Chapter 6: Arrogant Huan Long
When Cheng Shan was slapped by the ninth heaven palm, he didn't turn into paste, because the palm has been intercepted by the Half-step celestial.
But that didn't change the fact that his body had been completely damaged. His bones had been broken and the figure that had been standing in the sky, appeared right next to his body.
He ignored the aftermath of his palm print, and scooped Cheng Shan up from the pit in the ground.
"Interesting! This guy has just passed out from the pain and nothing else. What a strong willed guy." As Huang Long checked on Cheng Shan he couldn't help but be amazed.
At the Fourth heaven, it was good enough that he had not been crushed by the casual attack of a ninth heaven demon.
He could feel strong blood energy moving in Cheng Shan's body almost able to rival weaker seventh heaven experts.
But even so, it was shocking enough as he was just at the fourth heaven. The broken bones were not shocking, but rather just too light an injury in this situation.
The intense killing intent that had gathered on Cheng Shan was something that made him have some realization.
"Is this why master wants to accept this little guy as a disciple? But that doesn't make sense! At least from what I know of master, she wouldn't bother with anyone unless they had passed the Seventh heaven threshold."
In the battlefield, everyone was shocked by how things had evolved to this point so fast. The battlefield had turned into a place for high level legendary celestials in just a few minutes.
From the way each side was reacting, it was obviously not just something that happened as a coincidence. The higher level experts are obviously paying attention to the happenings in every corner of the battlefield.
Whether it was the region with Ninth Heaven experts or the Celestial realm, they turned their attention to this region.
The sixth heaven humans that had been watching Cheng Shan slaughter his way couldn't help but turn confused at the turn of events.
"So it is true! This battlefield is a place for those existences at the top of humanity to choose disciples?" One of the burly figures with cultivation at the sixth heaven said.
"Hehe! Do you really believe it? If you want to die faster, just commit suicide. No need to waste your time." Another sixth heaven refuted with a sneer.
"Why are you all negative! I think we can get a chance by performing well on the battlefield." A blond man also took the stand on the battlefield situation.
"Hehe! Paul right? How could it be easy to be accepted as a disciple by those existences! Fools. I heard that the oldest existence in the world only has thirteen disciples. He took his last disciple a long time to remember."
Hearing this, everyone became interested. The group had not retreated because they probably thought an opportunity was about to present itself.
Having been on the battlefield for a long time, most humans weren't fearful of death at all.
Perhaps it was the mentality after having experienced many life and death events
"Who is the oldest existence among humans?" Paul was the most interested.
"I don't know! Rumors are rumors after all. But I heard he was the on responsible for making sure the devils couldnt sneak into the human world." After having said this,he turned his attention back to the situation in the distance.
The information about some of the legendary figures among humans is not that easy to grasp. Even those that had been on the battlefield managed to get in touch with some information through rumors and stories.
Perhaps only those that had strong backgrounds could hear something from time to time.
When it came to having clear understanding, cultivation had to be high enough.
But the fact they were all still on this section of the battlefield clearly showed they had yet to gain enough power to have answers.
"Guys! I think we should slowly retreat. A battle might erupt anytime and we do not have any ability to survive the after of high level experts." It was a suggestion done our of goodwill.
How could he not see the delusion in their eyes. Some where still thinking they could attract the attention of some important people allowing them to take off.
But how could it be easy to be acknowledged by the strong.
Not everyone was crazy to go rampant like Cheng Shan. Even he wasn't doing it without reason.
He wanted to obtain more contribution points so that he could get the second part of the Dragon Elephant technique as well as essence.
But staying in the battlefield for most of them was not necessary at this point, especially when they felt the stronger auras gathering towarrd them.
Paul didn't argue, he turned into a stream of light and run off in a different direction from the places with stronger auras gathering. He wasn't indecisive as the others.
With him taking the lead, the others also started to disperse. But some remained stubborn and wanted to watch developement of events even if nothing could be gained.
With the situation having escalated this fast and to this point, only crazy fellows would dare to think of a watching a show.
***
When Cheng Shan lost his consciousness, he found himself standing in a street, and comparing his current situation with the last memories, they just didn't match.
It was slightly different from battlefield he was, as the streets were filled with humans activities and no sing of battle.
The humans in this place didn't seem to see him. He looked around and frowned, just as he took a step forward, he stopped. He felt as though something was watching him from the shadows.
"Did I just die from that attack!" He had not forgotten what had just happened. But his eyes didn't change even aftwr having this thought. Clearly the practice of the finger technique had changed him completely to a different person over this period of one year.
Everytime he killed others and his spirit improved this became even more obvious. In the battle he had been involved the gains where not small, but even so, he couldn't resist a casual attack from a demon at the ninth heaven.
That was enough to just how massive the difference between each heaven was.
But with his mind focused on the old man sitting at the side of the road. He had a feeling he was the one observing him, and he approached.
"Young people nowadays are fearless! What are you doing in this place? Don't you know that this is not a place for the living?" The old man finally couldn't help it after seeing how he didn't leave.
"Aren't you alive and well old man! Why can't I come in this place?" He asked as he walked even closer setting his eyes on the booklets on the table before the man.
"Are you interested in any of this? What are you willing to pay?" The old man didn't bother much about what Cheng Shan had to say, rather he just looked over and asked.
But to his disappointment, Cheng Shan didn't even continue looking at that books. He just turned his head, looking around the streets suspiciously.
"What is this place?" He asked the old man.
"Why should I tell you?" The stubborn old man asked back.
"Indeed! Why should you?" Cheng Shan didn't seem bothered by this reply.
He then heard a calling, surprisingly, he was able to feel that he would be able to go back by listening to the calling.
He just said, "Well! It's time for me to leave."
The old man had yet to reply when the figure turned vague and vanished.
"Huh! How did that brat do it? Someone else might have pulled him out using some tricks. Interesting! Here I thought the situation or the world was no longer the same."
Left alone the old man complained before the place was overcome by silence once again.
Back to the outside world, Huang Long that had picked up Cheng Shan rise to the sky. He kept looking in the distance towards that celestial realm demon that had halted his approach.
He had a regretful expression as though he had just missed on something. But he didn't bother to continue observing, as he turned to look in another direction.
"Master! This task you gave me is no different from seeking death. Besides, how can you take me for a delivery boy? How I'm I supposed to retreat in this situation?" He complained silently.
But even as he did, his arms were already holding onto a small scroll on his left hand.
He wiped his fingers across the scroll before slapping it towards Cheng Shan. Cheng Shan's figure shrank until becoming the size of a small doll, and completely vabishing.
Only the scroll was left in his hand, and he casually put it away as though it wasn't a huge deal.
"What is up? I thought you had something to say to me?" Huang Long didn't forget to talk in a cocky manner, as he checked for his retreat route.
His goal was obviously to make sure he sent Cheng Shan back so as not to affect his master's plans.
