Chapter 25: Chapter 24 - Rating Game

Occult Research Club, Kuoh Academy –

POV: Shiori Oreki –

It was the weekend now and the rating game was set to begin. I had gathered along with Rias and her peerage in the club room to wait for us to be teleported to the battleground. Rias sat in her chair, while her peerage sat on the Sofas. I stood near a corner of the room, simply watching.

Rias had already gone through her plan to defeat Riser with all of us so we were just waiting now as Grayfia prepared to teleport us away.

Grayfia walked into the room after a while and said, "Are you all ready to begin?"

Rias looked up with a serious expression, "Yes we are ready Grayfia." With the confirmation from Rias Grayfia nodded and a teleportation circle appeared beneath us and flashed light through the room.

When the light faded, we were in the clubroom still and Grayfia is gone.

Issei looked confused, "Did I screw it up?"

Akeno responded, "No Issei, we are on the battlefield." She was right, I could sense that we weren't in the same area anymore, though I couldn't say exactly where we were.

Before Issei could further question a loud voice radiated around the room. "The rating game is now entering its beginning stages; all contestants please listen." It was Grayfia by the sound of it. She then began to go over the basic rules of rating game, and the retirement system. It wasn't anything new to me since Rias already explained everything earlier but I guess it was just rules.

It wasn't long before she began to address the specific rating game conditions, "As you'll have noticed the rating game is taking place in a simulated environment designed to mimic Kuoh Academy. Due to the unique nature of the competition being the first lady Rias has participated in, this was deemed as a sufficient handicap."

Rias didn't look to pleased at the word handicap but remained silent.

"Furthermore, at the request of Riser Phenex a human by the name of Shiori Oreki has been included as a supplementary piece for lady Rias. Keep in mind that members of the house of Phenex, Gremory, and Lord Lucifer are watching the game. Please have a showing worthy of them." She was talking to damn much, we get it.

I was incredibly annoyed, but it appeared everyone else was too nervous to acknowledge that she was talking too much.

Grayfia finished out, "Now with that being said, the rating game may begin."

The moment she said that Kiba and Koneko had already left the building in a flash to go set up traps as we already planned. Akeno left as well, though she was on scouting duty, getting a bird's eye view of the battlefield.

Rias then called out, "Issei. Come here for a moment. Lay your head on my lap."

Issei immediately was shocked to his core, "I'm sorry… What?"

Rias repeated, "Lay your head on my lap silly. It's important, please."

Issei's face took that stupid lecherous look, "Okay~" Perv… Issei then headed over to Rias on the couch and laid down, clearly having a great time.

Rias placed her hand on the side of Issei's head and a magic circle appeared. Once it had disappeared she nudged Issei to get up.

"I've just released a small spell I placed on you to limit your power. It was for your safety but it will take everything you've got if we're going to win." Rias said while standing up and going back to lean on the main desk.

Issei looked at his left hand flexing his fingers. "So the stuff I did during training wasn't even my full potential…" He looked at a small green circle appeared on his hand.

Rias spoke up again, "Once Koneko gets back then you will head out to the Gymnasium. Riser will probably have already sent pieces there…" She placed her hand on her chin in thought clearly trying to strategize on the move.

It wasn't long until exactly that happened as Koneko showed up. "Come on perv. Let's go to the Gymnasium." Koneko clearly didn't like Issei very much.

"Oh alright-" Issei responded with nervousness. They then left to go to the gym in the center of the field.

After they left Rias looked towards me, "Again thank you, Shiori. You being here really increases our chances."

I waved my hand dismissively, "Riser practically demanded I join in, so I might as well see to it that he gets humbled." I looked outside the window towards where the enemy base is. "Besides… Hiyama would want me to help you. I can't do much to find him anyway until something changes…" My voice cracked with emotion.

I felt Rias wrap her arms around me from behind, "We will find Hiyama, Shiori. Once we are done here, I will devote all of our time to finding Hiyama."

"Thanks, Rias." I placed my hand on her arm as she hugged me, before she let go.

"For now, we need to get ready, things are about to get serious." Just Rias said that an explosion could be heard from a distance.

Underworld, Rating Game Battlefield –

POV: Issei Hyoudou –

The battlefield was silent as Koneko and I slipped through the shadows of the Rating Game's grounds, moving carefully toward the gymnasium. The night sky above was dotted with fake stars, the dim glow casting eerie shadows on the streets.

Rias had given us our orders—eliminate any stragglers and disrupt Riser's forces. Koneko had already finished setting traps, so now it was time to engage.

My gauntlet pulsed as I ran beside her, keeping pace despite the growing tension in my chest. This was my first real battle.

