Hogwarts: Novel Era of the Wizarding World

Chapter 11: Weight Of The Destiny

Adam's morning began with the familiar sensation of his mother's gentle kiss on his forehead, nudging him awake. He blinked a few times, adjusting to the light filtering into the room. With just a good morning coming out of his mouth, he made his way to the bathroom, his thoughts already drifting back to the whirlwind of events from the day before.

As he washed his face, Adam started organizing his thoughts, trying to piece together everything that had happened during his first visit to Diagon Alley. Gringotts, with its towering white walls and intimidating goblins, had been a place straight out of his dreams. The magical shops that lined the streets were like nothing he had ever imagined, filled with objects of wonder and mystery. But what had truly fascinated him were the endless rows of books at Flourish and Blotts. Magical texts, glowing softly, brimming with the knowledge he had always longed to possess. He couldn't wait to dive into them.

Adam knew that he had to go back to Diagon Alley soon. He had already received address to Leaky Cauldron from professor Flitwick and it was only at a half an hour distance so he decided to head back there soon.

Then, his thoughts turned to the wand resting safely in its original red box, he had received it from Ollivander, while Hermione received another normal looking box as both wands were stored in this red box which had two compartments for two wands. He had carefully stored it in the cupboard last night, knowing it wasn't just any wand.

From the moment it had chosen him, Adam had sensed its extraordinary nature. His experiences from his past life, where fantasies were merely stories, made him realize that his journey into the magical world was bound to shift his reality in profound ways. He could feel it in his bones—everything was going to change soon.

Adam's mind then shifted to the strangest moment of all—the dark space he and Hermione had appeared in. He vividly recalled the deep, unexplainable bond he had felt with her in that world. It had been bizarre and unnerving, yet, for some reason, he hadn't resisted. Instead, he had accepted it, letting it settle within him without worry. Something about that connection had felt... right.

And then, there was the red flashing light. It had appeared just before they were pulled back to the real world. Adam's instincts told him it was important, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't quite grasp why it mattered. He felt it linger in the back of his mind like a puzzle waiting to be solved. Despite the nagging feeling, he found it impossible to focus on what the red light meant.

With a sigh, Adam finished washing up, his mind still turning over these thoughts. Before heading downstairs to have breakfast with his parents, he paused for a moment. Something urged him to check his status window. Opening it, he quickly reviewed his progress.

Satisfied with the task that was completed, Adam felt a sense of anticipation for what lay ahead. With that, he decided to close the status window and head downstairs, ready to enjoy the day with his parents. But just then, before he closed the status window, he noticed a change that he had skipped just now.

The level that used to be level 4 has now advanced to 5. He hadn't noticed right away because he hadn't entered the secret space to fight any monsters since the last time he checked the status window. But still, his level was now 5. And he also noticed that magic status that used to always show active (basic) has now changed into beginner.

Then suddenly Adam thought about the golden light emitted by his and Hermione's wand, he realized that those lights were the only thing that could've made this advancement in him since nothing else had happened to him in these few days.

This was such a pleasant surprise, Adam couldn't help but smile looking at this change. He happily closed his status window and took out his wand from the red box that he stored in the cupboard before heading downstairs for the breakfast.

After breakfast, Adam sat back in his chair, his mind wandering over the past few days. He had been swept up in the excitement of discovering magic (wizard magic), visiting Diagon Alley, and the anticipation of attending Hogwarts. But as he reflected on his behavior, he realized something—it had all been a little too enthusiastic, almost like he had been playing a part.

Since being born into this world, Adam had never felt that he was some kind of protagonist or a part of some hero team fighting a demon lord. He always thought that he would be living a normal life with some magical twists in it.

This was until Adam awakened his system on 11th birthday, Adam had known something was bound to change, but the system's initial silence had dulled his excitement, leaving him uncertain about his future. But now with appearance of Hogwarts and his admission, then the weird wands, along with his system made him realize that something big was going to happen in the future, with him at the center. He wanted safe and peaceful life but he now knew that there was more to his existence, more than just being another excited first-year Hogwarts student.

His experiences in his past life—where magic had been nothing but fantasy—made him feel like an outsider here, but now, everything was real. He didn't believe in destiny or predetermined paths, but things were starting to get strange. The bond with Hermione, the flashing red light in the dark world, and the sudden level-ups—it all pointed to something larger at play.

