Chapter 164: Something troublesome
"Damn, why did it have to come to my hands…" I couldn't help cursing when I saw the report in front of me.
It had been a while since I started working in this Land Survey Department, but I had climbed quite far with the things that I've been able to submit.
Of course, these were all things that I had gotten from my other avatars.
These were things that would only hurt others and wouldn't hurt any of the interests of my avatars.
But now that I had climbed to this point, I was starting to get information that wasn't as good…
"Which idiot would actually dare to touch the elves…" I said with a shake of my head and a sigh as I looked at the report that was in front of me.
This was a report on the activities of a certain noble that had chosen to start a risky business.
That business was elven slaves.
There might have been a time where elven slaves were normal since the elves were all beautiful. There were plenty of people that would be willing to pay for these beautiful elven slaves.
But since the racial wars and the peace accord that was brokered, there were very few people that dared to try something like this.
After all, the elves were very protective of their own and would do anything to save their comrades that were captured.
If there was anyone that dared to trade in elven slaves, there was no doubt that they would face the wrath of the elven race.
The biggest problem now was that the person that dared to do this was actually a noble of the Abel Kingdom. That meant that if this case wasn't handled properly, then it would result in an interracial incident between the humans and the elves.
That was why it was a headache for this to come onto my desk.
"It doesn't matter how dumb this person is. The only thing that matters right now is figuring out a way to deal with this situation." I muttered to myself as I read the report.
Thinking about it, it didn't really seem like there was a good way to handle this.
After all, all the solutions that I came up with seemed to lead to some kind of damage to the relationship between humans and elves. It really was hard to keep this relationship between humans and elves when someone had been turned into slaves.
"No, there is a way…" I suddenly said as I realized something.
I looked at the report again and thought about the different issues that might pop up with this plan.
But in the end, I said to myself, "This is the only way. As long as I personally come out to handle this matter, then there shouldn't be a problem."
Only no matter how well things were planned, it wouldn't always turn out the way that one wanted it to turn out.
Once I finished thinking this through, I decided to bring this to a superior.
However, it wasn't just any superior that I was bringing this to.
This kind of case could only be handled by someone with a certain level of status.
It was a good thing that my future father in law was someone with that status.
"Damn, this is a troublesome case."
He felt the exact same way about this case as me the moment that I brought it to him.
"I have a plan." I said only after Viscount Denoir had finished reading the report that I handed him.
He narrowed his eyes to look at me, but then he said, "What is your plan?"
"I have a friend from the past that is an elf. If I reach out to him and contact the elves, then we might be able to work together to punish this idiot who thought that he could touch the elves."
Viscount Denoir's expression didn't change when he heard this.
He just looked at me like this for a while before finally saying, "What makes you so confident that it will work? It's not as if he is in a high position that will allow him to make a decision among the elves."
"He's a high elf." I pulled my trump card out without hesitation.
The expression on Viscount Denoir's face changed as soon as he heard this.
He looked at me as if he couldn't believe what I was saying, but that expression soon disappeared when he saw the serious look that I had.
"Alright, then we'll go with your plan." He said in a decisive voice that didn't have a trace of hesitation.
It was all because I had mentioned that the elf that I knew was a high elf.
Since it was a high elf, it was a completely different story.
After all, the high elves were very special compared to normal elves.
This was something that everyone knew, so it wasn't as if this was some kind of hidden secret. At the same time, since Viscount Denoir was in charge of the intelligence network of the Abel Kingdom, he would know more about the high elves than normal people would.
As such, he wouldn't doubt me when I said that I knew a high elf.
Since the die had been cast, the only thing that could be done now was push forward with this matter.
That was why I would contact Aragon and see how this would end.
Though it wasn't as if it was a bad thing to connect to him now.
Aragon had gained a certain amount of status among the elves and if I were to connect him to my status as one of the nobles of the Abel Kingdom, it would make it easier to manipulate both races in the future.
The key was introducing Aragon to the hero as well.
If that happened, then there was no doubt that it would even be easier.
After all, if a high elf joined the hero party…
It wasn't hard to imagine how much influence they would have.
