Chapter 8: Concept
A large bed was lying in the middle of the room; lying at the side were tables and chairs, many portraits were hanging on the walls. Pictures were moving inside paintings like living people and a large mirror hanging on the left side of the bed.
Ayaan opened his eyes wide in surprise and saw the scene in front of him. He remembered the group of four youngsters saved him; he remembered nothing about what happened after that.
'Crackle~.'
Subsequently, Ayaan heard a burning fire; he turned towards the right side, the bonfire was burning gradually. The fire was changing its colour regularly, blue to green, green to yellow, so on and so forth.
This beautiful phenomenon mesmerised Ayaan.
'Creak~.'
Suddenly, a gate of the room opened with a creaking sound. Ayaan turned around with tense faces. He saw a beautiful girl entering the room. He remembered that this girl was the one who saved him when he in the jungle and relaxed his guards.
Eventually, Ayaan thought about expressing his gratitude. But suddenly remembered that he wasn't human anymore. Who knows what they would do to him if they realise he was a talking dog? As he thought about many terrible possibilities, a shiver ran down through his body.
"Hehe, you are becoming smart, kid." a voice resounded inside his head.
"Birdy!!" He said excitedly.
(Remember, for talking to Birdy, he just needs to think, and he can speak her without speaking)
"Your luck isn't bad, kid. You could survive from such a peril," Birdy praised him, then continued, "But every time, luck won't be able to save you. So, better prepare for the future."
Ayaan rolled his eyes as he heard her lecture and turned towards the lady. When his gaze fell on her face, only one word came in his mind, 'gorgeous'. He wasn't able to see her face last time due to blur.
Now, when he saw her beautiful face, he became mesmerised by it. Noor was the only girl he felt something like this, and this girl was the second.
After entering the room, she saw the dog standing in front of the campfire. A surprised look emerged on her face because the injuries were severe, but now, however, it looks like all the wounds had disappeared in a single night.
Arriving in front of Ayaan, she hugged his small and fluffy body tightly between her two soft mounds, ''You are one weird dog. The wounds on your body already healed."
As she hugged him and a pleasant smell entered his nostrils. 'What a pleasant scent,' reflexively thought Ayaan.
Suddenly, he remembered something and rebutted himself, 'No... no! how can I think something like this about someone other than my beautiful Noor.'
Rebecca saw his cute behaviour and giggled, "How cute, hehe,"
After that, she walked out of her room while still hugging this pervert cute doggy. Wherever she passed, servants greeted her. After strolling for 15 minutes, she arrived in the training grounds.
Many people were already training there. As she arrived, their gazes turned towards her, but no one dared to disturb her.
She placed Ayaan aside and turned towards the targets set about 40 metres away, chanting a spell.
The water droplets gathered around her in the form of bullets. In the blink of an eye, ten water bullets formed.
'Whoosh~whoosh~.'
She released all the water bullets in a single shot.
'Smash!'
The targets were glass bottles, and when her attacks hit, bottles shattered one by one. Over ten bottles turned into small pieces.
Ayaan saw this with his mouth wide open. First, the spell she used wasn't the first-level which he usually uses. Second, her control over her magic was impeccable.
After hitting her target, she didn't stop but continued her training without a single hint of emotion.
She trained for an hour, finishing her training. She walked out of the training grounds, still holding the fluffy body of the dog. Arriving in her room, she went into the washroom, leaving Ayaan in the room alone.
Half an hour later, she came out of the washroom. Ayaan looked at her, praising her beauty, but chided himself at the same time 'When did I turn into a pervert? Sigh...'.
'Knock~knock~.'
The knock on the door brought him back from deep thinking. Opening the door, Rebecca saw a maid standing in a bowing position. She looked at the maid and asked with an expressionless face, " Yes?"
"Miss, city lord summoned you, he said it's imperative," a maid explained her purpose, Rebecca nodded and replied, "Inform uncle, I will be there in half an hour."
The maid went back without further talk. Rebecca didn't think much and went to meet the city lord. Twenty minutes later, she arrived in front of the same study room she came into yesterday.
Without stopping, she entered the room. In front of her, at least ten people were sitting around a massive table. At the centre was the middle-aged man she previously met. This middle-aged man was Darren miller, and he was the current city lord of the 'sun city'.
When Rebecca entered the meeting room, everyone turned towards her. They looked towards Darren in confusion; why would the city lord invite a small girl for such an important meeting? But Darren completely ignored them and asked Rebecca to take her seat.
After looking around, she walked towards the corner, sitting alone. After she took her place, the city lord turned towards everyone before speaking in a loud voice.
"As everyone knows, the banditry and robbery around the sun city have exploded. Last night, some bandits robbed one village, which is near to here. They killed the men and raped the women.
I think it won't be long before those bandits reach their hands in our sun city too." looking towards the people present, he continued, "So, tell me, are you going to stay here like cowards or fight with me to defend our city!!"
As he finished his speech, a man stood up before saying, "City Lord, you are right about defending our city, but how will we track the bandits? I also heard that the leader of the bandits is a senior mage with two elements. Only the city lord has the strength to deal with him. Don't tell me; he is going to fight him."
The name of this man was Errol Higgins and the strongest competitor for the city lord's position. In the previous selection of city lord, Darren had defeated him. Because of that, the relationship between them became bitter, and he found chances to make things difficult for him.
Darren looked at Errol smilingly before saying, "Of course, I will not fight with a bandit leader, but I have already decided the right person for that. So, you need not worry about it."
"As for your other question, I had planted a spy between the bandits, but they discovered him at the most critical moment. And when he reached me, he was already on the verge of death, but he told me the last target of bandits before taking his last breath."
Eventually, everyone in the meeting hall looked at Darren in shock. He placed a spy on bandits, what audacity. He looked at Errol and asked without a hint of emotion, "I need not give any more explanation, do I? Mr Errol."
After that, Errol Higgins didn't say a word about anything, but a meeting continued. Another man in the meeting hall questioned, "City Lord, you said, you have already decided on a person who will fight the bandit leader. Can you tell us who that person is?"
Darren tilted his head towards the room's corner before replying, "That person is already present here between you."
Everyone looked at one another, but no one had the answer. Darren replied without hiding things anymore, "The person who is going to fight with the bandit leader is Rebecca."
'Boom!'
Errol instantly hit the table with the bang before shouting, "City Lord! How can you play a joke like this when we are talking about a severe problem! You are saying, a kid is going to fight a senior mage, ridiculous!"
When everyone heard Errol's shout, they also refuted one by one.
"City Lord, it's a crucial matter. We can't take things lightly."
"Give us an explanation, city lord!"
As Darren heard their complaints, a helpless expression appeared while he thought, 'What an ignorant bunch of old foggy'. He looked helplessly at Rebecca for help. Finally, she stood up; after seeing the city lord in a difficult situation when she stood up, it attracted everyone's attention.
She chanted a spell, and small water droplets appeared around her.
When Errol saw her chanting a spell, he laughed disdainfully before saying, "A mere low-grade spell and you want to fight with a bandit….."
As he reached halfway, he choked. Because what he saw horrified him.
"Co-concept!!"
