kahn, twisting from side to side incessantly, trying to push through the barrier, which already had several cracks.
Watching the bull's head still twisting relentlessly and the slight cracks on the barrier, a drop of cold sweat trickled down Evans's forehead. He suddenly felt that the Ministry of Magic's rating system wasn't so bad after all. Given his magical strength, a silent Shield Charm almost failed to stop this large, clumsy creature's charge, which was enough to show how powerful an adult Re'em truly was.
Dismissing the barrier, he pushed the bull's head to the side and irritably patted its head. "How many times have I told you? Don't just charge around in the woods, and you can't jump into my arms anymore! What if I don't have time to cast a spell? Wouldn't you just ram me to death?"
"Moo…"
Tilting its head guiltily, the giant beast extended its tongue and licked Evans's face, seemingly expressing its apology. But the huge tongue brushing against his face almost licked him right off his feet. After a great deal of effort, he finally stopped the giant beast's actions. Evans used his wand to remove the slobber from his face, then turned and looked at Hermione, holding onto the bull's horns.
"His name is Kuruzer. You can call him Big Guy."
After speaking, he patted the giant beast's head. "This is Miss Granger, and I also brought Alice and Nana…"
"Huh? Where's Nana?"
It was only then that Evans realized Hermione's arms only held Alice, and Nana was nowhere to be seen. He looked around in confusion and saw a moving clump of mud not far away. Upon closer inspection, a Niffler was squatting on the ground, clutching its head, looking over with eyes full of indignation. The earlier burst of airflow had splattered it with mud, and now it looked as if it had just been dug out of the earth, completely transformed into a muddy brown.
Alice, in Hermione's arms, gave an apologetic cry and flashed to Nana's side, patting the mud off its body with her wings. Although this action had no effect whatsoever on the thick layer of mud on Nana, at least it expressed her apology. At the time, the situation was critical, and she only had time to instinctively take the closest little witch and flee, and her ability could only carry one creature, not Nana as well.
Looking at the mud ball covered in dirt, Evans couldn't help but let out a chuckle.
Fortunately, Hermione, who was beside him, was still considerate. She jogged to Nana's side and pulled out her wand.
"Scourgify!"
Because the young witch's magic was still relatively weak, Hermione had to cast the Cleaning Charm several times before she could barely remove the mud from Nana.
Picking up the Niffler, she raised her head again, timidly looking at the giant beast beside Professor Kahn. "H-hello, my name is Hermione Granger."
"Moo~"
Taking two curious steps forward, Kuruzer stopped, seeing that the little witch seemed very scared, and let out a call while standing still.
Noticing Hermione's nervousness, Evans patted the giant beast's body. "Don't be afraid, you can touch him. As I said, Re'em's are very docile creatures." As if remembering what had just happened, Evans added, "He only lets loose when he's with me."
Listening to Professor Kahn's words, Hermione bravely took a step forward and slowly extended her hand upwards but couldn't reach the large creature. She had tried her best, but the giant beast was simply too tall; even its chin was far above her height.
However, as if discerning her predicament, the giant beast slowly lowered its head and brought it close to Hermione's hand. A warm sensation emanated from her palm; the giant beast's body temperature seemed much higher than other animals, like a giant furnace, warming Hermione's body. She gradually relaxed, wrapping her arms around the giant beast's head, a smile appearing on her face.
After waiting a moment, until Kuruzer raised its head again, Evans smiled and patted the giant beast's body. "Hermione has learned the Stomping Charm, and I need a drop of your blood to help her gain your abilities."
"Moo~"
The giant beast gently nodded and then rubbed its nose against Evans's cheek. A drop of blood was nothing to its massive body; they wouldn't even feel the pain of the blood being drawn.
After getting permission, Evans took out a small bottle, tapped his wand on the giant beast's lower leg, and without any visible movement, a drop of bright red blood floated at the tip of his wand and was placed into the bottle.
"Alright."
Patting the giant beast's body again, Evans set the small bottle aside. He half-removed his clothes, reaching both hands into his pockets simultaneously, as if carrying something very heavy. Then, Hermione watched with wide eyes as the professor pulled out a cauldron half his height from his clothes pocket and threw it onto the ground with a thud, its four corners sinking into the earth, demonstrating its sheer weight.
"Phew."
Clapping his hands, Evans took out a few more items from his pocket and tossed them all into the cauldron. "Dragon's Blood Grass, beetle powder, and a little fire ant acid…"
After throwing everything into the cauldron, he lightly tapped his wand, and flames drifted from the wand tip, landing beneath the cauldron. The acid in the pot began to dissolve the other ingredients with the help of high temperature and magic. Once only a pale green liquid remained in the cauldron, Evans poured in the Re'em blood from the side.
A pale white mist drifted into the air, and the aroma of fresh grass filled Hermione's nostrils. Looking back into the pot, the green solution had turned into a vibrant red liquid, faintly tinged with gold under the sunlight.
After waiting for a moment, Evans extinguished the flames, poured the liquid from the cauldron into a small bottle used for potions, and handed it to Hermione.
"This is the Bull's Might Potion. Drink it, and you will gain a trace of the Re'em's bloodline. It is very faint and will not change anything about you; it will only lie dormant within your body. If not activated, it will never produce an effect. But if you can successfully activate it and merge it with your magic, your Stomping Charm will become a true offensive spell."
"However, the method of activating it is not fixed. It might require you to be in mortal danger, or it might simply be a normal morning when it transforms into a part of your magic on its own."
Handing the small potion bottle to Hermione, Evans leaned against the giant beast, smiling slightly. "Now, it's up to you to figure out how to merge these two powers together."