Time to prove myself.

The air inside was heavy with anticipation. Koneko and I barely had time to take a defensive stance before the doors on the opposite end burst open.

Four figures stepped forward, each radiating confidence.

At the front was a tall woman dressed in a traditional Chinese qipao, the outfit complementing her athletic build. Her long dark hair was tied in an elegant braid, and her piercing gaze locked onto Koneko. I could tell just by looking at her-she was strong.

Beside her stood three girls, each sporting a predatory smirk. Two of them had short green hair and were twins, while the last one had long violet hair in two pigtails, her expression far more aggressive.

The tallest one, the Chinese martial artist, took a step forward. "The Gremory Queen's Pawn and her little Rook. How cute."

Koneko cracked her knuckles, unfazed. "I'll handle her."

I nodded, locking eyes with the three Pawns, who all gave me sadistic grins.

"Looks like we get the pervert," one of the twins snickered.

I scowled. "You guys are really underestimating me."

The violet-haired girl scoffed, rolling her shoulders as she leveled her staff. "Let's see if you can handle all of us at once, then."

I clenched my fists. "Bring it."

Before I could even react, Koneko and the qipao-clad woman were already engaged.

The woman lunged, throwing a high-speed kick straight for Koneko's head.

Koneko ducked, countering with a palm strike to her ribs. The woman twisted at the last second, redirecting the impact and responding with a spinning kick.

The sheer force of the blow sent Koneko skidding backward, but she didn't even flinch. Her golden eyes remained focused, unshaken.

"Tch. You're sturdier than I expected," the woman muttered, rolling her shoulders.

Koneko simply raised her fists, waiting for her next move.

I barely had time to react before the violet-haired girl closed the gap between us, swinging straight at my chest.

I jumped back just in time to dodge, but one of the twins appeared at my side, aiming a chainsaw at my ribs.

Wait- A FUCKING CHAINSAW!

"Crap!"

I blocked just in time with my gauntlet, but the vibration staggered me.

These girls were fast-and they were overwhelming me.

"Boost!"

The green jewel on my Boosted Gear pulsed as power surged through me.

I caught the next attack, twisting the girl's wrist and shoving her away as she dropped the chainsaw before sidestepping the violet-haired one's next strike.

"You're a lot stronger than I thought," I admitted, dodging another punch.

Violet-haired one smirked. "Too bad strength won't save you from three-on-one."

She was right. I needed an edge.

That's when I remembered—my new move. I grinned. Time to test it out. I had practiced it one that dummy every night.

I took a deep breath, focusing on the power in my hands. As the three Pawns lunged at me again, I reached forward—

And grabbed onto the violet-haired one's shoulder.

A pulse of energy shot through my fingers.

"Dress Break!"

In an instant, her outfit exploded into light.

Her eyes widened in horrified shock.

"W-What the hell?!"

The twins froze, momentarily distracted.

I didn't waste the opportunity.

With a quick burst of speed, I tagged both of them in the same way—and just like that, their outfits vanished into thin air.

Their shrieks of surprise filled the gym as they scrambled to cover themselves.

"Oh my god, you pervert!" one of them screamed.

"Shut up and fight, dammit!" I shot back.

But the damage was already done. They were too busy trying to hide behind each other, and they couldn't dodge my next attacks which were considerably harder.

Grayfia's voice rang over the field. As they were knocked out, "Three of Riser's Pawns have been retired."

I exhaled, relieved. "It actually worked."

Meanwhile, Koneko was trading blows with the martial artist. The woman was faster, her technique refined. But Koneko was sturdier. She absorbed every hit without faltering, waiting for her moment.

And when it came—

She slipped under a high kick, grabbed the woman by her leg, and slammed her straight into the gym floor.

*Crack*

The woman let out a groan, her head spinning. She tried to push herself up—

But Koneko dropped her elbow onto her stomach, pinning her down.

Grayfia's voice echoed again. "Riser's Rook has been retired."

Koneko stood up, dusting off her hands. "Done."

I grinned, pumping my fist. "Hell yeah!" The fight was over. We won.

"You're a perv-" Koneko sent a punch to my gut, breaking me out of my celebration.

"Damn..." I slumped down for a second to catch my breath, but regardless we still won.

A/N: So what do you guys think? Any constructive criticism is welcome. Also, be sure to leave a review and power stones as that is my motivation.

I'm going to come back to this chapter to edit more, but I have been slowing down in my writing so I just wanted to get it out while I had it.

And the clothing that Riser's rook was wear is a qipao right? Issei doesn't know their names so I was trying to find something short to refer to them as.
