Heaven Slaying Blade

Chapter 18: Chapter 17: The Past of the Demon Lord

When he was getting ready to catch fish by a river, he accidentally intruded into the territory of a gigantic water python.

This massive python was as thick as a bucket, two fathoms long, its scales shimmering in a ghastly blue hue. Its pair of red eyes were locked onto Chu Mo, emanating a powerful sense of killing intent.

It had half of its body coiled under the water - immovable against the force of the current. Coldly, it observed Chu Mo, seeming as though it could attack at any moment.

Chu Mo himself broke into a cold sweat, realizing what kind of creature the python was: A primordial beast!

A Fourth-Order Elemental Beast!

Chu Mo does not know many types of primordial beasts, and this python happened to be one of them.

Known as Red-eyed Cold Ice Python!

To a Demon Lord, this level of beast is nothing more than a worm, easily crushed.

But for Chu Mo, this was a terrifying creature with extremely destructive power.

The reason why Chu Mo knew about this creature was that he had witnessed such a beast when he was younger.

It was six years ago when Chu Mo was only seven years old.

Back then, Fan Wudi was guarding the border between the Great Xia and the Great Qi. Because there were no battles, he brought Chu Mo along.

In Fan Wudi's eyes, boys needed to stay in the military to grow into real men.

Not far from their base was a large river, the natural border between the Great Xia and the Great Qi.

This river was ordinarily quite peaceful and never produced anything terrifying.

But one day, a Red-eyed Cold Ice Python suddenly appeared, larger than the one Chu Mo was facing now.

Chu Mo saw this python swallow a soldier going to fetch water in the blink of an eye, which terrified him.

After it swallowed one soldier, the python, unsatisfied, charged towards them.

Seeing this, the other soldiers fled, desperately protecting Chu Mo.

Fan Wudi was furious and led his elite troops to kill the python.

Chu Mo didn't witness what happened next. He only heard about it from others later on.

The Red-eyed Cold Ice Python killed seventeen Yellow Rank first-level squad leaders and injured over thirty Yellow Rank second-level platoon leaders.

A lieutenant that had reached the Yellow Rank third level and broke through the Primordial Pass had one arm ripped off, severely injured.

Although Fan Wudi was not injured, he was exhausted after killing the python.

This was the casualty and injury count after a large number of troops surrounded and attacked the python!

Fan Wudi was the first one to charge in!

At that time, he was already a level four warrior!

Chu Mo learned that the Red-eyed Cold Ice Python's scales were extremely tough. Even with a sharp blade, you could only leave a faint mark. Warriors at level one or two could not break through its defense at all.

Once opened its mouth, it could spew a tremendous amount of cold air. Anything it touched would freeze instantly.

Then it would use its tail to whip ferociously, shattering whatever was frozen into pieces like ice cubes.

It was terrifying!

In the end, when the defeated python was dragged back, its body was all bloody and beaten. It didn't look fierce at all.

But the damages that it caused would never be forgotten by anyone who participated in that battle.

Fan Wudi had said afterwards - even if he were to reach the fifth rank and enter the Thousand Men Slaughter realm, he would still avoid this creature whenever he saw it!

The lieutenant who had lost one arm due to the severe injury was now in Yanhuang City's Fan Residence. He had become the steward of the residence.

As he lost an arm, his ability had plummeted drastically, and it was not suitable for him to stay in the army anymore.

In guilt, Fan Wudi arranged for him to be the steward of his residence, giving him a decent position.

Chu Mo had known from the moment he left the mountain that his journey home wouldn't be smooth, but he had not expected that the first primordial beast he would encounter would be a Red-eyed Cold Ice Python!

Staring at the python before him, whose eyes gleamed with a strange glow, Chu Mo forced a chuckle and said, "Hey, Brother Python, hello... Today's weather is nice, so you came out for a stroll?"

Fourth-order primordial beasts possess some level of intelligence. Although it may not be high, most can understand human language.

Ssss!

The Red-eyed Cold Ice Python hissed, and the killing intent in its red eyes intensified.

Realizing something was not right, Chu Mo made a sudden dive to the side.

Woo!

A bundle of cold air was blasted out from the Red-eyed Cold Ice Python's mouth, landing exactly where Chu Mo was standing.

After the crackling sound, the lush grass that was there before was covered in a white layer, instantly frozen!

At that moment, a gust of wind blew past, and the frozen grass made a faint crackling sound, shattering and falling to the ground, still in their frozen state!

If Chu Mo's reaction had been a bit slower, he would have been the one turned into an ice pop right now!

Chu Mo's scalp prickled as he stared at the python and protested, "Are you serious? We just happened to cross paths... Can't we coexist peacefully?"

As he spoke, Chu Mo slowly backed away.

The Red-eyed Cold Ice Python, however, had already identified him as prey and charged at him with lightning speed.

Chu Mo shouted and turned to run!

This was something even his grandfather avoided, and as a newcomer who just broke through the Primordial Pass, what capability did he have to fight it?

