Chapter 246: There's No Need To Be Polite
Chapter 246 - There's No Need To Be Polite
Leaving the small alley, Lili led Mahiro to the residence of the Soma Familia.
She walked ahead, her head bowed as she guided the way.
Although her status in the Soma Familia had never been high, she had at least enjoyed some degree of freedom.
Moreover, as long as she saved enough money to pay the fee for leaving the Familia, she could leave whenever she wanted.
Lili had been working hard toward that goal, and it had been within reach.
But now, her freedom had been stripped away.
The thought filled her with frustration.
"Lili, I remember you have a transformation magic, right?" Mahiro asked casually as he followed behind her.
"How do you know that?!" Lili froze mid-step, turning around abruptly to face Mahiro.
Her pupils shrank, and her face was a mix of shock and panic.
Even when Mahiro had declared her his property, she hadn't felt this level of fear.
"You don't need to worry about that," Mahiro said, waving his hand dismissively.
Lili's heart sank.
She had been clinging to a sliver of hope—that she could find a skilled elven mage to remove the tracking spell Mahiro had placed on her and then use Cinder Ella to escape.
But now, hearing Mahiro mention her magic, that hope shattered.
She felt utterly exposed, as if all her secrets had been laid bare.
The magic granted by the Falna was supposed to be a secret.
Only her god and she herself should have known about it.
Lili was certain she had never revealed it to anyone.
After all, it was her lifeline, her trump card for survival.
If it were exposed, her chances of escaping would be reduced to zero.
And now, Mahiro knew.
She felt a chilling despair.
"Yes, I have a transformation magic," Lili admitted, her voice resigned.
"What does it do? Can you transform into anything?" Mahiro asked, curious.
Lili blinked, confused. "Don't you already know, Mahiro-sama?"
"Only vaguely," Mahiro replied.
"I'd like to hear the details."
Lili hesitated for a few seconds before sighing and answering truthfully.
"The actual name is Cinder Ella, it allows me to transform based on imagination. The clearer the image in my mind, the better the transformation."
"Usually, I base it on other people's appearances, which makes it easier."
'So, it's basically cosplay magic?' Mahiro thought, amused.
The possibilities were endless—and entertaining.
"Make sure to practice this magic well," Mahiro said, patting Lili's shoulder with genuine encouragement.
"??" Lili was bewildered by Mahiro's sudden change in attitude.
One moment he was cold and ruthless, and the next, he was encouraging her.
Did he see value in her magic?
Was that why he had claimed her as his property?
But what did he plan to do with it?
Lili had mostly used Cinder Ella for deception, but Mahiro didn't seem like the type to need such tricks.
She was lost in thought.

Before long, the two arrived at the Soma Familia's residence.
Located in a part of North Street, the building resembled a tower and was relatively spacious.
However, compared to the grandeur of the Twilight Manor, it was modest at best.
"Mahiro-sama, this is it," Lili said, gesturing toward the gate.
"It looks... lax," Mahiro observed. "No guards?"
"That's just how this Familia is. If it doesn't directly involve making money, they don't care much," Lili said with a self-deprecating laugh.
"Guarding the gate is a thankless job, so no one bothers. Besides, the Soma Familia... outsiders rarely come here."
The Soma Familia's reputation was terrible.
While not universally hated, adventurers generally avoided them.
Even if a Soma Familia member was stronger, most adventurers would choose someone from a different Familia instead.
It was a testament to how poorly regarded they were.
"The captain should be inside. Let me take you in," Lili said, stepping forward to open the gate.
"Lili, step aside."
"Mahiro-sama, aren't we going in?" Lili asked, confused.
"Let's make one thing clear. We're not here for a friendly visit. We're here to settle things. So—" Mahiro raised his hand, and a magic circle about one meter in diameter appeared in front of him.
"—there's no need to be polite."
A massive fireball began to form at the center of the magic circle, its fiery glow casting a red light over the surroundings.
Seeing this, Lili didn't hesitate.
She turned and ran.
