Chapter 6: 6. Transfiguration
Dante felt the excitement and curiosity deep within him as he worked quietly in the mansion's magical workroom. The previous day's Transfiguration experiments with his father's wand had only shown him the intricacies of magical power.
Today, Dante had two important goals in mind: First, to master the transformation spells he could cast with his wand; and second, to experiment with his own potions, guided by the rare potion books in the library.
The manor's magical workspace was meticulously organized to serve these purposes. Charms powered by ancient runes hung on the walls; glowing torches hung from the ceiling, filling the air with magic. Every spell cast here was carefully planned to enhance the safety of the house without harming the outside world.
As the morning light filtered through the large windows, Dante walked slowly to his desk. Objects were lined up on the table, traces of previous transformation spells he had cast with his father's wand, but each time he had gotten a little better.
Today, Dante wanted to try something new. He gripped the wand tightly in his hand, took a deep breath, and mentally recalled his father's old words: "Magic is a combination of intention and concentration."
He visualized an old chalice on the table. It had once been used for family meals and was now the ideal target for the transformation spell he was about to attempt. Using his father's wand, Dante planned to transform the goblet into a simple plate. This was one of the basic transformation spells taught in the Transfiguration class at Hogwarts.
He raised his wand and slowly concentrated. When he closed his eyes, he felt a slight tremor in his heart; it was as if he felt the warm presence of his father. "Tabula Transformo!" hewhispered in a soft but firm voice as hefelt inside.
The light emanating from the tip of his wand moved toward the goblet. For a few seconds, time seemed to stand still. The metallic surface of the goblet began to vibrate slightly, as if transforming into a liquid substance.
Then, gradually, the edges of the cup began to soften, expand, and finally transform into a round bowl. When the transformation was complete, there was an elegant, gleaming plate in front of him.
Dante opened his eyes with a slight smile of accomplishment.
His wand had performed this transformation perfectly.
Ordinary wizards didn't realize the importance of Transfiguration because it was difficult to advance in the field, but wizards like Dumbledore and Voldemort were able to combine it with other spells to make it very powerful and effective.
Dante's curiosity drove him into other areas. The rare potion books he had carefully selected from the library, smelling of antiquity, were carefully placed in one corner of this magical workspace. Dante moved to the other end of the table, where there was an old cauldron, a grinder, several glass bottles, and a shelf of labels. All of these items bore the marks of lectures on the intricacies of potion preparation.
First, he carefully opened one of the books, "Mysterium Elixirum".
The first pages of the book described in detail the basics of potion preparation, how to prepare a list of ingredients, grinding techniques, and mixing secrets.
As Dante turned the pages and read the notes, he realized how important potions were in the world of magic.
Dante carefully arranged the ingredients. He decided to make a simple but effective healing potion for his first test. The recipe was known as "Vita Elixir," a potion that accelerated the healing of minor injuries and gave energy and vitality.
The book listed the ingredients for this potion in detail: Dried lavender flowers, silver water, finely ground mint leaves, a few drops of moonlight essence, and, of course, a little patience and attention.
First, Dante poured fresh silver water into a small glass vessel. Then he carefully added the dried lavender flowers.
The lavender began to give off the light, refreshing scent of the room.
Next, he carefully ground the mint leaves and added them to the container.
Finally, he added a few drops of Moonlight Essence from a small bottle. The moonlight essence was a mystical touch to the elixir, adding the peace and mystery of the night.
Once the ingredients were combined, Dante began to gently stir the mixture. At this stage, every move was made with great care. Gradually, the potion began to swell and a soft glow began to infuse it.
During the mixing process, Dante completely emptied his mind and focused on feeling the energy of the ingredients. Each ingredient had its own spirit. The soft, refreshing energy of the lavender flower, the invigorating effect of the mint leaf, and the mystical touch of the moonlight essence, all skillfully blended together, created a magnificent harmony.
As he stirred, Dante thought of the room he would be working on tomorrow.
The cauldron gradually took on a pale blue-green color. The potion created tiny bubbles inside, which trembled slightly. Dante watched the mixture with great attention. After a few minutes, the potion was finally ready. He poured it carefully through a sieve and carefully into glass bottles. He attached small labels to each bottle: "Vita Elixir." The bright color of the elixir came alive under the dim lights of the mansion.
