Housekeeper in the dungeon

Chapter 52

EPISODE  52

Hee-na’s mouth dropped open.

“Huh?”

It was like watching a computer graphic, a plant moving so dynamically. Both Hee-na and Hee-won’s eyes widened at the sight.

“!Amazing!”

Oh, Sahngyi was also unsure of what it was and added a word of curiosity.

“Yi, what is this?”

Hee-na sat back in bewilderment and took a step back. At the same time, Hee-won noticed something in the air and let out a sigh.

“Wait. Hee-na, this is the second part of the quest.”

The quest description window had opened. Hee-Na tugged at her brother’s collar, half afraid.

“What does it say? Why is this thing moving like a bug?”

If it wasn’t for her brother’s precious plant, she would have used the ‘Exterminate Pests’ skill to crush it right away.

Hee-won didn’t realize it and read the description.

“Hmm……. Congratulations. Your pet plant has awakened from its long sleep. Naming something you don’t recognize makes it more familiar. Please give a friendly name to the pet plant that just woke up…….”

“My pet plant just woke up? Why does it need a name?”

Hee-Na frowned.

It wasn’t a pet, and she should have recognized it when it said ‘pet plant’. The system had never given her or her siblings anything sane and normal in the first place.

“Um……. What was I going to name it? I need to name it now.”

Meanwhile, Hee-won was busy thinking of a name for his pet plant, as if he were immersed in a quest. After a while, he thought for a while, and when he came up with a good name, he said, “Aha!” and spoke into the system window.

“Go, go, go. Whether it was a pet dog or a pet plant, Go is the best name.”

He even nodded, obviously proud of his naming sense.

Hee-Na was speechless and stood there watching the scene.

Of course, she couldn’t tell if it was the pet that had suddenly started moving or her brother, who had taken it in stride and given it the lame name of ‘Go.

Shaaaah, pot!

As soon as Hee-won named the plant, a pale glow emanated from the frantically flapping pet plant.

Like Tinkerbell scattering fairy dust, the blades of Go’s grass danced around and sparkled with light.

It sprinkled the dungeon soil, melting into the damp soil like snow and disappearing. It was a beautiful and bizarre scene.

“Oh!”

Hee-won exclaimed, wondering what else had happened there. Curious, Hee-na poked her brother in the side.

“Ouch!”

Hee-won grumbled as he rubbed his side, which had been mercilessly stabbed.

“He’ll explain in time, but I can’t wait.”

“So, what did you see in front of you that frightened you so much?”

Then Hee-won reached out and patted the haunted grass…… no, the ground where the go was planted, with her bare hands. To be precise, it was the radius where the light powder had fallen.

“That shiny thing fell to the ground and fertilized the soil, albeit weakly. It made the soil special?”

Hee-Na thought to herself.

“Maybe it wasn’t fairy dust, but golden poop dust?

Not knowing what her sister was thinking, Hee-won gently touched the soil with her fingertips.

“Is it just my senses? The texture of the soil seems to be better somehow…….”

Sarak, sarak.

The checkerboard gently curled around Hee-won’s fingers. It was as if she was being affectionate.

As she stared down at the scene, speechless for a moment, Hee-na’s skill window sparkled.

The grass is grass, and the Gleaning skill was cast. As usual, the question of whether or not it’s okay to eat this grass popped up.

However, it wasn’t like the usual one where the edibility and grade of the grass were displayed in less than a second. This time, it took quite a while.

After about 30 seconds, the results of the herb-picking skill appeared in front of Hee-na’s eyes.

Instead of just ‘grass’, it was a proper noun, ‘Badugi’, with a bunch of question marks instead of a rating.

“that was unusual…….”

I had never seen this before.

It’s not that it’s inedible, it’s that it’s not supposed to be eaten! It’s been that way since the beginning of time, but it seems like it’s not a normal plant.

‘It looks like a monster…….’

I was looking down at the go board while thinking about that. Hee-won shouted and slapped Hee-na.

“Hey, Hee-na, look at this!”

“Huh.”

Hee-na’s eyes widened in shock.

“Hehe.”

Oh, Sahngyi typed an exclamation into the air. Even for a snail that could talk, it was a shocking sight.

“What the hell, it’s alive and moving?”

