Hogwarts: the magic of music

Chapter 28: The violin.

With Cedric's help, we moved the equipment to classrooms 1-15. For now, at least, walking up to the 7th floor gets to be a hassle.

At lunch we were the talk of hogwarts, people kept asking if and when were were going to do another, I waved them off saying at the end of the school year. That was part of the deal with Professor McGonagall. She allowed us because it was the start of term, but she did not want us to affect our schooling or anybody else, so we weren't allowed to do another gig until after the tests.

My friends and I just hang out for the rest of the day. That night I was sitting on my bed in the dorms, when I decided to pull out Maryann's violin. I was looking it over its brown vanished wood, feeling the weight in my hand.

"What's that?" Tim asked.

"A violin" I answered.

"I know that, but why do you have it?" Tim asked.

"It was in my families vault" I said "now you mention it I'm not sure why I have it?" I looked at the violin, puzzled as to why I had taken it.

"You tried playing it?" Granylt asked.

"It didn't have a bow" I answered.

"And you didn't buy a replacement." He asked.

"I was then I forgot about the violin all together" I answered "until like just know when I was reading bewitching strings".

"What made you remember it ?" Grant asked.

"Just a note on the side saying you can use wands with the proper spell as a bow," I said. "But I don't think I'm ready yet." I put the violin away.

"What does that mean," Tim asked.

"I'm not sure, just a feeling I get when I hold it," I explained.

"Weird", Grant said.

"Eh, it's Eddie. Everything is weird with him."

Tim said

The next weekend, we headed down to the quidditch pitch for the exhibition of speed quidditch. Dumbledore had announced the exhibition match on Monday, and people seemed pretty excited about it, or just the general excitement of a quidditch match. We normally had 2 matches a month. This was a 3rd, so people were happy.

We were standing with the Hufflepuff in the stadium. Susan and Hanah were also with us.

"Good morning, Hogwarts." Lee Jordan's voice echoed across the stadium. "Today we have a special event, a new form of quidditch, called speed quidditch; today in the booth, I have one of the inventors of the game first year, Gryffindor Dean Thompson."

"Happy to be here, Lee", Dean said.

"So Dean tells all about speed quidditch," Lee asked.

"Speed quidditch, is an adaptation of the rules, the game will go for 90 minutes, plus an extra ten minutes if the teams are tied at the end. The snitch will not end the game and will only be worth 30 points if caught." Dean said. "of course, because the game doesn't with the snitch capture, another switch will be released 1 minute after a successful capture." He explained.

"Why make these changes?" Lee asked.

"Simple, the game of quidditch usually comes down to who catches the snitch and when. We wanted to eliminate that huge problem and get the chasers' keepers a more active role." Dean explained. "The seekers could still get the most points in a game, but they have to work for it."

"Let's see if it works," Lee said. "Today's match is between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. They have known about the upcoming match for the last two weeks, and I have personally asked the captains if they have any strategies", Lee continued. "They both said go away, Lee. We're not telling you our secrets." That got a laugh from the crowd.

The game was on, and the crowd was cheering; the chasers and keepers were on fire. The snitch had been caught twice by hufflepuff seeker, to my surprise wasn't Cedric but a sixth year named heath smith. Cedric was playing as a chaser, and he was quick and talented. After 45 minutes, the score was 120 - 90 Hufflepuff. It was the half-time rest. And after a blistering first half, it seemed like a success. Next year will probably see the birth of the speed quidditch. The second half was a fierce battle between chasers, ravenclaw had caught the snitch tieing up the game for a while but the hufflepuffs pushed with attack after attack. By the 90 minutes, Hufflepuff had a 40-point lead and won the game 240-200.

Hey, going back and editing past chapters is taking some time, so please be patient. Also, I am still trying for two chapters a day. A question about that: do you like 1 every 12 hours, or would you want both to come out simultaneously?

I am working on my grammar and spelling, but I'm not a literary genius.
