Hogwarts: Third Dark Lord

Chapter 107: Chapter 107: Mastery of Magic and Martial Arts

A sudden turn of events stunned everyone present, drawing gasps from the audience watching the Quidditch match unfold.

The nearest to Wentworth was Kirk, who froze momentarily but quickly sprang into action. He mounted his broomstick and dived toward the rapidly plummeting Wentworth.

Although Kirk reacted swiftly, Wentworth was already in Marcus Flint's grasp, falling from the sky. With the acceleration of gravity and the combined weight of two people, it seemed impossible for Kirk to reach them in time.

Despite this, Kirk refused to give up. He dove recklessly, accelerating without regard for his own safety, even as the risk of crashing into the ground loomed. Yet, the gap between them only seemed to grow wider.

On the other side of the pitch, Cedric Diggory, who had been running toward the field to celebrate with his friends, stopped in his tracks. Gritting his teeth, he dashed toward the area where Wentworth was about to land. He knew his current magical abilities wouldn't be enough to slow Wentworth's fall with a Levitation Charm.

As Cedric neared the spot where Wentworth was hurtling toward the ground, he extended his arms without hesitation. At that moment, Cedric didn't consider the consequences of catching someone falling at such speed—it could be catastrophic.

Fortunately, the Quidditch pitch wasn't just filled with students watching the first match of the new Hogwarts term. Professors, who had started to leave the stands, turned back at the sound of the crowd's panicked shouts and quickly assessed the situation.

"Wingardium Leviosa!"

Multiple voices rang out in unison. Several Levitation Charms, cast by different professors, struck Wentworth and Marcus Flint simultaneously.

Wentworth was enveloped in at least four Levitation Charms, while Marcus Flint was cushioned by just one—cast by Professor Snape.

With both individuals suspended about three meters from the ground, the audience collectively exhaled in relief.

However, Kirk, still in freefall, either failed to stop his broom or chose not to. He crashed directly into Marcus Flint, who was floating mid-air.

The collision sent both of them tumbling to the Quidditch pitch. They rolled several times across the grass before coming to a stop, prompting a new wave of screams from the crowd.

As soon as Kirk stopped rolling, he sprang to his feet, straddled Marcus Flint, and pinned him to the ground. His face contorted with fury, Kirk shouted:

"What were you thinking, you bastard? Were you trying to kill him? That was attempted murder! You're a murderer!"

While Marcus Flint lay immobilized beneath Kirk, none of the professors—including Headmaster Dumbledore—intervened immediately. Instead, they rushed toward Wentworth.

Snape frowned at the sight, but upon noticing that Ilona had already drawn her wand, he decided it was best to let Kirk vent his anger for the time being.

"How are you feeling, Wentworth?" Cedric asked, supporting the shaken boy.

Wentworth shook his head silently, indicating he was fine. But as his gaze shifted to Marcus Flint, pinned under Kirk, he instinctively reached for his pocket—only to remember that he had left his wand in the locker room before the match.

Once assured of Wentworth's safety, everyone turned their attention to Marcus Flint.

"Kirk, let him go!" Professor McGonagall commanded sternly.

Kirk hesitated, his grip still firm. It wasn't until Wentworth himself spoke, accompanied by several other professors, that Kirk relented.

"Senior Kirk, let him go," Wentworth said.

Reluctantly, Kirk released Marcus but grabbed his hair to haul him to his feet.

In the next instant, Wentworth surged forward and delivered a powerful kick to Marcus Flint's abdomen, sending him flying!

If Cedric hadn't held him back, Wentworth might have landed several more blows.

"My goodness, Wentworth! How could you—" McGonagall began in shock, only to be interrupted by Ilona.

"Wentworth! This isn't how a wizard resolves conflicts. You should handle matters the wizarding way!" Ilona scolded, handing her wand to Wentworth.

Wentworth glanced at the professors surrounding them, sighed in frustration, and returned Ilona's wand.

"Thank you, Professor Ilona, but I practice both magic and martial arts."

Ilona: "???"

As Wentworth's anger subsided, Dumbledore, who had remained silent until now, spoke:

"Let's first ask Marcus Flint why he did such a thing."

Snape stepped forward, grabbed Marcus Flint by his collar, and dragged him before the group.

Marcus, visibly trembling, appeared utterly terrified and unable to comprehend his own actions. Yet, when his eyes met Wentworth's, his expression darkened with a look of pure hatred.

"You—"

Just as Wentworth's temper flared again, the atmosphere around the pitch shifted dramatically.

The professors, including Dumbledore and Ilona, surrounded Marcus Flint.

"Everyone, return to your dormitories at once!" McGonagall shouted, urging the students to leave.

Confused by this sudden change, Wentworth hesitated, unsure what was happening.

After a brief examination, Ilona declared, "This wasn't the Imperius Curse. There are traces of a curse, but it's different from the Imperius."

Snape leaned closer to Marcus's face, then jabbed him sharply in the side. Marcus let out a cry of pain, and Snape noted, "There's a lingering scent of potion—though I can't determine which one just yet."
