Chapter 5 - False Accusations
How to Tame My Beastly Husband — Chapter 5. False Accusations
This chapter has been re-worked by Regan, we have picked up the novel from chapter 64
It was only natural that he would worry. His new wife was so small. Her hands and feet looked dainty as a doll’s, and so did her delicate white face. He had to force himself to be harsh with her, but no matter how hard he tried to control his strength, his sword-trained grip was strong enough to hurt her. He had no choice but to let her go, in spite of his suspicions.
Annette slipped out of his grasp and rose from her seat. She didn’t want to miss this opportunity. Softly, she said good night, trying her best not to let it appear that she was running away from him.
“I’ll go back to my room today, Raphael, I think you had a little too much to drink. If you have any questions for me, let’s talk tomorrow when you are sober. I’ll be going now, then.”
Annette felt quite proud of herself, to finish her words so smoothly. She was able to conclude an argument rationally, all by herself.
Why couldn’t I do that in my previous life?
Because of that, she had always fought with Raphael.
We really fought badly back then.
Turning around, she felt a little sad. If she had handled it as well then as she did now, they would have hurt each other less. But it was rash to let her guard down with Raphael behind her. He was not a naive man who would release her so easily. The moment her hand touched the doorknob, all of her nerves suddenly stood up and screeched a warning of imminent danger. It was like the instinct of an herbivore when it sensed a predator approaching.
Annette turned her head in surprise. Or rather, she tried to turn. But her body was pinned between him and the door, and Raphael crushed her, immobilizing her. The feel of hot breath on her ears made her shudder.
“I told you, Annette. This is the first night of our honeymoon. You’re not running away from me.”
His deep, rasping voice sounded just like the low roar of a beast. And after speaking, his tongue licked her round earlobe. A spasm of panic went through her, and Annette tried to flee.
“Where are you going?”
The arms that imprisoned her from behind had no intention of letting her go. Annette was trapped between the door and his body, and before she knew what had happened, one hand caught the back of her thin chemise. His terrifying grip was so strong, the cloth tore in half and trailed loosely down her back.
“Ah……!”
Quickly, Annette grabbed for the front of her chemise, which was about to slip off. Somehow, she managed to keep from exposing her front, but she couldn’t do anything about her naked back.
Raphael was dazzled by the white skin revealed on her back. Bowing his head, he bit like a beast tearing into a rabbit’s neck, biting and sucking hard against the back of her neck. Annette gasped and almost stopped breathing. His rough breath stroked the elegant length of her nape and her body trembled. Goosebumps rose all over her skin.
Raphael’s hand reached from behind and pressed her shoulders down so she couldn’t move. Pinning her petite body against the door, he laid fervent kisses along her back. The sensation of his fingertips over her exposed shoulder blades was vivid.
“Shh…you’re going to stay still, aren’t you? Now that you’re my wife, Annette.”
Raphael bit her exposed earlobes gently, trying his best not to harm her. The soft, wet sounds and the feel of his tongue tracing the inside of her ear was too much for her. She squirmed, clinging to her chemise. She couldn’t understand why he was doing this. He had always looked at her with such cold hate in her eyes, but then he would touch and kiss her so passionately, as if he truly desired her.
What if he really does want to have the first night?
Trapped against the cold door, Annette was terrified. The first night of her previous life had been horribly painful. She had hoped that he would quickly satisfy whatever whim had seized him, but the kisses pouring over her neck were only growing hotter.
“Annette…Annette, my noble wife…” Raphael pressed his lips firmly against her, a groan of excitement escaping him as he interrogated her. “Please tell me directly with that mouth. Did you already give your body to the Crown Prince? Hmm?”
He still seemed to firmly believe those terrible accusations. She had been falsely accused of throwing herself at Ludwig because she wanted to be Crown Princess, and they claimed she had even gone so far as to harm her rivals.
The absurd misunderstanding was so embarrassing. Annette clenched her teeth, exasperated. Why couldn’t she have returned before the incident ever happened? If only she had, she could have avoided this malicious trap, and her future would have been so different.
But God had sent her back right afterward, and at this point, there was nothing she could do. As her beastly husband bit at her, she shuddered, appealing her innocence again.
