Chapter 36: Star Essence Crystal And The Void Flame Core
As soon as Adrien saw that Alina was fully dressed, he gave a slight smile and said,
"Let's go outside and talk."
His voice held both seriousness and warmth. Everyone—Sophiya, Alina, and the others—quietly followed behind him. Outside the Chamber of Lunar, Victor and Ming Hao were already standing, as if they had been waiting for them.
Silently, the group returned to the grand Chamber of Lunar—a place reserved only for the wealthy and powerful. Every corner of the building radiated luxury—moon-shaped carvings on the walls, glowing crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, and the faint fragrance of sacred incense floating in the air.
Sophiya once again booked a private VIP room—a chamber that not only provided privacy but also came with high-level security and premium service. After settling in, everyone ordered a few dishes and waited for them to arrive.
Breaking the silence, Adrien turned to Sophiya and asked—
"So, big sister, why do you need the Spirit Nectar Fruit?"
Sophiya took a deep breath. The pain of the past was clearly visible on her face. After a moment of silence, she replied—
"Some time ago, a mysterious place was discovered in the Northern Region... it was like a different dimension altogether. Master and a few seniors went there to investigate. We don't know what happened inside, but only half of those who went in came back. And Master..."
Her voice trembled.
"Master returned in critical condition. After investigation, we learned that her soul was gravely damaged. To heal her soul, we need an extract from the Spirit Nectar Fruit. That's why we've been searching for it."
Interest lit up in Adrien's eyes.
"What was that place like? Did you get any information about it?"
Sophiya shook her head.
"No, we haven't learned anything. We'll only know once Master regains consciousness."
Adrien spoke inwardly to the system—
"System, I need a pure Spirit Nectar Fruit. Place it in my storage ring."
The system's calm voice replied—
"Spirit Nectar Fruit has been purchased. It has been placed in your storage ring. You may collect it now."
Adrien carefully looked inside his storage ring. There he found a beautifully carved wooden box, engraved with delicate patterns. He took it out and silently handed it to Sophiya.
Sophiya gently opened the box. Inside was a lightly purple and blue colored fruit, radiating a fragrance so pure it felt like it was cleansing her soul. Within seconds, relief and gratitude filled her expression.
She carefully closed the box and stored it inside her storage ring. Then, she took out two rare items from her own ring—the Star Essence Crystal and the Void Flame Core—and handed them to Adrien.
Adrien examined both items intently. Once he was confident they were genuine, he stored them safely in his ring.
Curiously, Sophiya asked—
"By the way, Adrien, what are you going to do with the Void Flame Core and Star Essence Crystal?"
Adrien smiled faintly and dodged the question—
"Big sister, I'm going to create something with them. And please don't ask me what it is, because I can't tell you that right now."
He then turned to Alina and asked—
"Alina, do you have the Dragon Heart Lotus? Can you sell it to me?"
At the word "sell," anger flickered in Alina's eyes. She glared at Adrien sharply.
Realizing his mistake immediately, Adrien corrected himself quickly—
"I mean, could you give me the Dragon Heart Lotus?"
Alina responded coldly—
"Why do you need the Dragon Heart Lotus? Tell me the reason first. Then I'll decide whether to give it to you or not."
After a brief pause, Adrien said—
"I can't tell you, Alina... but I truly need the Dragon Heart Lotus."
Though his memories had returned and he now fully understood how deeply Alina loved him, the existence of the system was a secret Adrien could never reveal—not even to her.
He had already decided that he would first uncover the truth behind the shadow. Only then would he decide whether the truth about the system should be revealed to others… or forever kept hidden.
Alina glanced toward Luo Bai. Her eyes held a flicker of hesitation, a shade of concern. Without speaking a word, she initiated a spiritual dialogue—a silent form of communication that only experienced cultivator women were capable of.
"Sister, what do you think... what should I do?"
