Chapter 95: Chapter 95 – Bloodline Sublimation Ceremony
Chapter 95 – Bloodline Sublimation Ceremony
The ceremony began not long after. The initial phase—preparation—would take anywhere from four to seven days.
Since his ancestors had agreed to perform the highest-level version of the ritual, and Phineas had already taken leave from Hogwarts, they naturally chose the full seven-day preparation.
During this time, Phineas had to provide his ancestors with samples of his own body: blood, nails, hair, saliva, tears, and more. Simultaneously, he took potions like Buffy's Brain-Refreshing Draught and others that enhanced his mental and physical capabilities.
The cost of these potions alone over seven days was equivalent to, or even exceeded, what the Weasley family might spend in two years.
After this came the seven-day magical phase of the ceremony. In theory, it could be done in three days, but for the highest standard, they extended it to the full seven.
Those days were even more grueling. For the entire week, Phineas had to continually drink potions, brew others, and endure ancestors chanting spells beside him.
As he soaked in each potion, one of his ancestors would prepare a new brew, combining it with rare materials and drawing magical symbols directly onto Phineas's skin. Among the markings were runes he recognized, vampire glyphs he'd once encountered, and even unfamiliar scripts absent from the Ravenclaw legacy.
"In truth, we don't fully understand these words anymore," one ancestor admitted. "The bloodline sublimation ceremony has always used them. For basic ceremonies, only runes are necessary. For higher levels, other scripts are added. Yours is the top level, so it includes them all."
Phineas could have tolerated this—if not for the part where the markings had to remain intact, preventing him from bathing. The potion residues dried on his skin, forming a hardened shell over time, a process that lasted the full seven days.
Had the ceremony been only a three-day affair, this wouldn't have been so bad—but his was the full seven-day ritual.
In the potion room, a magic circle had been carved into the stone floor. Each day, after the brewing and inscriptions were complete, one of his ancestors would donate their own blood to the circle. By the seventh day, the entire circle was filled.
At last, one of them handed Phineas a small vial of bright red potion.
It had a taste unlike anything he'd ever known—sour, sweet, bitter, spicy, and overlaid with an indescribably fishy tang. It was utterly revolting, and he had to force it down.
But the effects were immediate. As soon as he swallowed it, Phineas felt a dramatic surge: his magic power, mental clarity, and even his lifespan seemed to expand in that instant.
The ancestors began chanting and casting spells in unison, and the magic circle activated.
Phineas blacked out.
When he awoke, his ancestors informed him that the ritual was complete—and that he could finally bathe because, in their words, he stank.
Phineas couldn't help but feel indignant. They were the ones who forbade him from cleaning himself, and now they were the ones complaining?
But the results were undeniably worth it.
According to his system interface, his magic points had skyrocketed—from 350, already above average for his age, to 500, the adult wizard standard.
His health points rose from 3000 to 4000. For context, a normal human had a base of only 2000.
A previously stagnant stat—Exploration—rose from 0% to 30%. It didn't refer to literal exploration, but to Phineas's ability to perceive ambient magical traces.
Previously, he'd needed to activate Jonathan's Echo to detect magic. Now, he could sense it unaided—unless the traces were exceptionally ancient or faint.
Another new stat appeared: Bloodline – 50%.
Through the system's feedback, Phineas learned that this represented the concentration of magical beast blood within him. He was now, officially, a hybrid of some magical creature.
Though many pure-bloods in the wizarding world looked down on magical creature hybrids, such bloodlines came with undeniable strengths. Take Professor Flitwick, a master of Charms with goblin ancestry. Or Hagrid, whose giant heritage granted him immense durability and resistance to magic. Or the French Delacour family, with their Veela blood and enchanting beauty.
Though Phineas wasn't yet sure which magical creature his bloodline descended from, he could already feel new magical talents and resistances awakening.
His command of combat spells was smoother and more powerful than ever. The Cruciatus Curse no longer affected him as intensely—a discovery he owed to his merciless ancestors, who had tested him with nearly every Unforgivable.
Even his magical control had improved. He could now consciously adjust spell strength—choosing, for example, whether the Killing Curse merely knocked someone unconscious or took their life.
If he had a wand capable of handling immense magic—like Slytherin's own—Phineas could even channel deadly force through a simple Stunning Spell.
But that, of course, required a wand not limited by normal magical constraints.
