Chapter 52: Honkai: Star Rail — Kamen Rider! [52]
"These are the Galaxy Rangers?"
Robin gazed out at the once-dead earth, now trembling violently under wave after wave of attacks, and couldn't help but murmur in awe.
The Galaxy Rangers—once a name heard only in whispers—had finally stepped back into the light after years of silence.
And the speed at which they gathered, the sheer force they brought... it surpassed any response she'd seen across the galaxy.
In all honesty, apart from the Xianzhou Alliance, she couldn't think of any other force in the galaxy capable of assembling so much power so quickly.
And even this was only the beginning. A stream of starlight continued to pour in—more ships, more fighters still arriving.
One after another, the incoming vessels seemed minuscule compared to the massive, corrupted planet before them.
But there were so many that, from a distance, it looked as though the entire world was being encircled.
When they caught sight of Zulo's partially revived planetary body, they didn't hesitate. No words, no orders—just a silent, unanimous agreement to engage.
The power of the Hunt within them gave a clear signal:
The thing rising in front of them was their sworn enemy.
And against an enemy like this, Lan—the Aeon of the Hunt—would grant them ever-growing strength, sharpening every blow they struck.
Especially with the faith and fury of the 15,632 who had already perished at Zulo's hands blazing within them. That number alone had become a rallying cry.
"You again?! You pathetic insects—why do you keep coming back just to die?!"
Zulo did not stay passive. Even while wounded, the planet itself exhaled—dense gray mist rising in swirling columns.
From that fog came monstrous shapes, forming into massive, winged beasts mid-flight.
Doomsday Beasts.
But these weren't ordinary ones—they were enhanced, forged by Zulo's own power.
They flew faster than Fang at Sora's side. Their attacks were strong enough to shred even the latest generation of ship armor like paper.
From the moment they appeared, their overwhelming force was obvious.
Each time the crimson claws of catastrophe swept through the air, arcs of light slashed outward—each one ending in a ship bursting into fire, vanishing like sparks in the galaxy.
From aboard the Royal Bergalo, Sora saw it all—and knew he couldn't stay idle any longer.
"...We can't just stand here and let others do the fighting while we take all the credit."
He opened the ship's hatch, buckling the W Driver to his waist.
"It's too dangerous out there—maybe you should—"
Anna started to speak, instinctively wanting to stop him. But Sora turned his back to her, raising his right hand with a confident thumbs-up.
"Danger or not, I have to go. I was the one who called them here—I have to fight beside them."
Anna stopped mid-step.
She knew there was no use trying to change his mind. Just like before, there was no reasoning with him once he decided.
That guy... he's always like this. He's been this reckless from the very beginning.
A smile tugged at the corner of her lips. She looked at him—and for once, instead of pleading with him to stay safe, she simply said:
"Then come back alive, alright?"
"Don't worry. We promised."
In that moment, the wind began to gather around Sora's body—swirling like it had chosen him, holding him aloft as he stepped out of the ship.
Caw—!
A chirp rang out. A birdlike streak darted after him.
Everyone's eyes locked onto the external monitor. There, they could see his form descending naturally—and as it fell, two brilliant colors began to envelope him.
"[Xtreme]!"
The little bird let out a joyful cry, merging with the transformation. Green, silver, and violet shone across his form.
A streak of green and purple burst into the sky—his Hardboilder catching him midair, carrying him toward the chaos.
His target, one of the Doomsday Beasts tearing through the Rangers' ships like paper.
"ROAR!!"
A furious roar echoed from its mouth. Its claws could rend ship armor in a single strike. Its speed left most pilots hopelessly outmatched.
It zipped effortlessly between vessels, a shadow in motion.
Larger capital ships capable of harming it dared not fire—afraid of hitting allies in the crossfire. That made it all the more dangerous.
But that ends now.
"[Prism Break]!"
The Prismbicker—sword and shield—appeared in Sora's hands. The Doomsday Beast seemed to notice the faint hum of its activation.
It glanced at him—at the tiny speck in the sky, smaller than even the smallest fighter.
A fly, it thought. Nothing more.
It raised its right claw—ready to swat.
The air howled as the beast swung down, unleashing a roaring pressure wave meant to obliterate Sora midair.
But instead of knocking him back, the winds circled around him, wrapping tight like a vortex.
He's getting stronger…?
The beast's own attack had backfired—buffing him instead of blowing him away.
Its massive claw swept through the sky—but Sora wasn't there.
He was already moving.
One by one, he slotted Gaia Memories into the Prismbicker.
"[Cyclone]!"
"[Joker]!"
"[Heat]!"
"[Luna]!"
Four cores glowed with radiant energy. The Prism Sword flared as Sora raised it toward the incoming claw.
He struck.
"[Bicker Charge Break]!"
A slash of rainbow light tore through the beast's hand.
It split clean down the center—a brilliant ribbon of color dancing along the wound.
For a moment, the creature couldn't comprehend what had just happened. How could its strongest weapon be cut in half?
And then—Sora leapt.
Winds spiraled around him, howling louder and louder as he unleashed a barrage of strikes.
Shiiing! Shiiing! Shiiing!
Each arc of his blade carved another gash across its body, streaks of red light blazing in the rainbow-colored storm.
Then, he closed the Driver—then opened it again.
"[Xtreme! Maximum Drive]!"
Green and black cyclones spiraled around him. Suspended midair, charged with planetary memory and power—
He dove.
"[Double Xtreme]!"
He crashed straight into the beast's chest.
Compared to the monster, Sora was nothing more than a dot.
But that single strike sent the Doomsday Beast plummeting from the sky.
"Haah—!!"
Friction scorched its body red as it fell—flames licking across its surface.
It tried to struggle, but it couldn't move.
That force—the weight crashing down on it—was the gravity of an entire planet.
There was no resisting it.
All it could do was fall.
BOOM—!!
An earth-shattering crash exploded outward. Dust blanketed the air.
The Doomsday Beast struck the ground—and a second explosion followed, wiping out the crimson tendrils that had spread across the battlefield.
A vast crater carved itself into the living earth.
Sora hovered above the blast zone, encased in a pale shield of energy.
Wind swirled around him—soft, whispering, fading—
We... want to fight too...
