His Stolen Love

Chapter 11: 11

Damon POV

I was so ready to blow this popsicle stand when Carol finally announced that Opal had won me, so when Opal said her goodbyes to Bonnie who smiled back and said, "Goodnight Opal, Damon. Opal are we still meeting tomorrow to go over your grimoires?" Opal smiled and said, "Sure, come by tomorrow about 1 pm and bring Sheila, I have a spell I need your help with." Bonnie lit up at the idea of doing magic and nodded.

We made it to the car when Elena stormed over and slapped me, luckily for her Opal held me back long enough for Stephanie to stand in front of her shielding her from my immediate anger. She however missed the tension in the air as she ripped into me about killing mommy dearest. I let my face go apathetic before I said, "What does that have to do with you? I met her before I even knew you existed, I feed on people not bunnies Elena, I'm a vampire not a poodle. Get over it! So I snacked on your birth mother, who abandoned you by the way. I had no idea who she was I only knew she asked to be my snack." She looked like I smacked her but I pushed on, "Yea, mommy dearest asked to be turned to which I obliged." I shrugged but said, "What can I say she was entertaining and wanted away from her husband something fierce so I gave her what she asked for. Now leave me and my wife alone before I lose what little control I still have and snap your neck for slapping me."

I pulled Opal to her side of the car and helped her in more to calm my nerves than an actual need to help her at this point. We made it home fairly quickly and with little fanfare after our little spat in the parking lot of the Grill. Opal went up to our room for a shower while I sat in the parlor with a drink thinking over todays revelations when I heard him. His heartbeat was erratic and he was sweating the salty taste in the air left little doubt about how nervous he was with being in my house.

I took a sip of my drink before I said, "Are you really this stupid?" I turned to look at him as he stood silent with a steak in his hand. I took another sip of my drink and said, "Guess so." before I rushed him effectively flinging him into the wall across the room. "You gonna put down the stake yet?" I asked as he crouched as if to pounce at me stake still in hand he asked, "Where is Isabelle? What have you done to my wife?" I looked at him with pity because I know what it's like to lose your wife to a vampire so I sighed and said, "Do you want me to tell you I killed her, would that make you happy? Because I think you know what happened." He moved slightly as I walked closer and said, "I saw you feeding on her."

This guy was slower than I initially thought, I sighed and said, "Yea I did and I'm not gonna lie she was delicious." I didn't get to finish my epic speech before he lunged at me again so I pushed him again causing him to crash into the chair across from me before I said, "Oh come on what do you think happened? Any ideas at all, not even an inkling... I turned her." He looked up at me from the floor and said, "Why?" I chuckled and said, "She came to me, she was all pathetic and broken, she begged me to do it. I liked her determination." He was quiet for a second and said, "You turned her because you liked her."

I smiled and said, "Something like that, I was also a little board and had my emotions off at the time. I won't apologize for what I did, but the theatrics of feeding from her in front of you then disappearing with her in my arms, I might be inclined to admit that probably wasn't one of my best moments or so my wife tells me." He looked at me like he wanted to deny what I said so I continued, "But you knew she wasn't happy didn't you? You knew she wasn't happy at home, happy with you?" I barely finished speaking when Opal walked in and in his aggravated state he ran for her while saying, "Wife for wife." I rushed between them and impaled him with his own stake. I held his body up as I pulled the stake out and said, "Well this is a shame, were alike you and I, burned by a vindictive women who only thinks about herself. Oh well, it sounds like I hit a lung which means now I get to sit here and watch you die. Well at least you know not to touch my wife now." I smiled viciously at him as he gasped for air as his lung collapsed.

I walked over to Opal and held her close as he flailed on the floor drowning in his own blood from the inside out. She shuddered as the last vestiges of life drained from his eyes. I pulled her into me as I rubbed her back calming her. She looked me in the eyes and said, "Thank you for saving me my love." I caressed her cheek and said, "No thanks needed, I promised I would protect you and our babies and I intend to keep my promise this time around. Maybe we should ask Sheila if she can help us with a protective spell that keeps anyone that wishes us harm from being able to enter the house so this sort of thing doesn't happen again." She nodded into my chest as her arms tightened around my waist.

I kissed the top of her head and ushered her off to bed so that I could clean up the mess the teach was leaving on my floors. She was quick to comply with my suggestion and rushed out of the room.

I sat there in the silence listening to the fire pop as his eyes stared back at me when Stephan rushed in after seeing his body and said, "What happened? What did you do?" I was getting fed up with my brother but said, "What do you mean, what did I do? He attacked me, he went after Opal I just defended my wife, your sister-in-law" He sighed and said, "Damon" in exasperation. I stopped him and said, "All I did was tell him the truth. His wife didn't want him anymore, it's not my fault he couldn't handle it." He looked at me before he said, "Like you've been handling Katherine?" I couldn't handle it I laughed in his face before I said, "The only thing I want to do with Katherine is rip her heart out and feed it to pigs while dancing gleefully on her tomb. You don't know half of what she did to me or Opal all those years ago Stephan so stop acting like you have me all figured out, because you don't." I pointed to teaches body and said, "Clean this up will ya, I have a wife to comfort due to his inability to reign in his emotions."

Stephan POV

As I sat there looking over Alaric's body I began to question all that I know about Damon and our past. I have no idea who my brother is anymore. What I thought I knew is now being thrown into disarray all due to the arrival of my brothers long lost wife and his new found humanity. It was after a few minutes of just sitting there that Alaric's fingers started to move and he jumped up with a gasp from his previously dead state. *Cough* *Cough* "What happened?" He said with a start I helped him to sit up as he gripped his chest where he had been impaled. Thinking he might have been turned I asked, "Did Damon turn you?" He rubbed his chest and said, "No, no I went after his wife and he stabbed me." Confused I looked at him and said, "No you must have had vampire blood in your system." He shook his head again and said, "No it's....it's something else." He held up his hand with a ring on it and said, "Isabelle.... It's what protected me." I looked at him and said, "That's impossible." His response was a simple, "I know" and then he left out the front door.
