Chapter 1: CH 1
For as long as he could remember, he had always been floating in the void without any meaning.
He didn't know who he was or how long he had been drifting aimlessly in the endless void without a goal.
For all he knew, there was only one thing he desired.
"I want to live."
Alas, his wish was never granted, no matter how many times he hoped for it. He waited and waited, but nothing came. Nothing happened.
He was only a soul—transparent and shaped like an eighteen-year-old boy—drifting through the void until a strange pink hole appeared before him.
Without any resistance, his soul was dragged into the hole. Suddenly, he found himself inside what seemed like a room. For the first time ever, he could move and see something other than darkness.
The soul looked around, trying to take in his surroundings. His gaze fell upon an object that stood out—a familiar object from his limited knowledge.
"A bed?" he thought.
Upon closer inspection, he noticed a being lying atop the bed—a girl with long, light-purple hair. Most notably, she was naked.
As his gaze fell upon her, the girl stirred awake. She groggily rubbed her eyes and, upon seeing the soul, her expression shifted to one of curiosity. Then, she smiled and clapped her hands.
"Are you perhaps a stranded soul?" she asked, her voice sweet and seductive. "Come here, little soul. It's been so long since I've met one like you."
The soul remained still, confused. He didn't know what to do—heck, he didn't even know how to move.
"Ah, right. Let me help you." The girl waved her hand, and at that moment, his body—his soul—began to float.
Slowly, he drifted toward the bed, stopping just in front of her.
"Hmm… Your soul is pure. Perhaps the purest I've ever seen," the girl mused, a smirk playing on her lips. "Would you be interested in becoming my agent, little soul?"
The soul tilted its head, not understanding her words. Or perhaps he did. He wanted to ask something, but in his current state, he had no mouth to speak.
"Just… who is she?"
"My, you can finally respond," the girl giggled, seemingly hearing his thoughts. "You may call me Lady Selene. I suppose you could think of me as a god searching for an apostle."
A god? he thought, surprised. Realizing that Lady Selene could hear his thoughts, he immediately asked, "Can you revive me? Bring me back to life?"
"Indeed, my dear soul," Lady Selene replied with a smile. "But only if you agree to become my agent."
Hearing her answer filled the soul with joy and excitement. His long-held wish could finally be fulfilled.
"Agent? What do I have to do? I'll do anything to live again!"
"It's simple," Lady Selene replied, waving her hand. A book appeared in her grasp, its cover emblazoned with the words Milking System. "All you need to do is live and drink some milk. Doing so will help me indirectly, and it would make me very happy."
Without further explanation, Lady Selene pushed the book into the soul's transparent body.
"That's it?" the soul asked.
The condition seemed almost too good to be true, so simple that he thought she might be joking. But Lady Selene was serious. She nodded and smiled.
"Yes. Just one request—when your life comes to an end someday, I'd like you to tell me your story. I enjoy hearing the tales of my agents."
"Then… I'll gladly accept. Please, bring me back to life. I want to live."
"Good!" Lady Selene clapped her hands in delight. "Though, I should warn you—the world you're about to be reborn into is dangerous. There are threats beyond what the eye can see. To help you survive, I'll grant you a special power. Whenever you drink someone's milk, you'll gain a portion of their strength. Just remember to read and follow the system's instructions carefully."
"Thank you. I don't need anything else—I just want to live. I've been drifting in darkness for as long as I can remember."
"You're such a kind child," Lady Selene said softly. Then, her tone grew serious. "But let me give you one piece of advice."
"What is it?" the soul asked, confused by her sudden change in demeanor.
"Never hesitate to do the unthinkable. Don't hesitate to kill your enemies—or you'll be the one who dies. You know better than anyone that death is… boring. So drink plenty of milk, my child!" she added with a sweet smile.
"I'll keep that in mind," the soul promised.
As soon as he answered, he realized he now had a physical body. He was a handsome young boy with black hair. Smiling, he looked at Lady Selene, who returned his smile with warmth.
"Do your best, my child."
"I will."
Lady Selene waved her hand once more, opening a white portal beside the boy. Without hesitation, the boy allowed the portal to suck him in, trusting Lady Selene's promise that he would be reborn.
Darkness enveloped him once more.
Then, he was reborn.
"Congratulations, Hyoudou-san! The twins have been born safely!" a nurse in uniform exclaimed, holding the newborns alongside her colleague.
"Dear! Congratulations! I'm so happy!" A brown-haired man wearing glasses leaned toward the woman on the bed.
"Thank you… Have you decided on their names, dear?" the woman asked with a tired yet joyful smile.
"I have," the man replied, looking tenderly at his newborn sons. "I'll name the younger one Issei, and the older one… Jin."
"Issei and Jin," the woman repeated softly, gazing lovingly at her babies. "What wonderful names… My children—Hyoudou Jin and Hyoudou Issei."
