Heavenly Opposers

"Is that all?"

Li Lun asked. All around them lay the dead bodies of beasts, the corpses disappearing from the hall after they were killed. Not even their blood was left behind. It was thanks to this function that they hadn't been overwhelmed, otherwise, the room would have long since lost any space for the two of them.

"It seems to be the case,"

Xiao spoke, the two swords in his hands dyed with blood. He had long lost count of the beasts he had slain. It had truly helped in furthering his combat ability, especially one-on-one. Li Lun looked at Xiao with a dreamy gaze, her eyes at times during battles traveling to Xiao's figure, relishing in seeing him fight, and more than that, enjoying the feeling of fighting with the person she loves.

'Her powers cannot be questioned, but she's a lot rough around the edges, she needs some polishing.'

Xiao thought as he gazed at Li Lun, who was smiling at him. During the battle, the one to improve the most was Li Lun. Her talent in battle was truly terrifying. Even when she was crippled, Xiao could tell that she had not tapped into her complete potential for battles, and with everything set right, her talents had burst forth.

Xiao felt that this trial was more for Yurou. She had never fought on her two legs, in fact, she hadn't stood up for a long time. Yet here she was, fighting and killing beasts of her same level like they were nothing. Of course, her powers came into play, but even then, the rate at which she's improving is monstrous. Right now, she hasn't gained complete control over her power, but when she does, her combat ability will boost up.

"Remarkable battle."

Suddenly, the very same voice that gave them the challenge appeared. The body is still blurry as it floats above the ground. The duo's attention moved towards the figure.

"Is the first challenge over?"

Xiao asked.

"Unfortunately, the first trial is just beginning."

As the voice said so, some kind of light flashed as it entered inside Xiao's and Li Lun's bodies.

"What I gave the two of you are the rewards for passing this round, tailored to each of your needs."

The hoarse voice spoke, its hand pointing at the two of them.

"The battle was just to get the two of you warmed up, your true trial begins at the tower of inheritors. Go forth and reach the 3rd floor."

As it finished speaking, a white light surrounded the two of them, vanishing them from where they stood. Xiao, after a long time, felt extreme spatial turbulence around him. His mind turned hazy, and he felt his body grow heavy. For a certain period of time, he couldn't even feel any Qi around him. This lasted for a minute after which his body hit solid ground.

'Uff... that wasn't pleasant at all.'

Xiao thought as he felt the solid ground below him, his body feeling a bit weak, while his mind took some time adjusting to the quick change in the atmosphere.

"Xiao, are you okay?"

Suddenly, Li Lun's worried voice was heard as he felt a body support him, his head being placed on a small soft place as his eyes now met Li Lun's beautiful amethyst ones.

"Don't you feel tired?"

Xiao asked, making Li Lun confused as she tilted her head.

"No, I feel fine."

She replied.

'Damn void and its super connection to space.'

Xiao cursed out, but he didn't say anything else as he relaxed himself on the lap pillow he was receiving. It was then that Xiao noticed something.

'Um?... the energy here is extremely pure.'

Xiao felt it. This wasn't just Qi he was feeling, but everything. The energy source around him was a mixture of several energies brought to almost purity.

'But it's weaker...'

Though everything was purely mixed, the power of the energy he was feeling was weak. Even Death Qi was in it. It was as if this energy was a resource made for everybody, such that anybody who came here wouldn't be left out. It was only a matter of one breaking up the required Qi from the bundle, but such a thing could only be accomplished by certified geniuses.

'Just where the hell are we?'

Xiao questioned himself as his eyes moved around. Looking up, all he could see was a dull black ceiling. Even the ground was black, and the room they were in wasn't even big, and all he could tell was that they were trapped there.

"Can you stop that?"

Xiao asked with an annoyed tone as his eyes traveled back to Li Lun, who was poking his cheeks. Looking into her eyes, he couldn't help but be lost in them for a moment. They seemed to be little gems shining about.

"Humph! You weren't looking at me!"

Li Lun complained like a pouty wife as she puffed up her cheeks. With her current looks, it was more than enough to melt the hearts of monsters, her grey hair complementing her beauty in an unseen way.

'Sigh... looks like a lot of problems will be lining up in front of me.'

Xiao thought as he became lost in her beauty for a moment.

"You're just breathtaking..."

Xiao complimented, making Li Lun blush brightly, her hands playing with Xiao's hair, enjoying its soft feel, while she marveled at how beautiful Xiao's hair looked. He smiled as he enjoyed her small touch of his hair, but that didn't last for long.

<Xiao, are you okay?>

Suddenly, Yurou's voice sounded in his head, causing his comfortable smile to freeze for a moment, and Li Lun, whose eyes always focused on Xiao after regaining its light, easily caught the stiffening of his smile.

"Is something wrong?"

She asked, to which Xiao shook his head.

<Xiao, are you okay?>

Once again, suddenly, Yurou's words were heard, so he responded as he waved his hand to Li Lun to indicate that he was okay.

<Yeah, I am here, I am okay, though....>

<But when I tried contacting you a day ago, I couldn't get any response. I thought something had happened.>

Yurou replied with obvious relief.

<Yeah, I was in an enlightenment, hence, you couldn't get to me.>

He spoke.

<I see, that's great!>

Yurou replied with happiness, while Xiao tried to hide his true feelings under the boundless love he was sending her. With her connection, she might be able to make out if something was wrong.

<Hehehe.... Xiao, stop it!.....>

A shy reply came back as Yurou felt the feelings of love and happiness being sent to her.

'So this is how two-timers feel when cheating.'

Xiao thought in his mind. Here in reality, close to him, a stunning girl with a loving smile was taking care of him, while he was chatting lovingly with another girl. If the two of them were to know what was happening, Xiao couldn't imagine the consequences, though he won't hide everything, for now, he wants to keep things normal until he can find a time to truly relax his mind.

'Who said two-timing felt easy?'

[Humph.... scum]

'Hey, you have no rights here'

[I protest for my right!]

'The hell? When did you get so chatty?'

<Darling?>

Feeling the loss of Xiao's love, Yurou called out, making Xiao reply back.

<Yeah, I am still here>

'Get lost!'

Xiao shouted as he focused back at Yurou, making sure that she didn't get suspicious, not like he really cared that much.
