Ch. 57
Chapter 57: Tyrannical and Unruly, the Double No Combination
Top floor of the Divine Sakura Bio building.
It was a luxurious office, primarily decorated in Eastern Island style, with all kinds of facilities complete, including a dedicated rest room and cultivation room.
On the wall behind the desk hung a massive ukiyo-e painting of the Night Parade of One Hundred Demons. The vivid color contrast made it look both eerie and somewhat aesthetically pleasing.
In front of the desk were dozens of figures dressed as samurai or in Shinto priest attire, respectfully kneeling on the floor with their eyes closed in silent meditation.
Behind the desk, the office chair faced away from the crowd. Heavy breathing came from beside it.
"Huff... huff..."
Accompanied by low, panting breaths, two girls dressed in red and white shrine maiden garments kneeled on the ground.
They lifted their heads with flattering eyes, revealing the collars around their necks. The ends of the chains were held in the hand of the figure sitting in the chair.
Only, the chains were tightening, leaving marks on their fair necks.
With fear in their eyes, they pleaded softly, "Master..."
"A dog shouldn't speak human words."
The chair suddenly spun, yanking the chains and directly dragging the two girls to the ground.
A pair of fair, jade-like feet stepped on their heads, pressing them down with slight force. They couldn’t lift their heads and could only let out painful whimpers.
On the chair sat a girl dressed in a delicate black kimono.
Her black princess-cut long hair draped over her shoulders, accentuating her refined face. A beauty mark at the corner of her right eye made her resemble a poisonous yet enchanting flower.
She held the dog chains in her hand, looking down as she spoke:
"Such a letdown. You people of the Tianxia Alliance have clearly come to be dogs, yet still cling to that last bit of dignity in your hearts. Even wearing shrine maiden outfits can’t wash away the stench of stupidity on you."
With that, she kicked the two girls aside.
The latter hurriedly tried to explain:
"Master, we..."
"Scram."
The girl said calmly. Behind her, several faint white demon masks emerged, causing the two girls to shudder in fear. They didn’t dare say another word and scrambled out on all fours.
As the door opened, a man wearing a traditional Japanese haori walked in. He had short hair and a beard.
His eyes glanced at the girls fleeing in panic. He sniffed the air filled with expensive perfume and smirked playfully:
"Seki-hime, my beautiful little sister, looks like you haven’t found any satisfying pets here either."
Before he could finish his sentence, a white Hannya mask appeared and slammed into him, sending him flying and crashing into the wall before collapsing to the ground.
From the office chair came an indifferent voice: "Kurokawa Ryuuji, this is your final warning. Do not call my name directly. You must use an honorific.
You're nothing but a bastard child who happened to awaken the History Walker talent and got brought back by Father. If you can’t figure out your place, I don’t mind crushing you."
Kurokawa Ryuuji climbed up from the floor, his eyes filled with resentment, but in the instant he looked up, his expression shifted to one of flattery as he respectfully said:
"Understood, Lady Seki."
It wasn’t just because of her beauty, but because she was the daughter of the head of the Kurokawa family, a powerful Ancient Talisman level expert.
Just like her name implied, she was a princess admired by all.
If he showed even a hint of disrespect, the family retainers would cut him down immediately.
He had struggled greatly to move from being an illegitimate child to obtaining the surname of the Fujiwara branch—Kurokawa—and securing the family’s support, climbing step by step.
He had to endure, only then could he achieve his ambition of overturning the hierarchy.
When he returned, he would vent his anger on those Tianxia women they had captured. He just happened to want a new batch anyway.
Kurokawa Seki could feel the resentment and ambition radiating from him and sneered disdainfully.
Controlling people and training pets were no different. Both required intimidation and temptation.
Only trash lacked ambition.
If she got bitten back, it meant she was trash too.
It was just a pity that, despite being in the Tianxia Alliance for so long, she still hadn’t found a high-quality pet.
Thinking of this, she suddenly asked, "What task has Father assigned you recently? He even granted you access to the underground laboratory."