Adam took a deep breath and calmed the rush of excitement that had been guiding him. This wasn't just about attending Hogwarts anymore. It wasn't just about learning spells and potions. He had to take this seriously—he was now part of a world that carried weight, with mysteries that needed unraveling. His role here was more than that of a mere student.

With renewed focus, Adam resolved to deepen his understanding of magic, to learn everything he could about the wizarding world beyond the surface. There was something bigger at work, and if he wanted to be ready for it, he needed to approach things with more purpose. He decided that he really needed to make a plan for the future.

Over the next few days, Adam immersed himself in the books he had bought from Diagon Alley, determined to learn as much as he could before starting at Hogwarts. He read through volume after volume, absorbing what information he could, but to his disappointment, much of it seemed inconsequential.

There were spells, potions, and magical creatures to learn about, but none of it felt particularly groundbreaking. Still, Adam pushed through, knowing that every bit of knowledge would eventually help him navigate this world.

One thing that did catch his attention, however, was the mention of The Dark Lord- Voldemort. The books were vague, as not a single soul dared to even write his name, but Adam still learned that Voldemort had been repelled by Lily and James Potter's sacrifice, leaving Harry orphaned. Adam noted how this part of the story hadn't changed much from what he remembered from his past life. Despite the differences in the background of this world, the narrative of Voldemort and Harry seemed to be following a familiar path.

More intriguing to Adam was the mysterious event that Professors McGonagall and Flitwick had mentioned—the one that had caused muggles to wield magic and bestowed special abilities upon certain wizards. It was a significant moment in this world's history, but like everything else, details were scarce. But still Adam found some bits and pieces from the books, and what surprised him was that the mysterious event that took place was related to Hogwarts, which managed to affect entire world.

Adam's research revealed that the event occurred around 70 years ago, when a massive surge of white light, rich with magic, had erupted from Hogwarts and shot into the sky. It lasted for quite a few minutes, before subsiding. The aftermath of this event led to random wizards gaining unique abilities and even muggles discovering magical powers.

Dark wizards and some mysterious wizard families, sensing an opportunity, had tried to invade Hogwarts at the time, hoping to harness the mysterious energy for themselves. But they were repelled by the school's teachers and headmaster, preventing them from uncovering whatever secrets lay behind the event.

After the battle, under the leadership of the Headmaster of Hogwarts, at the time, Armando Dippet, prominent wizarding families had visited Hogwarts in the wake of this incident, but no one ever revealed what was discussed within its walls.

This left Adam both frustrated and curious. The event was clearly pivotal in the storyline, but there was so little to go on. It seemed as if the wizarding world had deliberately kept it shrouded in mystery, and that only made Adam more determined to find out what had really happened.

Along with his research, Adam also continued his daily magic training. Adam didn't know what had changed within him since the level went up to 5 and magic status went to beginner from active (basic). But just in few moments after starting his practise, Adam understood the difference. It was not just the strength of the fire he created, but rather the process of making this fire and control had improved.

Adam understood that the magic status change had directly changed the way his body was handling the magic, making it smoother and easier to control and learn.

Adam wished to practise with his wand but he didn't know if he should he using magic like that in the muggle area. He knew that this world was different with so much magic everywhere, there might not be that good of a detection about underage magic but he didn't want to take the risk. He didn't know if it was only effective after going to Hogwarts or even before that, since they could still mysteriously invite muggle wizards without even the person involved knowing that they were wizards. Adam didn't have a solid understanding about how they caught on to children having magical accidents.

After thinking about it, Adam decided to find a place in Diagon Alley or Leaky Cauldron to practise magic or maybe just find a secret space to practise in. Though secret space being the last option, as it was still a dangerous thing if he didn't stay vigilant.

During these days, Adam and Hermione stayed in touch through the home telephone, often discussing what they had learned from their books. They even visited each other's homes once, further strengthening their budding friendship. Most of the time, it was Hermione doing the talking, enthusiastically sharing her newfound knowledge about Hogwarts' history, while Adam listened, soaking in whatever useful information she had to offer. He found himself appreciating her passion and intellect, though his own focus remained on the more obscure aspects of the magical world.

The two quickly became good friends, bonding over their mutual excitement and curiosity about Hogwarts. Before long, they made plans to visit Diagon Alley again, eager to explore more of the magical world before their journey to Hogwarts truly began.
