Hellcoin Billionaire: My Ghost Shop Fuels My Cultivation

Chapter 127: Back to Campus

"I thought you'd come across some kind of lucky break and were about to take me soaring to success! Heh, that's how it always goes in novels!" Chen Yuanyuan grinned.

"...,"

Song Miaozhu replied. "I give up on you. One minute you're saying fiction and reality are different, the next you're quoting novels again."

"That just shows how much I trust you!" Chen Yuanyuan said cheerfully. "Anyway, have you decided what class you're taking? I'm thinking of watercolor. I heard the instructors for the craft courses are all top-tier professionals."

"Let me check."

As they talked, Song Miaozhu opened the penguin group app she hadn't touched in ages, looking through the academy's latest announcements and the document for the required craft course.

After all these years of studying, it would be a shame not to graduate properly just because she missed a credit. If the new course lasted several months, she might have thought twice about it. But since it was only ten days, she figured she'd go, finish her studies properly, and mark the end of her school life.

According to the document, there were quite a few options, mostly in four categories: calligraphy, painting, music, and dance.

Ten days, sixty class hours, designed for absolute beginners—so in the end, it was likely they'd only scratch the surface.

"Clearly a pilot program by the SEIU to test public readiness for the spiritual revival."

College students, compared to younger students, could handle more flexibility. Rolling it out at universities made sense.

After some thought, Song Miaozhu made her decision. "I'll do watercolor too."

Among the ghost instructors she had hired for painting, some were skilled in watercolor, but she hadn't yet begun formal training. She might as well learn the basics at school first, then continue under their guidance afterward. No point wasting ten days doing nothing.

"Great! That means we'll be in class together for a few days!" Chen Yuanyuan beamed. "When are you coming back?"

"I should arrive tomorrow morning," Song Miaozhu replied after a moment's thought.

"Awesome! I'll head back to the dorm today and tidy up."

Since Song Miaozhu had moved out, Chen Yuanyuan had gone back to living in her little off-campus place.

"No need. I'm not staying in the dorm this time," Song Miaozhu said. "I plan to rent a place near campus for half a month or maybe a full month—either a hotel or a guesthouse."

It was only Friday. She had returned two days early specifically to find a place to stay.

This trip, she also intended to wrap up her graduation matters once and for all so she wouldn't have to keep traveling back and forth. Dorm life didn't really suit her. She was the type to stay up all night and only head out for food when hungry. Living off-campus was simply more convenient.

"Really? Then why not rent the place above mine?" Chen Yuanyuan suggested. "You know I plan to graduate and focus on writing my webnovel and doing my food blog, right? My parents were worried I'd starve, so they bought all the units above and below my little apartment. They've already been renovated and rented out, except the one right above me. The last tenant just left, and no one's moved in yet. It's fully furnished and ready—you could move in with just your suitcase. Once you leave, it'll be graduation season, easier to find the next tenant too."

"That sounds perfect! You're already a landlord now? How much for a month? I'll transfer it to you," Song Miaozhu said.

If she weren't always holed up in Xiaozhu Mountain, too lazy to manage things, she would've started buying properties too.

"Three thousand, but I'll give you a discount. Two thousand four hundred!"

"Transferred!" Song Miaozhu sent the full 3,000. "I'm a rich woman now, no need for discounts!"

"Wow, look at you! Then I'll come pick you up tomorrow!"

After hanging up, Song Miaozhu immediately went to book her ticket. She opened the train ticket app but then remembered she was no longer strapped for cash, so she checked flight options instead. Time was more valuable now that she could afford it.

"No flights from Lingcheng to Jiangcheng?"

In the end, she had to go back and check train tickets. Between a sleeper train that would leave tonight and arrive the next morning, and a high-speed train with business class seats leaving at 6 a.m. and arriving at 9 a.m., she chose the latter.

The only problem was that the station was in the city, and catching a ride in the morning would be a hassle. So she decided to head to the city tonight, stay at a hotel, and go directly to the train in the morning.

At least in a hotel, she could still get her own things done, which was better than sleeping on a train.

Once her hotel was booked, she started packing.

She put the essentials she'd need during travel in her suitcase and backpack. After thinking for a while, she realized there wasn't much to pack. Everything else would only be useful after arrival. Those could go into the storage room of her ghost shop, her private vault. No need to carry them with her.

She also moved anything remotely valuable from the house into the ghost shop's storage, working with the mindset that even if someone broke in, they'd leave empty-handed. She gave the house a thorough sweep, leaving behind only the most ordinary of household items—so mundane that even a burglar might cry from disappointment.

Only then did she feel at ease.

After packing, she went out into the courtyard and called over her three kittens. Whether they understood or not, she still told them:

"I'll be away for a while. You three behave and keep an eye on the house with the little paper servants, okay?"

The kittens only meowed, not understanding a thing, and were soon playing with their tails again. Luckily, the little paper servants in charge of guarding the house were already handling feeding duties and cleaning the litter box.

So Song Miaozhu wasn't worried about the cats starving or being uncomfortable while she was gone. As for the little paper servants, they were linked with her mind. She didn't need to leave instructions.

Whenever something happened, they already knew what she had decided and would act accordingly. Right after she selected her course, a car drove into view on the outer wall's paper servant surveillance.

It was the car she had booked.

Song Miaozhu grabbed her mostly-empty suitcase and backpack, which looked large but barely held anything, and stepped out. After getting into the car, she messaged the group chat with Zhao Mumu and Chen Shuanghe.

[Miaow Zhu]: Heading back to school to take care of graduation stuff. I'll be away for a while. Call me if anything comes up!

[Wood & Flow]: Wait… You haven't graduated yet?

[Twin Sprouts]: Is it for that new university craft course? People are going crazy over it on the Lingcheng University forums.

[Miaow Zhu]: Yup. Gotta attend a few days of classes.

[Wood & Flow]: You're overqualified for that! With your level, you could pass the certification exam and go back as an instructor.

[Miaow Zhu]: Attending class is way easier than taking the certification exam.

[Wood & Flow]: True. I heard you have to study education theory too if you want to get certified as a craft master.

[Twin Sprouts]: Can't wait for you to come back!

[Miaow Zhu]: Mm.

After putting down her phone and estimating how much longer it would take to reach the hotel, Song Miaozhu pulled a slim laptop from her almost-empty backpack. She had placed it earlier in the ghost shop's storage.

She opened it and searched for: "Ministry of Public Security Class-A Wanted List."

Zhao Mumu' ID is changed in this chapter, the earlier version is just her name not [Wood & Flow]. So I put the analysis on her name ID at the chapter 'Returning to Roots'. You can check out if you curious about it.