I’ve seen plants that squirm and move in mimosas and flytraps, but I’ve never heard of or seen a plant that moves its roots and walks.

It was. It was pulling its roots out of the damp soil and walking on the ground.

It was so unreal. Hee-Na was at a loss for words and watched it through the corner of her eye.

“How cute.”

To the ‘farmer’, the scene didn’t seem strange, but Hee-won just clapped her hands together and cheered for Go’s first steps.

Cheered on by the cheerleaders, Baduk jumped up and down on Hee-won’s field. He was even faster than Oh Sae-yi, an animal with a plant theme.

After running for a while, Baduk began to run in circles around Hee-won, Hee-na, and Oh-saek. It was maddening to watch the tiny plant, about the size of a penny, move so quickly.

“Brother, calm him down.”

Hee-na poked Hee-won in the side. Hee-won, who was smiling like a father, dodged the piercing finger with an oops.

“If she’s so excited about walking, why is she running around like that? Leave her alone. He’s just a kid.”

Hee-won, meanwhile, was mesmerized by the walking plant and sided with the go player.

“Frivolous, frivolous, frivolous.”

Ocai pointed out the frivolity of the Go player, but Hee-won didn’t care.

“You’re so cheerful and nice.”

In fact, like an owner watching a cute puppy, Hee-won enjoyed watching Go’s antics.

Fortunately, it didn’t take long for the young, spirited Go player to tire and fall over.

After circling the group forty times, he stumbled into the weeds and flopped down on the fluffy ground.

Spreading his roots out on the ground, he sat down and, as if wiping his sweat, ruffled the leaves and stole a flower bud. There was something strangely human about him.

Immediately, Hee-won let out an exclamation.

“Huh? I got a quest.”

A task had popped up in front of her.

“What is it?”

At Hee-na’s urging, Hee-won summarized the quest and recited it to her.

“Take care of a young Go player who is exhausted. He needs nutrition.”

It wasn’t a nurturing game, but a lot of instructions. Hee-na shook her head.

“If it’s nutrition……. Do I need to buy fertilizer and spread it around? Are there any flower gardens open at this time of day?”

“No, it’s important to feed them with calcium during the growing season, so feed them eggshells or bones.”

“Calcium all of a sudden? Do plants have bones to make them stronger?”

“Well, yes.”

It was strange logic. But how many of the things the system told me to do made sense?

As ordinary non-combatants Awakened, Hee-Na and Hee-Won had no choice but to do what the system told them to do.

“It’s getting dark, let’s get him inside the house.”

Hee-won brought a small flower pot and scooped up some dungeon soil. Then he picked up Baduk and placed him in the pot. The Go accepted Hee-won’s touch graciously.

It even went so far as to lean its stem against the chin of the pot as if it were taking a bath.

“Who the hell are you?

Hee-na glanced suspiciously at Go. After all, it was the plant the system had told her brother to grow, so she wanted to believe it wasn’t strange.

As she carried the plant into the house, its buds moved around. It was as if it was exploring its surroundings.

I don’t know where its eyes are attached to, but it’s a wonder. …….

“We can feed them with the bones we found when we cleared the field.”

Hee-won went out into the field and searched through the mysterious bone grave. He picked out the smaller ones and returned with a handful in his hand.

Hee-na was no longer interested in the go player, so she headed to the kitchen.

She was busily preparing dinner when Hee-won called out to her.

“Hey, Hee-Na, I’m sorry, can you get me some eggshells, we’re running low on bones.”

She had just gotten groceries, so there were plenty of eggs in the fridge. Hee-Na nodded nonchalantly.

“I think we should have eggs for dinner tonight.

She cracked four eggs into a bowl. She was going to make a sunny-side-up egg roll, seasoned only with salt.

“Brother, here, eggshells. Give it to me.”

I put a clean, cracked eggshell in a bowl and handed it to Hee-won.

Hee-won broke the shell into the right size pieces. There was no sign of the bones from earlier.

Thinking about the whereabouts of the bones, she wondered how Hee-won had fed the eggshell to the Go player.

Hee-na stuck close to her brother’s side and watched the pots. The five-colored bird flew up to Hee-na’s head and stretched out its antennae.

“Are you going to put fertilizer in the pot?

But, as usual, Go had a knack for defying everyone’s expectations.
