Chapter 11: Magical Meltdowns and Sizzling Spells
---
If you think school drama is exhausting, try coming home to four magically gifted girls who all think you belong to them.
The moment I stepped inside the apartment, I felt the air shift. Not spiritually—thermally.
Literally.
My slippers were warm. Too warm.
"Elira!" I yelped, hopping back. "Did you enchant my slippers again?"
She emerged from the corner, all calm and ominous. "Only slightly. I calibrated the heat to your body's optimal comfort zone."
"They were smoking!"
"Elira," Mei called sweetly from the kitchen, "remind me to calibrate your art pencils next time—to a melting point."
Sora, who had been sitting silently at the window with her enchanted hoodie tightening around her like armor, sighed. "This is going to be one of those nights."
Rina sauntered in, her necklace softly glowing. "Well, I just accidentally cast a charm on the mirror that makes it reflect only the most attractive person in the room." She turned to me. "Weird. It shows only me."
"Oh, please," Akane rolled her eyes, stepping between us with both hands on her hips. "I learned a barrier charm at school today."
A pulse of blue light rippled out from her, forming a sparkly dome around me. "He's off-limits for ten minutes. Training session."
I banged the dome. "Akane, you can't kidnap people with sparkles!"
"You're not kidnapped," she grinned. "You're just under protected house arrest."
Mei squinted. "Two can play this game."
She whispered a phrase, and her latest sketch floated up—a paper bird flapping toward Akane.
It slapped her forehead and exploded in a puff of glitter.
Akane screamed. "You put itchy powder glyphs on that?!"
Rina joined in the chaos, her necklace flaring as all the spoons in the kitchen started swirling around her. "Let's settle this like witches!"
Sora finally stood, the wind from her cloak blowing out a candle. "Enough."
Everyone froze.
She walked calmly to me, poked my forehead gently, and whispered a single word: "Mine."
And then sat back down.
No magic. Just terror.

Prepare for Magical Catfight Sequence…
I groaned and ducked behind the couch as glitter bombs, spoon daggers, and small, enchanted animals flew through the air.
All over me. All because I smiled one second too long at someone else.
Why did I think living with magical girls would be peaceful?
---
The apartment was… ruined.
Glitter stuck to the walls. Spoons were embedded in the ceiling like silver throwing knives. A tiny enchanted sock-monster clung to my arm, growling like a purring cat with rage issues.
I sat there on the living room floor, dazed, smelling like burnt cinnamon and regret.
Then—silence.
Too quiet.
The kind of quiet that meant someone was sulking.
"Okay," I muttered, brushing off my hoodie, "which one of you is about to passive-aggressively storm out?"
No one answered.
Sora had disappeared to the balcony, hood up, back turned. Akane paced the kitchen like a tiger denied prey. Rina sat with arms folded, aggressively not looking at me. Mei was flipping through her sketchbook, but the sound of pages turning felt like she was slapping me with every emotion I couldn't understand. Elira just stood still, eyes glowing faintly, scanning the room like a broken AI caught in a loop.
"Guys…" I tried, but my voice came out small.
"Don't 'guys' us," Mei said without looking up. "You smiled at Sora after her spell failed, but when I summoned a flaming jellyfish to defend your honor, you just blinked."
"I thought it was going to explode—!"
"It was romantic!"
Rina huffed. "It's obvious. You like mysterious, cold girls with silent trauma."
"That's oddly specific."
"Well, you looked at Sora like she invented gravity."
Akane banged the table. "Sora doesn't even try! I sparkled. SPARKLED, Ren."
I blinked. "You also kidnapped me in a bubble."
"And you're welcome."
Sora hadn't said a word. But when I turned toward her—her eyes briefly flicked in my direction. She held the gaze.
Just one second.
Then looked away.
That hurt more than all the glitter bombs combined.
My heart thudded.
"…Fine," I muttered. "Everyone, line up. We're going to talk. One by one."
No one moved.
"Seriously?"
Rina sniffed. "We're not fighting over you."
"You literally enchanted the mirror to show only you!"
"I was making a point!"
I exhaled and rubbed my temples. "Okay. New plan. No more spells until we talk like normal people."
Akane scoffed. "We're magical girls."
"Then magical girls with communication skills."
The sock-monster nodded. Even it agreed.

I looked around. One conversation could change everything.
I just didn't know who I'd hurt the most.
Or who I'd lose first if I chose wrong.
