Chapter 28: Chapter 27 - The Battle Continues
Gremory Estate, Underworld –
POV: Sirzechs Lucifer –
Sirzechs Lucifer observed the Rating Game through a vast scrying projection, his crimson eyes fixed on the unfolding battle. The grand hall of the Gremory estate was silent except for small chatter, various noble devils gathered around to spectate the match between Rias and Riser Phenex, including the Lord and Lady Gremory.
Standing at Sirzechs' side, Grayfia maintained a composed expression, though he could sense her subtle interest.
He smiled slightly as his sister's Pawn, Issei Hyoudou, continued to push beyond his limits, his Boosted Gear's emerald glow illuminating the battlefield.
"So, this is the human Rias used all her Pawn pieces on," Sirzechs mused. "I had my doubts at first, but I must say, her instincts were correct."
Grayfia nodded. "He is reckless, but he is growing at a remarkable pace. If he continues developing like this, he could become an asset for Rias in the future."
Sirzechs chuckled. "Or an asset for the entire Underworld."
His gaze shifted, moving from Issei's battlefield to another.
Where Shiori Oreki was locked in a fierce battle against Yubelluna.
He rested his chin on his hand, his expression thoughtful.
"The Oreki siblings… A recent phenomenon, yet one that has altered the entire power balance."
Grayfia's silver eyes followed his gaze. "Yes. The moment they appeared, Kokabiel accelerated his plans. Azazel is now keeping a closer watch on events in Kuoh than ever before. The Church has also taken notice."
Sirzechs exhaled slowly. Things were changing too fast.
And Shiori Oreki—while not carrying the absurd power of her brother—was proving to be a frightening variable.
"She's strong," he admitted. "Stronger than I initially expected. She could become one of the deadliest warriors of our generation."
His fingers lightly tapped the side of his throne as he studied her movements.
Shiori couldn't fly like her opponent, yet she was adapting flawlessly.
Sirzechs' smile widened.
"Let's see just how far she can go."

POV: Shiori Oreki –
The air rushed past my ears as I crashed through the walls of the main school building, debris exploding around me. My armor absorbed the brunt of the impact, but pain still flared in my ribs. I twisted midair, flipping to regain control before I landed hard on the dirt outside the building.
Damn it.
Yubelluna hovered above me, her smug laughter ringing through the air as she held a glowing sphere of magic in her hand. The unstable energy within the orb crackled, distorting the air around it.
"You can't win, little human," she taunted, her voice dripping with arrogance. "You can't fly. You're nothing more than a grounded insect—and I? I am the Queen of the Immortal Phoenix!"
I wiped the blood from my lip, my grip tightening around Clarent. The sword thrummed in my hand, responding to my frustration. The red lightning that coiled around my body intensified, crackling wildly in anticipation of battle.
Yubelluna's eyes gleamed as she hurled the explosive sphere downward.
I kicked off the ground, my speed shattering the earth beneath me as I rocketed upward, dodging the blast by inches. The explosion erupted behind me, a pillar of fire and smoke tearing apart the battlefield.
I used the momentum from my jump to flip in midair, raising my left hand as red lightning surged around my fingertips.
With a snap of my fingers, I unleashed a bolt of crimson electricity straight at her.
Yubelluna twisted midair, trying to evade—
But she wasn't fast enough.
The bolt grazed her shoulder, searing through her robes and sending her spinning backward with a cry of pain.
I landed atop the school's rooftop, crouching low as I assessed her movements.
Yubelluna gritted her teeth, her violet eyes burning with irritation. "Annoying little pest," she spat. "You think a few lucky hits will change the outcome?"
She raised her hands, forming another volley of explosive orbs—but this time, dozens of them hovered around her, each one pulsing with deadly energy.
"Let's see how long you can last before you're nothing but ashes!"
With a flick of her wrist, she sent the orbs raining down like meteors.
I bolted forward, moving too fast for the eye to follow.
Jumping between the rooftops in a blur of speed, I dodged one explosion after another, the shockwaves nearly knocking me off balance. The heat from the blasts scorched the air, the force strong enough to leave craters in the building.
Too slow.
I clenched my fist, red lightning arcing across my body before I pushed off the school's highest tower, propelling myself straight at her.
Yubelluna's eyes widened in shock as I closed the distance in an instant.
Clarent flashed, its holy edge slicing through the air.
She barely raised a barrier in time-my sword slammed into the magical defense, shattering it in an instant.
Her eyes widened in horror.
Before she could react, I twisted my body further, slicing right into her.
She was sent hurtling backward, crashing through the upper branches of a tree before she slammed into the ground below.
She coughed violently, struggling to rise, her form shaking from the sheer impact as the effect of the holy sword poisoned her. I had kept the holy power suppressed so I didn't kill anyone but she could take it.
I raised my free hand, red lightning dancing at my fingertips, preparing the final blow—
Then the announcement rang out.
"Rias Gremory's Knight has been retired."
I froze.
My head snapped to the side, my heart pounding in my chest.
Across the battlefield, I saw it—a massive beam of green energy piercing the sky.
