Hogwarts' Talent Stealing Wizard

Chapter 5: Chapter 5 Ollivander? Wand!

Chapter 5

In no time the two arrived in front of an ancient, quaint shop, small and dilapidated.

The golden sign above the door had already peeled, on which, it was written Ollivander: Making Fine Wands Since 382 B.C.

Yes, it was this shop! To buy a wand in Diagon Alley, you had to come here.

Ollivander, the best wand-maker in all of Britain, most Hogwarts students' wands came from his hands.

Standing in front of such a famous shop Devero was quite excited and then followed Snape into the shop.

[Secret Realm—Diagon Alley Exploration Progress: 35.1%]

Devero raised an eyebrow as this was the most generous exploration progress he'd gained from any shop in Diagon Alley.

It seemed the information density here was quite high!

Just as he walked in a series of tinkling bell sounds came from somewhere in the back of the shop.

The shop was small as aside from a single bench there was nothing else.

Snape had Devero sit on the bench to wait while he himself stood.

Devero curiously looked around at the long, narrow boxes stacked almost to the ceiling.

If Snape weren't nearby he would've definitely gone to rummage through them.

Suddenly.

A sound of wooden clattering and pulley wheels turning came and an old man with coin-sized eyes appeared before them.

"Good morning, gentlemen." His voice was very soft.

"Mr. Ollivander, hello." Devero stood up from the bench and said.

...

[Name: Garrick Ollivander]

[Age: 61]

[Spell Inventory: ...]

[Traits: Magical Ability (Blue), Natural Wand-maker (Gold)]

...

[Natural Wand-maker (Gold): Born to craft wands, possesses an innate wandmaking lineage, destined to create lifelong companions for countless wizards.]

...

Devero wasn't the least bit surprised that Ollivander had a golden trait, after all, their family had been passing down the craft of wand-making for generations.

In the original story almost every Hogwarts student's wand was made by him.

Truly impressive, that without any hesitation Devero wanted to load both of his traits! But unfortunately he could only copy one blue trait as the golden trait was still on cooldown.

But when Ollivander appeared before Devero, he suddenly had a feeling as if he could sense countless voices, brimming with magical energy, whispering in the room.

"Hmm, a new face, perhaps no one in your family has bought a wand from me?"

Before Devero could listen closely, Ollivander stepped in front of them and those large eyes stared intently at DeVero, not blinking even once.

Making DeVero feel uneasy.

"His name is Devero Alexander, his parents are french, so they haven't bought a wand here."

Snape said in a low, somber tone.

Ollivander looked up and immediately recognized Snape.

"Severus! Severus Snape! The day I sold you your wand feels like it was just yesterday, birch wood, thirteen and a half inches, right?"

"Yes." Snape maintained his gloomy tone as if meeting Ollivander made him uncomfortable.

Of course, Devero reckoned he'd be uncomfortable meeting anyone.

"Hmm, in all of Europe, birch twigs are used to ward off evil spirits, and in ceremonies, birch wands are used to expel ancient ghosts. They also carry a sacred and beautiful quality." Ollivander seemed oblivious to Snape's expression, as he began explaining some facts about birch wood to DeVero.

Snape's face grew even darker.

He turned and pushed the shop door open, walking out; meanwhile Devero stood by the bench, at a loss.

After a lengthy speech, Ollivander finally stopped smiling slightly.

"I've always believed that everyone's qualities are reflected in the wand they choose, oh, of course, the wand chooses the wizard." He turned his gaze to DeVero.

"Alright, Mr. Alexander, which hand do you usually use?" As he spoke, several measuring tapes floated up.

"Right hand." Devero said.

"Good, don't be afraid, just cooperate with them." The measuring tapes quickly measured Devero's entire body, and during the process Ollivander nodded frequently while scribbling something on a small notebook, then he turned and went into the pile of boxes and after rummaging for a bit, he took out a box and pulled out a wand from it, ultimately handing it to DeVero.

"Here, this wand should suit you, oak and dragon heartstring, eleven inches, very sturdy." Devero had a gut feeling.

This wand felt too heavy for him, still he took it and waved it casually. Immediately, a spark shot out directly shattering a chandelier on the ceiling.

Seeing this Devero instantly felt his whole body out of sync as if the right side of his body had become much heavier.

"No, no, no, very powerful, but unbalanced!" Ollivander quickly snatched the wand back.

He took another wand from the pile of boxes, "Try this one, cherry wood and sea serpent nerve, eight and a quarter inches, more flexible."

This time, DeVero hadn't even fully taken it and felt this wand was a bit too light.

Ollivander seemed to think so too, so before DeVero could touch it he took it back.

After trying several wands, he realised none were suitable.

"No, no, how could I think that... such a picky customer."

Muttering to himself, Ollivander went straight to the deepest part of the shop.

"What... thinking he's too exceptional, tsk, maybe only this one will suit you, French...."

As he spoke, he took out an ancient wooden box and from it, he pulled out a wand.

The wood's surface had fine, even grain with a faint purple sheen, the wand's overall shape was smooth and elegant, with a slightly thicker handle for easy gripping.

When Devero saw it, he felt drawn to it even though he'd never studied wand-making.

At that moment, he felt this wand was made for him.

"Rosewood, originally I planned to pair it with unicorn hair, but for some reason, it became a wand on its own, truly peculiar, though it's very picky, I think it might unexpectedly suit you."

Devero took it and instantly, it felt like an extension of his body!

Completely different from the severe dissonance of the previous wands.

Holding this wand, he even felt lighter as if his body had grown stronger.

With a casual wave, the entire shop seemed to tremble slightly.

An idea suddenly struck Devero.

"Reparo!" Devero cast the first spell of his life at the glass shards on the floor.

Immediately, the glass fragments scattered across the shop flew into the air, quickly piecing together, restoring the chandelier that had hung from the ceiling.

This astonishing scene stunned Ollivander, even a few passersby outside the shop stopped to watch after all, a child who looked barely eleven could cast such a perfect cleaning charm so smoothly.

It was truly eye-opening!

"Oh, Merlin's beard! What did I see! This wand will only acknowledge a master with exceptional talent, and in multiple fields at that, for it to be willing to serve. It seems, Mr. Alexander, your future has been recognized by the wand."

After the initial shock Ollivander calmly said to Devero.

Devero was also very shocked. To be honest, this wand had good taste.

Devero was now a magical prodigy and a potion genius, a double-threat future star of the wizarding world, it was only natural it matched this wand.

But DeVero's face was still full of uncontainable excitement after all, this was his first time using this spell.

And his system panel showed he was only at the beginner level with this spell.

Could it be this wand gave him an extra boost.

Increasing his spell-casting success rate?

Thinking of this, he couldn't wait to open a spell textbook.

And try every spell.

But he restrained himself; now wasn't the time.

"Sorry, Mr. Ollivander, I might've messed up your shop. How much... is this wand?"

Suppressing his excitement, Devero realized Snape was no longer standing outside.

How was he supposed to pay? No way, having just found the perfect wand, would he have to sheepishly run out to find Snape to pay?

Devero thought that would be too embarrassing.

Just as he was at a loss, Ollivander smiled and said. "It's fine, Mr. Alexander. Professor Snape already paid earlier. I saw him head to the left; you can find him there."
