Homelander's Guide to World Conquest

Chapter 1: Prologue: You're probably wondering how it got like this

Hughie Campbell couldn't breathe or see.

He was suffocating under the mountain of corpses made entirely up of soldiers that died trying to protect their country.

He struggled to move, but he made steady progress as he swam through the bodies as he made his way out and collapsed onto the ruined street.

He looked around him to see the ruined and collapsed buildings of New York. The air was thick with smoke and ash, Hughie could see that some buildings were still on fire.

New York had become a warzone.

High above, he could see fighter jets engaging in dog fights. He could hear their engines screaming loudly through the distant sounds of gunfire and screaming.

Hughie knew he didn't belong here. He wasn't a trained soldier or a supe, he was just a nobody who got recruited by the CIA because he could help them plant a bug in Vought Tower, fighting in urban warfare was not in his job description but he couldn't help himself. He couldn't let Annie and his friends endanger themselves while he stayed behind.

He had to do something; he couldn't let himself become a bystander as his loved ones died not again, not after Robin...

Hughie perked up as he heard someone approaching. Perhaps his friends were coming. He turned back, and his eyes widened in fear as he saw who it was. He knew who this woman was. She was personally responsible for the death of every soldier in the area.

The CIA knew her as Homelander's pet killer, codenamed 'Crimson Huntress'. She was rather hard to identify with the only available information being that she was a woman and that she liked to wear black no one knew anything about her besides that because either there was no living witness or cameras only caught a monster leaping from one man to the next while bathing in blood and guts.

Before today Hughie couldn't describe how the Crimson Huntress even looked like because no one had seen her face, but he knew the woman before him was the same one who had killed hundreds of soldiers and government officials.

She wore black clothing, and she was covered head to toe in blood.

'I never thought the Crimson Huntress would be Asian,' Hughie considered. It was a stupid thought to be having considering everything going on, but he was trying to make light of the situation because he knew that he was not getting out of here alive.

The Huntress narrowed her eyes as she slowly walked forward.

He didn't even bother to entertain the thought of running away because he knew she would quickly catch up.

Hughie noticed how the approaching woman's eyes widened, and she stopped mid step. He followed her line of sight as it led behind him towards a supe hovering above.

If Hughie was terrified when he saw the Crimson Huntress, he was now in despair when he saw Homelander.

His costume was scorched and torn in some areas such as the edge of his cape, with it looking like someone had ripped it in half. His usually smooth blonde hair was messy, looking like he had just gotten up from bed. He noticed a few dried bloodstains on his face but what drew the most of Hughie's attention was the large, friendly smile that he often saw on TV.

Homelander simply raised an eyebrow when they locked eyes," Hughie? What a pleasant surprise. Still cheating death, I see; you really do have the Devil's luck."

That wasn't the first time Homelander told him that. He brought it up on their first meeting, an encounter Hughie still didn't know how he survived.

Homelander continued, "That or my little Huntress is getting sloppy." The woman scowled when she heard that.

"Since you're here, you might as well tell me where Mallory and Soldier Boy are hiding,"

Hughie hated how Homelander could sound so relaxed as the world burned around them. He hated that confident smirk that he constantly wore as if everything was going according to his design.

But Hughie knew the truth, Homelander was scared. That's why he's being so desperately hunting for Soldier Boy the only man who could harm him," Fuck you." It felt so satisfying to say that after everything this monster had done.

Homelander's smile only widened, and his blue eyes transitioned to glowing red ones," How ironic those were Butcher's final words as well."

The last thing that ran through his mind before Hughie died was of his family.

His father, MM, Frenchie, Mallory and Annie.

'I'm sorry'

Kimiko Miyashiro's eyes moved from the charred ashes of that Hugh guy and towards the man that was slowly flying down to her.

Despite having worked for him for years now she still didn't know how to classify their relationship not that he bothers to even try. One moment he was ordering her to kill innocent families because he knew it bothered her and simply wanted to see her reaction for his own amusement and the next minute they were drinking and laughing over how stupid and degenerate most supes were.

'We could have interrogated him' she signed as she tried to hold back her frustration

"We could have but that would have been boring, Hughie is too easy to break. It wouldn't be a challenge." Homelander replied with overwhelming callousness.

'Is now really the time for your games?' She glared at him. Kimiko answered to him but sometimes it felt like between the two she was the only one who seemed to give a fuck about his success while he just messed around.

Homelander shrugged," You really need to learn how to relax my dear Huntress."

Kimiko gave him the finger; he knew what she thought of that stupid nickname, but her boss/master/friend? never missed a chance to get under her skin. 'What now? The president has declared you and Vought traitors'

Homelander frowned when she brought that up. She knew that he was still bitter by Mallory convincing the President to betray Vought. Homelander used to constantly brag about how he had the President in his back pocket, but it seemed his hold wasn't as tight as he thought.

"Now we clean up Kimiko. They seem to think that there's still a chance to stop me but all they're doing is delaying the inevitable. I think it's high time they remember who they're playing with." His eyes briefly glowed crimson before returning to their usual blue.

Kimiko shook her head, wasn't he just telling her to relax? This guy should really be more consistent.

Choosing to work for this man was both the greatest and worst moment of her life but then again at least things weren't boring.