Issei.
His Boosted Gear's glow illuminated the battlefield, its energy crackling through the air like a living force of nature.
Kiba was gone.
And Issei was going all out. I clenched my teeth. No distractions. I turned back to Yubelluna—
Only to see her hand glowing.
The Phenex Tear.
I cursed under my breath.
Her injuries disappeared in an instant. The pain that had slowed her, the wounds that had made her falter—all gone.
Yubelluna grinned, her power surging once more.
"Foolish girl. Did you think I wouldn't come prepared?"
The air around her warped, heat distorting the space as her magic intensified.
Her wings flared wide as she lifted her arms. Magic circles formed in the sky, each one charged with power far greater than before.
"I won't just win," she declared, her voice echoing with raw power. "I'll burn you out of existence!"
A storm of flaming orbs erupted from her position, blotting out the sky.
Not this time.
I didn't run.
I didn't dodge.
I stepped forward—
And unleashed everything.
Red lightning exploded outward, a wave of power surging from my body, crackling through the air like a raging storm.
Yubelluna's eyes widened in realization—too late.
I raised Clarent, the sword glowing brighter than ever before as I finally let the Divine radiance from its blade be released.
With a single slash, a massive arc of holy lightning surged forth, carving through the battlefield and engulfing every orb in its path.
The explosive orbs detonated midair, their energy swallowed by my lightning.
Yubelluna screamed as the lightning tendril slammed into her, sending her tumbling through the sky.
I didn't let up.
I leaped after her.
Faster than a bullet.
She barely had time to react before Clarent's holy edge pierced through her barrier, through her magic—through her defenses.
I twisted the blade, and red lightning surged into her body.
Her eyes widened in disbelief. Then a massive explosion of light erupted around us.
When the dust cleared, only I remained. Grayfia's voice rang out. "Riser Phenex's Queen has been retired."
I exhaled sharply, lowering Clarent.
It was done. Yubelluna was out of the game.
I turned toward the battlefield, Rias and Riser's fight raged above.
Issei's power soared to its peak.
This is the final stretch, as I began to head to Rias.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
POV: Rias Gremory
"You can't win, Rias."
Riser hovered above me, golden wings of flame spread wide as fire coiled around his hands.
"This resistance of yours?" He smirked. "It's pathetic."
I gritted my teeth and raised my hand.
A sphere of Destruction formed in my palm.
Riser laughed. "Ah, desperate already?"
I fired.
He dodged—but I wasn't aiming for him.
The orb shot past, hitting a floating debris piece—
*BOOM!*
The shockwave sent him off balance.
That was my opening.
I raised both hands, summoning multiple arrows of destruction.
They rained down, forcing him to dodge midair.
But he wasn't taking me seriously yet.
Fine.
I exhaled slowly, focusing. I raised both hands, power coiling around me.
Then, I spoke the incantation that would end this. "Manifest, my dragon of ruin."
The energy surged forward, twisting and shaping itself into the form of a massive destruction dragon.
Riser's eyes widened.
The dragon roared, the sheer force shaking the battlefield.
"I'm just plain stronger, Rias" he arrogantly stated.
He raised his hands, summoning a towering inferno, flames burning hotter than ever.
"Let's see who's stronger!" I shouted.
The battlefield shook as our attacks collided.
The Destruction Dragon lunged forward, its mouth opening wide as it surged toward Riser's wave of flames.
Fire and void met in a violent explosion, the impact carving a crater into the battlefield below.
Riser pushed forward, his wings flaring, sending a column of fire straight at me.
I dodged, blinking above him, forming two orbs of Destruction in my hands before launching them downward.
Riser smirked, twisting midair as the orbs tore through his shoulder and side-
Only for the wounds to instantly regenerate.
I gritted my teeth.
His immortality was a problem.
"You look frustrated, Rias," Riser mocked, his body already restored. "I told you. This is pointless."
I didn't respond. Instead, I pressed forward.
I formed another destruction sphere, shaping it into a spear and hurling it at him. Riser dodged—but this time, I was already there. I twisted midair, slamming my foot into his ribs.
The impact sent him spiraling downward, crashing into the school courtyard below.
Dust and debris exploded outward.
I descended, hovering above the impact zone.
Riser rose from the rubble, wiping blood from his lip.
He was smiling. "That actually hurt." He proclaimed pridefully.
Damn, that stupid smirk on his face…
"Riser's queen has been retired" The news sent a feeling of pleasure through my body as I saw Riser's arrogant face falter for just a moment.
His wounds were already healing.
I clenched my fists.
"Face it," he grinned. "You're outmatched, even if your little human pet has defeated Yubelluna."
I didn't answer.
Instead, I raised both hands.
The Destruction Dragon coiled above me, its form shifting, becoming even larger. I funneled everything I had into it.
Riser's smile faltered again. The dragon roared, its form pulsating with raw destruction. I threw it forward. Riser let out a battle cry, launching a massive torrent of phoenix fire to meet it.
The battlefield erupted in a cataclysmic explosion.