Valor and fervor, they need to be applicable at the right time!

At least for now, it was not time to fight desperately.

At the third level of the Primordial Pass, Chu Mo was exceptionally fast. Although the Red-eyed Cold Ice Python was a water beast, it was by no means slow on land!

In just a blink of an eye, the man and the python had already covered hundreds of yards.

...

Not far away, the girl in the blue dress was watching. Seeing the scene unfolding, she looked interested and pondered whether she should lend Chu Mo a hand.

"If I don't help him, there's an eighty or ninety percent chance... that he will die in the hands of this little snake."

"I can sense that this is related to my mission this time..."

"Oh, it's so annoying, who knows what my mission is!"

"But I can't let him die."

"Let's wait and see. If I save him now, he may not even appreciate it. Hmph, damn kid, it's good for him to suffer a bit."

The girl in blue was mumbling to herself, her eyes locked on the red-eyed Cold Ice Serpent, ready to step in at any moment.

However, she wasn't aware that in the farther void, there was another person!

The Demon Lord in black robes, his face even paler than before, was watching the scene with a cold gaze.

Although he had driven Chu Mo away, how could the Demon Lord truly rest easy letting him walk this inevitably tumultuous road alone?

From the void, the Demon Lord could feel the weakening rate of his own body...accelerating.

Originally, he was prepared to die.

Being cast into this world was equivalent to severing all his hopes!

Finding a disciple was merely due to his unwillingness to let his own lineage end with him, the Demon Lord.

But he had never hoped that his own disciple would be able to avenge him or help him in any way, even if he could, he didn't need it.

In this life, apart from the figure deep in his heart, he could say that he was unattached, without any ties.

He had never taken a disciple before, and if it weren't for the impending end, he wouldn't have even thought of it.

So... his plan was simple.

"Find a talented kid that I like, teach him what I should, then kick him out!"

"Whether he lives or dies, what's it to me?"

"As long as the lineage doesn't end with me, the Demon Lord, I won't shame my ancestors in death."

Thinking is one thing, but doing...is another thing entirely.

Unless their hearts are made of stone, how could they truly be heartless?

When Chu Mo was thrown off the mountain by him, and then ran back to kneel on the ground, the Demon Lord already understood how hard it was to let go.

So, he secretly followed Chu Mo while catching some elemental beasts to extend his life.

Death, to him, was inevitable and irreversible, a matter of a day sooner or later.

His previous plan was to pass on all his skills and, with his wish fulfilled, find a quiet place to die.

But now, having concerns, he can't be as carefree.

He wants to see Chu Mo return to Yanhuang, to see Chu Mo grow to a certain extent, and then he can completely rest assured.

That was the most sincere voice from deep within his heart!

Although he didn't want to face it, he couldn't avoid or escape it.

"Sigh..."

The Demon Lord unusually let out a sigh.

Those cold eyes looked at his own disciple, chased by the creature he considered an insect, murmured, "It seems... this thing... must be used after all."

"Butterfly, you were right. If there are concerns, you will never truly let go."

As he spoke, a small white jade bottle appeared in the palm of the Demon Lord. He opened the stopper, and a rich fragrance burst into his nose.

"The Seven-Turned Immortal Pill..."

"Back then, you sneaked into the Elixir Sect to steal it for me."

"Because of this, your family was outraged. In order to appease the Elixir Sect, those damn elders did not hesitate to destroy your mortal body, obliterating your cultivation..."

"And imprisoned your primordial spirit on the Spirit Refining Platform, subjected to the torture of divine fire day and night."

"Heh, they are really cruel...really ruthless!"

"The people of the Elixir Sect... couldn't bear to watch, said let it go, she stole the pill indeed, but she had a reason, made corresponding compensation, this matter can be let go."

"But those beasts... for a bit of resources, for their private desires, actually suppressed you!"

"My poor Butterfly..."

"They all deserve to die!"

"I deserve it more!"

The Demon Lord's handsome face twisted with pain, his eyes full of self-blame and suffering.

"And I... can't do anything!"

"I can't do anything!"

"I'm the one that deserves to die!"

"The one who should be tormented by that divine fire... should have been me!"

"I thought the Poison of Seven Killings could be cured, after being thrown into the Mortal Realm, I wanted to unravel this poison, then go to save you."

"But I underestimated this poison in the end... I overestimated myself in the end!"

"I'm a waste!"

"I can't solve this poison, I can only wait for death."

"I was ready to give up, but who would have thought, I would meet an incredibly talented boy..."

"Butterfly, he's a really outstanding child, you would definitely like him if you met him."

"Forgive my selfishness, I want to see him grow up..."

"The Seven-Turned Immortal Pill, one pill extends life by one year... Butterfly, I'm sorry, wait for me for seven more years!"

"Seven years later, when this child grows up, I will become a ghost to find you, even if I perish, I will set you free!"

As the Demon Lord spoke, a tear slid down his cheek.

Then, the Demon Lord, with trembling hands, took out the pill from the jade bottle and swallowed it.
