Chapter 20: Engagement
Taking a sip, Feng Shen glanced at his mother. "You are excused. Go bathe yourself, you reek of piss. The same goes for all of you here! You're excused!" His voice, yet calm, was loud.
Immediately, Mei Lian rose and began to leave the dining hall, followed by all the maidservants—some of whom had to help each other as they staggered out.
Feng Yuanyun remained silent, relieved to see everyone leave. He had wanted to clear the room to speak privately with his second son.
As to have a man-to-man conversation. He was eager to rebuild their relationship and discuss the path ahead.
"I truly can't praise you enough, my boy! The future of the Feng family is bright!" Feng Yuanyun boasted, pouring himself more alcohol and allowing himself to get slightly intoxicated.
It had been a while since he could truly relax about the future, a concern that had weighed heavily on him.
Although his first son was a genius, to Feng Yuanyun, the boy was a coward. He constantly hired others to do his dirty work, never engaging in a fight unless he was certain of victory—behavior only a coward would exhibit.
To truly grow, one had to experience life and death firsthand!
"Since you cleared the room, why not tell me what's on your mind?" Feng Yuanyun glanced at his second son, waiting for him to speak.
Feng Shen smirked, not bothering to look at his father as he continued drinking. "Well, it seemed you wanted to speak with me alone, so I simply am giving you the floor."
He didn't have all day to wait for his old man to dismiss everyone, so he decided to do it himself. It also gave him the perfect opportunity to show off and make it clear that no one in the Feng family should dare to mess with him.
After all, Feng Shen had no interest in hiding his strength or pretending to be a sheep in a tiger's skin. He wanted people to know exactly how powerful he was.
In the cultivation world, power was everything. To be respected, everyone had to know your status—there was no point in hiding it. The weak worshiped the strong, and that was the natural order.
Placing his drink down, Feng Yuanyun let out a chuckle. "I'll get straight to the point: your fiancée from the Cai family is visiting tomorrow with the Patriarch to break off the engagement."
"And?" Feng Shen replied, his tone indifferent. Memories had flooded his mind, revealing everything the previous soul had known about the Cai family and his fiancée.
Cai Xiu was regarded as the most beautiful fairy in the entire Upper Realm, coveted by countless suitors from various walks of life.
She had incited jealousy in countless women, all of whom prayed every night for her to be married off to an ugly bastard.
Even all nine princes of the Crane Royal Family had their sights set on Cai Xiu, each one eager to win her favor like devoted dog lickers.
She thrived on this attention, having been raised in luxury and pampered since birth.
Consequently, Cai Xiu embodied the archetype of a spoiled brat, looking down on those less fortunate and displaying little respect for anyone.
Thus, being engaged to the Second Young Master of the Feng family solely because of an ancestral promise between their families, she felt deeply annoyed and angered, like someone face slapped her.
Despite knowing this, the old soul had tried to win Cai Xiu's affection, becoming a major dog licker. He believed she was the only one capable of truly loving him, even though she treated him so poorly.
'Uh~ the old soul truly was trash…' Feng Shen thought to himself.
Among the additional information he had about the Cai family was their control over all alchemy establishments and their substantial influence within the Crane Empire.
They were not only a part of the Four Families, but also played a crucial role in the Crane Empire's economy through their extensive operations in alchemy and auctions.
Pretty much, the Cai family was an undeniable powerhouse, wielding immense influence in both political and economic matters.
It took Feng Yuanyun a few moments to gather his thoughts, feeling even more disbelief than when he first learned of his second son's killings.
'This...…'
Although he felt a twinge of sadness, Feng Yuanyun was well aware of his second son's infatuation with the First Young Lady of the Cai family.
This infatuation was partly why he had not even attempted to learn basic martial arts.
However, that thought quickly slipped from his mind as Feng Yuanyun downed more alcohol, letting himself get even drunker.
"It's great to hear that you don't care! Though it's a bit unfortunate, as a secret between us, I've heard she possesses the Pure Flower Physique." Feng Yuanyun revealed.
Feng Shen's ears perked up, and he stopped smiling, his gaze fixed on his small cup of alcohol as he gently spun it.
'That girl has the Pure Flower Physique?'
This was something Feng Shen knew he desperately needed—the First Young Lady of the Cai family—if he wanted to grow even faster.
'I need to get my hands on that spoiled brat at all costs!'
Before, Feng Shen hadn't cared about this young woman, but now it was a different story.
The Pure Flower Physique enhanced the strength of the Spiritual Root.
Say if someone with a Grade D Spiritual Root had intercourse with Cai Xiu, he would claim her innocence. This act would connect their Dao souls, allowing her physique to elevate his Spiritual Root to Grade C.
As she grows, her Pure Flower Physique becomes stronger, further raising the limits of the potential.
Feng Shen was perfectly fine with forcing himself upon this young lady, taking the benefits he could, and then pushing (forcing) her to grow in cultivation.
So, he decided to now take her as a tool for the time being to become stronger, keeping her around until she was no longer useful to him and ensuring he fully drained her.
'It appears I'm truly blessed.'