After placing the bottles on the table, Dante took a deep breath and closed his eyes. He felt a sense of satisfaction and pride. He had successfully taken his first steps in both transmutation spells and potion making.
Dante picked up the vial of Vita Elixir. The liquid in the vial glowed faintly in the dim light of the room.
After watching the glowing liquid of the Vita Elixir in the bottle for a while, Dante walked away from the table and collected his thoughts. Preparing the potion had exhausted both his mind and body, but the feeling of satisfaction was worth it. Just then, the door to the room opened slightly and Vippy, the house elf, entered wearing a shabby teapot patterned apron.
"Young Master Dante," Vippy said in a respectful yet affectionate voice. "It is past noon. You have been working a long time, and you need to eat. It is not good to practice magic on an empty stomach, sir."
Dante was used to Vippy's cheerful yet insistent manner. He rolled his eyes, but nodded with a smile on his face. "Okay, Vippy. You're right. Let me get something to eat."
Vippy nodded happily and led Dante to the dining room. The mansion's grand dining room was a magnificent Gothic-style room that had served the Rosier family for centuries. The long, polished wooden table sparkled in the light of the large crystal chandelier. At the table, Dante's favorite dishes had been carefully prepared: roasted meats, spicy mashed potatoes, fresh bread, and pumpkin juice. Vippy's skill in the kitchen was as evident as ever.
While Dante ate, Vippy continued to clear the table and paced back and forth to the kitchen. But a few minutes later, he came back in, holding a neatly folded newspaper.
"Young Master, this morning's Daily Prophet, important news today!" he said, handing it to Dante.
Dante took it with a slight frown and looked at the big headline on the front page:
"Ministry on Trial! Former Death Eaters' Cases Revisited!"
Dante frowned slightly and started to read.
"The Ministry of Magic has decided to re-examine the cases of some of the accused who were captured as Death Eaters after the end of the Second Wizarding War. In the past, it became clear that there was no conclusive evidence against some wizards who were thought to be guilty. In this regard, it was reported that Lucius Malfoy was acquitted because his guilt was not fully proven, but he will be kept under strict supervision. It was also announced that dark wizards such as Bellatrix Lestrange and her loyal followers will continue to serve their sentences."
Dante looked up from the newspaper and thought. Lucius Malfoy was one of the most famous names to serve Voldemort. However, it was rumored that he had switched sides at the end of the war to ensure the safety of his family. It was not surprising that a fanatical Death Eater like Bellatrix Lestrange remained in Azkaban. But Lucius Malfoy's acquittal was a sign of a change in the Ministry's policy.
"Hmph," Dante muttered. "The Ministry seems to be playing political games again. Exonerating some and punishing others. Do criminals really get a fair trial, or does whoever has more connections get off?"
Vippy looked at Dante with concerned eyes. "Young Master, the Ministry of Magic is a very complicated place. Sometimes the truth is not immediately apparent. The Rosier family used to be associated with dark wizards, but anyone can see that you have chosen a different path."
Dante thought for a moment. The name Rosier carried a powerful meaning in the time of the Dark Lord. His father, Evan Rosier, had been a known Death Eater and had been killed by the Ministry. But Dante had never met his father. Having to live with his legacy had always been a burden.
He looked at the newspaper again. After Lucius Malfoy's name was mentioned, other names were listed in smaller print. Those found not guilty and those still serving time were listed. Looking for more information about his family, he didn't see the name Rosier. For Dante, this was both a relief and an unknown.
He was deep in thought as he finished his meal. The past always got in his way. In the world of magic, the family name was of great importance. But what kind of future would he carry it into?
Dante sighed softly and turned to Vippy. "I will rest today, Vippy. Then I will continue my work."
Vippy nodded and happily began to clear the table. "Of course, young master! Your potions and spells look wonderful! I am sure you will be one of the most powerful wizards in the future!"
Dante returned Vippy's optimism with a slight smile, but the uneasiness inside him had not gone away. His last name, his past and his future... they all mixed together.
As he walked back to his room, he felt the weight of the newspaper in his hand. Lucius Malfoy had been released. Bellatrix Lestrange was in Azkaban.
