Chapter 6: Chapter Six
Over the next one week the bloodbath that Major unleashed on his men that were secret spies for Ricci was revoking. He couldn't believe the number of moles that Ricci lodged into his drug empire. To spite Ricci back, he had his next consignment of hard drugs shipped under the pharmaceutical label that was owned by Ricci's most affiliated connection. He was able to seize attention of clients that Ricci had under that channel, which were quite a lot. Ricci retaliated by giving an anonymous tip to the Italy's drug law Enforcement about the Bacuzzi's next drug shipment. However Major outsmarted the national agents and still successfully smuggled hard pills along with medical tablets though he had to pay the pharmacist a lot of money to appease him to remain a loyal connection. In fact the conflict between the Ricci's and the Bacuzzi's drug ring became so heightened that Major's dad, Keith had to call the immediate Bacuzzi family for a meeting.
He started. 'Son, I don't know what you plan to achieve with all this but you know Ricci is a stubborn man, you strike him, he strikes you 5 times harder'. He continued. 'It's why we decided to keep the peace with their cartel because Ricci is an unbeatable enemy and all this bloodbath on both sides is not good for future relations with your soon to be in-law'.
That struck Major hard, he was used to hearing from his governess that he was betrothed to the first born of Ricci as a peace pact between both rival families but having them say it open was a blow to his heart.
He couldn't believe that Ricci whom he had a passionate hatred for was going to be his in-law in the nearest future. Ha! Think about that. 'Major, say something' his father urged. He watched his son quietly debate to himself for the past 10 seconds and he wanted to hear what was going on in his mind. 'Dad with all due respect, I don't think the marriage will work. I don't think I would be able to love any child of Ricci. I don't think I can look up to that man as an in-law'.
His mom gave a light-hearted chuckle. 'No one's talking about love here. This is purely business, arranged to maximize business relations'. Major felt a low churn of foreboding in his stomach. He wasn't a love freak but he has always wanted a wife, children and a home he would deeply cherish and would look forward to coming back home to everyday. All his hopes for that was going to be shattered.
'well, you will and you shall' his dad added. 'both families agreed a long time ago that when things get too heated we would marry off the firstborn to keep the peace.'
Major studied his father and then his mother. They were dead serious. His plans to show the older Ricci who the boss was backfired hotly in his face. The penalty was a set-up marriage with his daughter; it made him wonder how dangerous the man could get, if his parents are surrendering him as a peace offering.
No that can't happen he mentally snapped at himself he wasn't licking the boots of any old man by marrying his dirty daughter. Anger gripped his heart as he stood up sharply. What kind of plot twist is this? This was not what he expected from his parents. He thought they had called him to show him hidden flaws in Ricci's well-armed system that would give him the upper-hand in the clash between the two cartels.
'Nah. I am not doing it. It shows that we are weak and that I am not! many things you have taught me dad, but not to appear weak. I will not give that man an ego-boost'. He spat in irritation.
His dad leaned forward, licking his lips in excitement. 'See it as a ploy to get him closer and find the chink in his armor. His first daughter is his favorite. You can use his daughter to get to him'.
Major huffed and straightened his jacket. 'I barely even know the girl dad.' Don't get too excited. He flicked his gaze over to the clock by the giant mantel of the fireplace. He was supposed to be at the venue of Laves launch fifteen minutes ago. The conversation had started to bore him. He grabbed his briefcase by his side.
'We can arrange a date for you and the girl tomorrow, just pick a time and a venue' his mother spoke up hastily not wanting him to leave till a decision was made. He breathed deeply, considering it. 'Fine mom. But I don't promise anything.'
'You will marry her' his father cut in harshly. 'It's just an arrangement for you to meet the girl'. His jaw was tight set.
The air reverberated with unsteady tension. Major curtly nodded and left the room, his heart the weight of stone. His mind was not here right now. His heart was in far far Italy, lost in the subtle curves of Aria's erotic body.
Major did a deep background search on Sienna Ricci, his supposed betrothed a night before the day of the date. It was supposed to be a blind date but he explored her hobbies, the taste of clothes she wore, her interests per what she posted on her social media, which all gave clues as to the kind of person she was.
Major did this not because he was in the least interested in Sienna Ricci, but because he was a domineering freak and didn't like being put in an intimate position with somebody without knowing the person thoroughly.
He felt like it gave him an edge over the situation, to know what somebody was thinking before they spoke, to have insights in the persona of someone, to psycho-analyze someone. It made him feel in control.
He found out that Sienna had an eye for peach so he wore a peach colored suit. He found out that Sienna worked as an event planner and manager so he made sure to get info on all the events she's planned. He found out that she was a passionate pasta lover so he picked a famous pasta place in town .
He was set on swaying her not that he in the least cared but because he was always set to impress, friend or foe.
