HIGH SCHOOL DIARIES (A Tale Of Love And Deception)

Chapter 55: Chapter 55 The leverage

Back in Ivory high

2024(Present day)

The silence that followed Hadrain's departure was deafening. The blackened, charred remains of those who once stood powerful and proud were now scattered like ashes on the floor. Peter's eyes glistened with fury as he read the message on the wall. "This is for the Alexandria family. Game on." His blood boiled, but he knew this was no time for rage; it was time for action.

Jonas, who had been quiet the whole time, finally spoke, his voice calm but edged with concern. "We underestimated him. He's more dangerous than we thought."

Peter's clenched fists trembled as he turned to Jonas, his voice a growl, "Dangerous? He's a traitor! He will burn for this."

Abigail sat unmoved, her cold gaze fixed on the remnants of the scene. "We always knew Hadrain had potential, but it seems we were blind to the true extent of his power."

She slowly stood, brushing the dust from her gown. "This won't end well for him. The rituals may have failed tonight, but we still have the upper hand. We still have the black dragon. And we still have leverage."

Peter's lips curled into a sneer. "Leverage, you say?"

Abigail's eyes flickered with a glimmer of something dark. "The girl. Emily Bennet. She's still tied to him, whether he likes it or not. She will be his undoing."

Peter let out a long breath, regaining some composure. "You're right. We'll use her. Hadrain thinks he can escape the Black Dragon, but no one escapes the Lockwoods."

He turned to his men. "Find Emily Bennet. Bring her to me. Alive."

Meanwhile, at Ivory High

Emily and Slyvia had just returned to the dormitory, their hearts still pounding from the eerie red moon and the sudden announcement. Slyvia, ever the protective friend, had wrapped her arm around Emily, keeping her close as they fled the ballroom. But Emily's mind was elsewhere. Her thoughts were consumed by the image of Hadrain and Alexa together, hand in hand, looking every bit the perfect couple.

It was a cruel reminder that she was never truly part of his world. No matter how much she loved him, Hadrain would always be out of reach—especially now, after tonight.

Slyvia noticed Emily's silence and gave her a gentle nudge. "Hey, you okay?"

Emily blinked, forcing a smile. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just... tired, I guess."

Slyvia raised an eyebrow but didn't press further. "Well, don't let those idiots' words get to you. They're just jealous. Trust me, you're better than any of them."

Emily nodded half-heartedly, her eyes distant as they walked into the dorm. She didn't want to admit it, but those cruel words had cut deep. She felt like a plain figure lost in a world of beauty and power. A girl who could never measure up.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Slyvia frowned. "Who could that be at this hour?"

She walked over and opened it, only to find a tall, broad-shouldered man standing there, dressed in a dark suit. His face was obscured by shadows, but his presence was imposing. "I'm here for Emily Bennet," he said in a deep, emotionless voice.

Slyvia's hand instinctively moved to shut the door, but the man's hand shot out, stopping it in its tracks. "She needs to come with me. Now."

Emily stepped forward, her heart racing. "What do you want from me?"

The man's cold eyes met hers. "You're being summoned. By the Lockwoods."

In the Underground Facility

Daniel's mind was a haze of confusion and pain. The procedure had left him disoriented, his thoughts fractured and incomplete. He could barely remember his own name, much less the face of Damian Wayne Williams. But deep within the fog of his mind, something stirred—a single, burning desire to kill. To find and eliminate his target. It was the only clear thought he had left.

As the guards unchained him, he staggered to his feet, his body weak but driven by the command that had been drilled into his brain. Abigail's cold voice echoed in his mind. Erase everything from that stupid brain of his and make him have one goal—the killing of Damian Wayne Williams.

Daniel gritted his teeth as he clenched his fists. I am Lamia, he thought. And I have a mission.

The guards led him out of the facility and into the night. The cool air hit his face, but it did nothing to clear the fog in his mind. All that remained was the cold, calculated purpose: find Damian and end him.

Back at the Ivory High Dormitory

Emily was sitting in the back of the sleek black car, she has planned it all with Slyvia to get information and that was why she was following the men in black if not why put herself in danger, her mind was spinning with fear and uncertainty but knowing that Slyvia her best friend was with her made her to relax a bit . The man who had come for her hadn't said a word since they left the dormitory, and she hadn't dared ask any questions. But she knew—deep down—that whatever awaited her at the Lockwoods' estate couldn't be good.

As the car wound through the darkened streets, Emily's heart raced. She couldn't stop thinking about Hadrain. Was this about him? Was he in trouble? And what was this call about, are they planning to get rid of her? She shouldn't dwell on that they wouldn't do something so stupid.

The car eventually pulled up to a grand estate, its iron gates swinging open with a creak. The mansion loomed ahead, its windows glowing with a dim, eerie light.

Emily swallowed hard as the man opened the door for her. "Get out," he ordered.

She hesitated for a moment but complied, stepping out of the car. Her legs felt like they were made of lead as she followed the man up the long driveway to the mansion's entrance.

The door swung open, and standing in the dimly lit foyer was Peter Lockwood, his cold eyes fixed on Emily.

"Welcome, Miss Bennet," he said, his voice dripping with false politeness. "We have much to discuss."
