Hokage travelling to crused world - why everyone is traitor

Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Obito - Kakashi, You Have to Think More!

Meanwhile…

In the Land of Fire, far from Konoha, three figures moved leisurely through the countryside. They had left the Land of Waves days ago, yet rather than rushing back to Konoha, they had chosen to take their time, observing the world around them.

Senju Hashirama, legendary First Hokage, wanted to see how the world had changed in his absence. He had once fought to end the Warring States Period, creating the foundation for the village system. Now, he was curious about what had become of it.

Uchiha Obito, a man from another world, was fascinated by this version of the Shinobi World. Compared to the Empire he hailed from, everything here felt strange, yet familiar.

And then there was Kakashi Hatake, or rather, Shiro Kakashi, an alternate version of the man known as the Copy Ninja. His presence was an enigma, yet for now, he was just another observer.

The three continued their journey, stopping often to visit towns and villages, noting the stark differences between the empire Obito came from and the Land of Fire in this world.

A Shocking Reality

Hashirama sighed deeply as they left a prosperous town, its streets bustling with merchants and travelers. At first, he had felt a sense of accomplishment—seeing how far the world had come since the Warring States Period.

But that feeling was short-lived.

"Why is this happening...?" Hashirama muttered, his expression darkening.

Despite its wealth, the Land of Fire was filled with corruption. The deeper they looked, the uglier the truth became.

Obito, who had been observing the town closely, finally voiced his frustration.

"Why are there so many casinos in the Land of Fire?!" he exclaimed. "Almost every town we've visited has them! And not just one—there are entire districts dedicated to gambling!"

Indeed, the town they had just left was filled with casinos. From small, shadowy dens to massive, brightly lit gambling halls, the vice of gambling was everywhere.

Kakashi, momentarily pulling his attention away from the book in his hands, glanced at Obito. "Isn't it like this in your empire?"

The book he was reading wasn't his usual Icha Icha Paradise, but rather a collection of political teachings from Obito's world—something the latter had insisted he read.

Obito scoffed. "Of course not! Gambling destroys lives. The empire cracked down on it hard. There were still some who lost everything, but at least we controlled it. Here, it's like no one cares."

After the empire was established, strict laws were imposed to regulate gambling. While certain zones were permitted to have casinos, they were heavily monitored. Yet, even under control, lives were still ruined by it.

Kakashi, flipping another page, mused aloud, "Casinos have existed for centuries. Completely banning them is unrealistic."

Hashirama, however, looked even more troubled. His voice was grave as he said, "Even if gambling can't be banned completely, there are lines that shouldn't be crossed. We saw it with our own eyes earlier—people selling their own children to cover their debts!"

Obito clenched his fists. "That was disgusting."

Not long ago, they had seen a desperate man in a casino, on his knees, begging for one last chance. He had lost everything—his home, his money—so he wagered the only thing he had left: his own child.

And no one stopped him.

Konoha has existed for over sixty years, yet this still happens?!

Kakashi exhaled. "As disturbing as it is, these things are under the daimyo's rule. It's not something shinobi interfere with."

Hashirama looked shocked. "What do you mean 'not something shinobi interfere with'?! What's the point of creating villages if we can't even protect our people from something like this?!"

Obito crossed his arms. "That's what I don't get either." He turned to Kakashi with an annoyed expression. "Why do you shinobi follow the orders of weak, talentless, and utterly useless nobles? In my world, those without ability don't get to rule over those who do."

Kakashi blinked. "That's how it's always been."

Obito snorted. "And has anyone ever stopped to ask if that's right?"

Kakashi hesitated. He turned to Hashirama. "You founded Konoha. Why didn't you overthrow the daimyo back then?"

For once, Hashirama was at a loss for words. "I… I thought it was the best way to maintain peace at the time."

Obito sighed. "You see, Kakashi? Just because something has always been a certain way doesn't mean it's right. You have to think more!"

Kakashi frowned but said nothing, flipping to another page of the book.

The Village Under Attack

Suddenly, Hashirama's eyes narrowed.

"Something's happening up ahead."

The three men tensed. Shouts and screams filled the air, the distant clash of steel confirming their fears.

Without hesitation, they increased their speed, sprinting toward the disturbance.

As they reached the source of the noise, their suspicions were confirmed—a village was under attack.

Houses burned. People ran for their lives. A group of bandits, clad in mismatched armor and wielding crude weapons, rampaged through the settlement, pillaging everything in sight.

Women and children screamed as they were dragged from their homes. Men who resisted were cut down mercilessly.

Kakashi's eyes narrowed. "Bandits. They're raiding the village for supplies, money, and… other things."

Hashirama's chakra flared, his fury barely contained. "This is the Land of Fire's 'peace'? Bandits running unchecked in broad daylight?!"

Obito's Sharingan spun to life. "Kill them all."

Without another word, the three warriors launched into action.

Obito blurred forward, a kunai flashing in his hand as he impaled the nearest bandit through the throat. With a quick twist, he pulled it free and threw it at another, the blade embedding in the man's forehead.

Hashirama slammed his hands together. "Wood Release: Great Forest Emergence!"

Thick wooden tendrils erupted from the ground, coiling around the bandits, crushing them beneath their weight. The sheer power of his jutsu sent shockwaves through the battlefield.

Kakashi vanished in a blur of lightning, his Raikiri piercing through the heart of a bandit leader. "You're in the wrong place at the wrong time."

The remaining bandits panicked. "Ninja! We're doomed!"

Obito smirked coldly. "Yes, you are."

He blurred again, appearing behind another man. "Too slow." His Mangekyō Sharingan activated, warping the screaming man into Kamui's void.

Within minutes, it was over. The bandits lay dead, their bodies scattered across the burning village.

As silence returned, Hashirama clenched his fists. "This isn't just about bandits. The world is broken. This kind of suffering shouldn't exist in the strongest country in the world."

Obito turned to Kakashi. "Now do you see? Your system is flawed. The empire wouldn't let this happen."

Kakashi said nothing, his mind racing with questions.

Obito shook his head. "Think about it, Kakashi. You have to think more."
