Chapter 19: A Wooden Wall
Su Login wandered into the forest after killing Jing Ding. He didn't want to get into trouble with the senior brothers who worked as inspectors for the Trial. Finally, he stood on the branch of a rather tall tree.
Nearby, there was a group of six cultivators resting around the fire, they were tired after facing a group of Wooden Horned Squirrels. Squirrels were weak Magical Beasts, but they became dangerous when they were in groups.
That couple isn't around, but by Feng Tiao's strength, he's sure to have killed the serpent.
The young man crossed his legs and looked at the Karma System store. He had enough Karma Points to buy a Body Strengthening Pill, but would that really be useful? Wasn't it better to collect more points?
The Body Strengthening Pill was supposed to work like the pill he had received before, the problem was that he had no time for physical training. It was a fact that he was still weak, even though Jing Ding was weak, Su Login had to attack him many times until he killed him.
If Jing Ding had known how to fight, perhaps the result would have been different, he needed to advance to the next Realm soon.
I'll use this then.
A book appeared in the young man's hand, it was the Book of the Art of Murder that he had obtained after killing Jing Ding. He could get XP by reading the book and then consuming it, and just understanding what was written would be enough to Level up.
The next Level was Level 10, where he would unlock the Forge System.
Without wasting any more time, he decided to learn the Art of Murder.
He closed his eyes and began to understand each piece of information entering his mind. Like the Art of Seduction, the Art of Murder was based on understanding human feelings. The thirst for blood, the desire to kill, sadism and anger... various questions about these things arose in Su Login's mind.
As always, the System answered all the questions that arose, while Su Login tried to absorb some of the knowledge. His cultivation had increased a little, so he was beginning to have a better understanding of the nature of things.
[You have learned 'Art of Assassination'.]
[You received 30 XP.]
[The title 'Suppressor' reached Level 3.]
[You reached Level 10.]
[You unlocked 'Forge System'.]
[You consumed 'Book of the Art of Murder'.]
[You received 30 XP.]
Since he was at Level 10, Su Login received a total of 6 Points this time. He quickly put in 2 Points for Intelligence, Defense and Technique. His Status was still not significant, their effect was minimal.
This was currently the Status screen:
-----------------------------------------
[Su Login, 14 Years Old]
[Level: 10]
[XP: 50 / 280]
[Qi: 2,463 / 2,500]
[Race: Human | Cultivation: Celestial]
[Realm: Unavailable]
[Strength: 28 | Defense: 13]
[Agility: 10 | Qi Gain: 1]
[Intelligence: 8 | Technique: 12]
-----------------------------------------
Su Login let out a long sigh, he needed to find stronger Magical Beasts, the squirrels and swallows weren't going to help him get much XP anymore.
After checking his status, Su Login opened the Forge System. It was a screen divided into two parts: the items he could create and the items he could improve. When he gathered a few items from his inventory, he could create new weapons, clothes and potions.
The first thing the young man did was put together the three Ent's Fingers he had.
[You created 'Wooden Spear'.]
The wooden spear had a rudimentary appearance, but the tip was sharp enough to kill a Magical Beast with just one blow. But Su Login wasn't satisfied, he added the Strong Poison Vial to the Wooden Spear.
[You have created 'Poisoned Wooden Spear'.]
This System was very useful, he couldn't just rely on the items given by the Daily Login System.
Su Login looked at the group lighting another fire down below. He decided that he would rest until the next day, so he closed his eyes and began to cultivate.
***
[Congratulations, you have received 'Heavenly Emperor's Armor'.]
[Heavenly Emperor's Armor: An armor worn by the Emperor of the Heavenly Country to protect him on the battlefield, the armor protects the wearer mainly against projectiles.]
Su Login received some items related to the 'Emperor', he didn't know who this person was, but it was good that the Emperor's fighting style and his own were similar, they were both archers who fought from a distance.
He didn't want to believe that the title of God of Maidens came from that same Emperor, it would be a shame for someone so strong to be such a womanizer, but he couldn't complain about that now.
The young man put that aside and checked his Quests:
[Daily Quest: Get 100 Karma Points (0/100).]
[Side Quest: Fly 1km on the Flying Sword (0/1).]
[Main Quest: Reach Qi Condensation I Stage.]
[Local Quest: Kill 'Sage Arboreal Bull' (0/1).]
The Quest System changed after Su Login Leveled up. He was curious to know what he would get if he completed the Side Quest, but decided to focus on his Daily Quest instead. How could he do a good deed to get the Karma Points?
He couldn't attract attention, so if he was going to do something, it had to be with a few people, like the couple he had helped the day before.
For now, he would just follow the group of six people nearby before finding a smaller group... he thought about it at first, but then another thought came to mind. He could complete two quests at once.
Su Login moved a little away from the tree he was in and got on his Flying Sword. His plan was simple: he would walk around the area for a while, if he encountered any dangerous Magical Beasts, he would return and warn the group.
Flying the sword would attract more attention than jumping through the trees, but the Sly Forest Disguise would still help him if he went through the darkest parts of the forest. Su Login's plan would be perfect... if he didn't find a wooden wall in front of him.
Hey, I've never seen this in the forest before...
As soon as he placed his hand on the surface of the wooden wall, Su Login was thrown away. He landed on one side and his Flying Sword on the other.
This wooden wall was not something normal, it was probably related to the Peach Tree Ordeal or to the person who used the dark arts in the forest.