“I’ve never done that, Raphael. I didn’t do anything with Ludwig, and…and this is my first time…”
Saying the words made her ears go hot. She wished she could ignore this ludicrous interrogation. But if Raphael intended to go through with their first night like this, she couldn’t be silent. She had paid a terrible price for her stupid silence in her previous life. Her first time then had been nothing but pain, and she didn’t want to endure that again.
But Raphael ignored this confession, laughing. His deep blue eyes flashed wickedly.
“As expected, the Bavarias have a reputation as expert liars,” he mocked. “Did your family educate you in deceit? You are pretty good.”
In anger, he sank his teeth into her delicate skin, hard enough to leave a mark. Startled, she trembled under him and turned her head to look up at him.
“Believe me, Raphael. I really…..”
“Who told you to look at me?”
Mercilessly, he forced her head back towards the door, a gesture that made it clear he didn’t even want to look at her. Facing the cold door, Annette bit her lips, despairing. She wanted to change this life, but how could she when Raphael hated her so much?”
Annette drew a deep breath, trying to regain her composure. Panic and despair accomplished nothing. Racking her brain, she tried to think of a way out of this, and after a moment, inspiration struck.
“I’m not lying,” she said, her voice soft, so she wouldn’t provoke the beast behind her. “I’ve never thrown myself at Ludwig, Raphael.”
He froze, and she felt his grip loosen. Maybe there was a hope that he would believe her. Earnestly, she tried to persuade him.
“Really, Raphael, I swear. Shall we do this? Tomorrow morning, call a practitioner you can trust, and let him…verify. I’ll cooperate. Would you believe me if I do that?”
Annette offered this suggestion quietly, hiding her resentment. Even now, after she had been sent back to the past, she still had to suffer these false accusations. It wasn’t fair that she had to go to such lengths to prove her innocence. At least Deltium’s medical practices were excellent, sufficient to prove it conclusively. This was the best way!
If only she had thought to do the same in her previous life. But Annette wouldn’t have dared. She would have been too ashamed. Because of this misunderstanding, her first night had been horrific. She had bled so severely that Raphael stopped in the middle of the act and raced out to fetch a doctor.
I won’t let that happen again.
Annette bit her lips, determined. But fortunately, something in her confidence must have gotten through to Raphael. Slowly, he lifted his lips from her smooth back. Even though she couldn’t look back at him, she could feel his blue eyes staring at her.
Plucking up her courage, she looked back. This time, she was not going to give up. Even if he grabbed her face again and turned it back, she would try it again, if it takes a hundred or a thousand times. She had a right to speak, and he couldn’t stop her.
“Raphael?”
His face was cold as she faced him. Shadowed by his pitch-black hair, that face was as perfectly shaped as a statue’s. Only the red lips under his sharp nose proved that he was alive. She wondered if there was a cold smile on those sensual lips, when suddenly a loud sound exploded beside her ear.
Bang!
“Aggghhhhhh!”
Annette instinctively ducked, screaming. Something fell on the ground beside her, and when she looked down, it was the remains of the door. The angry Raphael had shattered it with his fist.
Rafael looked down at Annette’s frightened face with a cruel smile.
“As expected of a Bavaria. So clever and cunning! It really pisses you off to see you lying so well with that innocent face.”
The cruel words struck her heart. She had thought she was handling it well this time, but she had been mistaken. Raphael had always been a mean and stubborn man. He would never believe her so easily. Seeing her face turn pale with shock, he smiled coldly.
“All right, let’s say you won today. F*ck the first night, just go anywhere. I don’t want to look at that face anymore.”
Removing his hand from the broken door, he turned heartlessly away. Annette had gotten used to seeing that rigid back and sighed inwardly. His temper was still the same, but she had no urge to cry. Maybe she had gotten used to it.
Someday, I’ll prove I am innocent.
And then she would get an apology from Raphael, for being so determined to misunderstand her.
Though she was walking barefoot down a long, dark hall, it was fine. She wasn’t going to do anything like her previous life. She wasn’t going to die as a weak woman who couldn’t do anything for herself. Gathering her courage, Annette lifted her head, filled with resolve.