Luo Bai's voice responded directly within her consciousness—
"You were planning to auction the Dragon Heart Lotus to buy a Dantian Healing Pill for Adrien. But now that his Dantian is already healed, that's no longer necessary. And if you really want to know what he plans to do with all of this, then you should ask him in private. Maybe he's just being cautious, which is why he hasn't said anything yet."
Alina remained silent. She said nothing. Instead, she quietly pulled out a beautifully carved wooden container used to store herbs. Magical symbols were etched onto its surface, reflecting its purity and importance.
Without a word, she extended the container toward Adrien.
Adrien didn't inspect it; he simply placed it into his storage ring. But in his mind, he called out:
"System, all the materials are gathered. You can start making the pill now."
The system's calm voice echoed:
"All materials received. Pill refinement process has begun. 5 Fate Points have been deducted from the host."
Adrien's eyes widened in surprise.
"System, why are you deducting Fate Points?"
"Pill crafting is a long and exhausting process, which you are not personally performing. Hence, 5 Fate Points are required," the system replied.
Adrien, clearly irritated, said:
"No way! You never mentioned Fate Point deductions in the mission briefing!"
The system responded coldly:
"Then you may retrieve your materials. But remember—until you double the capacity of your Dantian, your cultivation base will not progress. You're free to make your decision."
Adrien gritted his teeth and muttered angrily:
"Fine. Take them. Just make the damn pill."
"5 Fate Points deducted from the host. Pill crafting has commenced. The pill will take some time to refine. Please wait," the system said, then fell silent.
Adrien brushed the thought aside and turned to look at Alina—who was sitting quietly, her eyes solely fixed on him, as if studying his every move.
Just then, a knock sounded at the door. A few waiters entered, bringing the dishes they had ordered and arranged them neatly on the table. The atmosphere lightened once more. Everyone began to eat and engage in casual conversation.
Once the meal was finished, Luo Bai stood up and said:
"Adrien, I'm heading back to the sect with the Spirit Nectar Fruit. I need to arrange treatment for Master first. After that, I'll return and see you."
Adrien nodded, letting her go without protest—he understood that her responsibility came first.
Luo Bai quietly exited the room. Ji Fan followed her out. Ming Hao gave Adrien and Alina a look—almost as if he was deliberately giving them some privacy—and then he, too, stepped outside.
Now, only two people remained in the room—Adrien and Alina.
Alina, who had been sitting across from him, quietly stood up and came to sit beside him. After a brief silence, the two began to talk.
Alina asked Adrien many things—how he felt after regaining his memories, what he remembered, and how his internal state was. Adrien responded to everything honestly. He also asked Alina about her sect, the current situation there, and her cultivation progress.
They became completely immersed in conversation. Time itself seemed to pause.
After a while, Adrien said:
"Alina, come on. Let's go outside for a walk."
Alina nodded in agreement. Without another word, the two of them stood up and left the restaurant section of the Chamber of Lunar.
The Chamber of Lunar was a vast and magnificent structure, segmented into various sections—restaurants, auction halls, stores, rest areas, and special service zones.
Adrien and Alina made their way toward the store section. Numerous stalls were lined up—some selling rare herbs, others showcasing weapons, pills, and a variety of mystical runes.
Adrien observed everything around him with childlike excitement. He would stop at a stall, examine the items carefully, then move to the next. Alina followed him with a faint smile, clearly enjoying his innocent enthusiasm.
Time passed slowly as they strolled, observed, and talked.
Eventually, Alina said:
"Adrien, shall we visit the Blind Treasure Hall?"
Adrien looked at her, a bit puzzled.
"Blind Treasure Hall? What's that?"
With a gentle smile, Alina explained:
"The Blind Treasure Hall contains items recovered from ancient tombs, ruins, or mysterious locations. Most of them are buried deep in the earth, extremely old and unexamined. When cleaning or inspecting them, some get damaged, some survive. If you're lucky, they can bring enormous fortune... if not, you might end up with worthless junk."
Adrien understood. He realized this was a place where luck played a major role—and lately, he had started to believe in luck.
"Let's go," he said without hesitation.
And together, the two of them walked toward the Blind Treasure Hall...
