Chapter 14: Chapter 8: The Ripple of Peace
The dawn over the Hidden Mist was quiet, the storm clouds finally gone, leaving behind broken streets and tired shinobi.
But they were alive.
And for now, that was enough.

A Village Rebuilding
Boruto yawned as he helped clear rubble from the village square, sweat mixing with the mist clinging to his hair.
"Man, we fight off chakra ghosts, and now we're hauling bricks," he grumbled.
Sarada rolled her eyes as she passed, stacking debris with precise movements. "It's called responsibility."
Boruto mimicked her under his breath, earning a kunai flicked at him that stuck in the wall an inch from his ear.
"Relax, Sarada! I'm helping!" Boruto squeaked.
Nearby, Ryo worked silently, vines sprouting from his hands to lift collapsed beams, setting them aside gently. Children peeked out from behind corners, eyes wide as they watched the boy with vines growing from his arms.
One small boy, clutching a cracked wooden kunai, stepped forward. "Are you… are you the one who stopped the storm?"
Ryo paused, looking at the child, then at the villagers working around them.
Slowly, he nodded.
The boy's eyes lit up, and he bowed deeply. "Thank you, big brother!"
Ryo's chest tightened, warmth flooding the cold spaces fear had left behind. He reached out, ruffling the boy's hair gently.
"You're welcome," he said softly.

Chojuro's Words
Later, Chojuro met them in what remained of the Mizukage's office, a room with shattered windows but a sturdy desk, papers weighted down with kunai to keep the sea breeze from scattering them.
"You have done the Hidden Mist a great service," Chojuro said, bowing his head to Team Boruto. "And you, Ryo, you carry a power that is frightening, but you used it to protect."
Ryo shifted uncomfortably. "I… I didn't want anyone to get hurt."
Chojuro smiled faintly. "That's exactly why you're strong."
Boruto grinned, throwing an arm around Ryo's shoulders. "See? I told you."
Sarada smirked, adjusting her glasses. "Don't let it get to your head."
Ryo managed a small laugh, the sound surprising him in its softness.
Chojuro's expression grew serious. "Kuro's storms are a threat to all the nations. I will send word to Naruto. If he moves again, we will stand with Konoha."
Boruto's grin turned sharp. "Good. Next time, we're going to catch him."
---
Kuro's Reflection
Far away, deep in the mountains, Kuro stood in the dark, the Chakra Resonance Core floating before him, its glow reflecting off the cavern walls.
Aika stood nearby, arms folded, her pale eyes unreadable. "You failed."
Kuro did not look at her. "No. I learned."
The Core pulsed, showing ghostly images of Ryo wrapped in green chakra, vines entwining lightning as he used the storm's power against Kuro.
"He can harness the Resonance," Aika said, watching the projection. "He's dangerous."
"He is hope," Kuro corrected softly. "Hope that the world can be changed."
Aika's eyes narrowed. "And if he continues to resist?"
Kuro's masked gaze turned to her, cold and unwavering. "Then the world will break, with or without him."
Outside, the wind howled, carrying the scent of approaching rain.
---
Return to Konoha
The boat ride back was quieter than before.
Boruto snored against a crate of supplies, a faint line of drool at the corner of his mouth, while Sarada quietly read a scroll, the ocean breeze lifting her hair as she studied the storm data.
Ryo stood at the stern, watching the waves, the mark on his wrist hidden beneath a glove, but warm, alive, pulsing in rhythm with his heart.
"I used it to protect."
For the first time, that thought did not frighten him.
---
As they approached the Konoha gates, Naruto was there to greet them, his orange cloak flaring in the breeze, Sasuke standing quietly beside him, arms folded.
Boruto leapt off the boat, grinning. "Mission accomplished!"
Sarada followed, nodding respectfully. "Lord Seventh."
Ryo stepped forward, bowing slightly, before looking up into Naruto's warm, steady eyes.
Naruto smiled. "Welcome home."

The Counterstrategy
In the Hokage's council room that night, Naruto, Sasuke, Shikamaru, and the Jonin Commanders gathered, maps of the Five Nations spread before them, chakra storm reports marked in red.
"The Hidden Mist was only the beginning," Shikamaru said, pinching the bridge of his nose. "These storms are getting stronger, and Kuro is testing our responses."
Sasuke's Rinnegan glowed faintly. "He's gathering data, preparing for something bigger."
Naruto's eyes hardened. "Then we'll prepare too."
He looked at Sasuke. "Any leads on Kuro's movements?"
Sasuke nodded. "I'll continue tracking the rogue nations. There are whispers that Kuro is gathering support from those who wish to see the Five Nations fall."
Shikamaru sighed, lighting a cigarette. "It's a mess. But we have one advantage."
He looked at Naruto, then at the door where Ryo waited, having been summoned.
Ryo stepped into the room, bowing. "Lord Seventh?"
Naruto smiled, gesturing him forward. "Ryo, you are that advantage."
Ryo's eyes widened. "Me?"
Naruto nodded. "You can control the Resonance. Kuro's storms respond to you. We're going to train you, help you master it."
Ryo swallowed, fear and determination swirling in his chest. "And if I lose control?"
Naruto placed a hand on his shoulder. "You won't. Because we'll be here."
Sasuke stepped forward, his single visible eye calm but intense. "I will train you personally."
Ryo's breath caught. "Lord Sasuke…"
Sasuke smirked faintly. "You'll need to be ready. Kuro's next move will decide everything."

The Calm Before the Climax
That night, Ryo stood on the Hokage Monument, looking out over Konoha, the village lights flickering like stars below.
Boruto and Sarada joined him, silent, standing on either side.
Boruto broke the silence first, his grin soft. "Scared?"
Ryo hesitated, then nodded. "A little."
Sarada smiled faintly. "Good. It means you care."
Boruto clapped Ryo's back, nearly making him stumble. "We're in this together."
Ryo looked at them, the fear in his chest meeting the warmth of their presence.
He looked out at the village again, the mark on his wrist pulsing, and whispered:
"I will protect this world."
---
Far away, Kuro looked into the Resonance Core, his reflection warping in its glow.
"The final storm is coming," he whispered.
And in the shadows, the world held its breath.