"Father told me I must never speak of it..." Kurokawa Ryuuji hesitated, his face filled with unease.
"You think you can catch those children without my informants noticing?"
Kurokawa Seki interrupted coldly, "Tell me, are you performing a sacrifice? Or conducting some experiment? Where are those children now?
Don't think that capturing people in batches can fool the Bureau of Historical Revision. If they target us, the family's decades of effort in the Tianxia Alliance will be reduced to ashes."
Kurokawa Ryuuji gritted his teeth. "I really can't say."
Facing Seki's increasingly dangerous gaze, he walked to the floor-to-ceiling window.
Looking out over the bustling city of Hangzhou, his eyes grew obsessed. He spread his arms wide as if to embrace the entire world and shouted:
"Lady Seki... I can only tell you that once we succeed, the Kurokawa family will reap immense rewards. At that time, we will at least resolve half of White Sakura Island Country’s historical mutations, shift the burden to the Tianxia Alliance, and perhaps even become the rulers of this fertile land."
Back then, White Sakura Island Country took advantage of the historical chaos to launch a surprise attack on the weakened Tianxia interior, plundering many resources and establishing its current extraordinary foundation.
Tianxia is the cradle of many surrounding civilizations.
Even its history is tightly interwoven.
Countless fear It, yet countless more yearn to become It!
More importantly, this was the only chance to gain Father’s attention.
If this mission was done well, he could overturn his status in one leap, gain more support and resources, even make Seki look at him differently, and have her beneath him.
After all...
To maintain bloodline purity, intermarriage within the family was not uncommon.
"Idiot!"
Kurokawa Seki scolded with a frown. She hated when things went beyond her control.
But this was Father’s order—one she could not disobey.
This political beast that had coiled around the family for years was growing more deranged at the end of his lifespan. Using fame and profit as bait, he forced all his children to serve him desperately.
Underneath the fertile land of Hangzhou, a tremendous secret lay buried.
But due to her cautious nature, she had committed no errors in recent years, but also made little progress.
Father had run out of patience and sent in a catfish to stir the waters.
If she didn’t urgently produce results, power might be stolen by the stray dog she once disdained.
‘Father, you truly are sinister.’
Kurokawa Seki’s gaze turned icy. Just as she was about to speak, urgent knocking came from the door.
"Come in!"
"Lady Seki, something terrible has happened. The entire Divine Sakura Bio building has been sealed off by the military." The informant looked tense.
"What!?"
Everyone in the office was shocked.
Kurokawa Seki took out a remote. A massive screen descended, displaying the current situation on each floor of the Divine Sakura Bio building.
All entrances and exits were guarded by soldiers. All staff were ordered to squat with hands on their heads. No one was allowed in or out.
Panic spread rapidly.
Fear began to ripple through the crowd.
Seeing this, Kurokawa Ryuuji roared, "How dare they?"
"The Bureau of Historical Revision is conducting operations—do they need the opinion of a suspect like you?"
A calm voice rang out. Jiang Yan and Zhao Yinman walked in, ignoring all resistance.
‘Damn it, that idiot’s actions have been exposed!’
Kurokawa Seki’s brows furrowed as she looked at the aggressive duo.
Although Kurokawa Ryuuji was a fool, he was still part of the family and carrying out Father's orders. He could not be handed over. She had no choice but to clean up the mess herself.
"Everything must be based on evidence."
Kurokawa Seki remained composed and smiled sweetly:
"Do you have an investigation warrant and lockdown order?"
Jiang Yan replied calmly, "Have you heard of the Bureau of Historical Revision’s 'Double No Combination'?"
Kurokawa Seki searched her memory carefully but found nothing. She asked doubtfully:
"What does that mean?"
Could it be some secret unit?
Jiang Yan pointed to Zhao Yinman beside him and said:
"She has no humanity."
Zhao Yinman nodded cooperatively.
"And I..."
"Don't listen to dogs barking."
