Chapter 243. Seragun plane 1.
Meanwhile, news of what Kailen had set out to do spread to every nook and cranny of the alchemy department.
Several students were waiting for him to make a fool of himself. It wasn't that they were snobbish or thought lowly of Kailen.
The mission he had selected was an impossible one.
This was a berserk-level mission. This meant that it was impossible and had a high fatality rate if care was not taken.
Some senior students even started placing bets on him to see how long it would take before he gave up on the mission, or even died.
In one of the regions of the academy, a feminine instructor could be seen seated in a large hall in luxurious house robes in a carefree manner, a smirk that spoke volumes of bad news playing at the edge of her lips. Her eyes, equally sparkling with ruthlessness.
The mission Kailen had received obviously warranted he would have to head to that place — the Seragun plane, one of the most daunting regions of the academy, fraught with all sorts of dangers.
"So he is heading out huh. Perfect place for those students to get rid of him."
This person was, of course, Enna Harker.
Quickly she sent a message to a couple of senior students from the Harker Family, informing them of Kailen's decision to leave the academy.
"A pity though. I like him, we could have been good friends, but alas. He just had to bark up the wrong tree."
She sighed, sincerely sad about Kailen's set-in-stone demise, shrugged, then took a sip of the shake on the table.
After that, she lay her back comfortably on the armchair, obviously in a very good mood.
"Ah, that's the life."
Kailen was completely oblivious to the commotion he had caused.
Not that he would have cared in the first place even if he knew about it.
Currently, he was heading towards a planet in the academy via a teleportation gate towards a particular location.
"The key herb that can help me make the Talent Enhancing Pill, which would help the person in that condition break through to the Ascendant level, is found in the Seragun plane.
According to the details of the Seragun plane, it's fraught with unimaginable danger, so much so that this accounts for half of the reason why the mission is a berserk mission. About 90 percent of rank 1 alchemists who have taken on this mission in the past have ended up dying in the Seragun plane.
Well, if anything untoward happens, I can just use Umbral Replacement and escape."
Passing through the teleportation gate, Kailen appeared at a completely different region.
He floated several meters away from what seemed to be a completely flat land stretching infinitely for as far as the eyes could see.
Even with the use of Elemental Mirroring, Shadow Sense, alongside his own perception, Kailen could still not see the end of the plane, the plane being several times larger than Earth.
Above him hung three large suns sprawled across the reddish skies like canvases, bathing all beneath them in intense heat.
Kailen felt an ominous sensation crawl up his spine.
However, he couldn't pinpoint what was really wrong.
He hadn't seen any diabolic beasts in the territories his Shadow Sense, perception, and Elemental Mirroring had covered, yet the ominous feeling lingered.
"This place seems more dangerous than the information in the echo brochures I read.
I have to be extremely careful."
Quickly, Kailen activated his Shadow Armored Form, and stepped on the flat plane.
The moment he did that, as if the suns had sensed his arrival, waves of scorching heat descended on him.
Kailen was not too surprised by this. He had read about this place on his way here after all.
However, even with his Shadow Armored Form — having utilized almost all his shadow creatures — the intense heat still bore down on him, causing him to grit his teeth.
Several parts of the armor almost cracked, only to be reinforced again.
Having turned into a streak of light, moving at profound speed, Kailen gritted his teeth due to the intense heat and muttered,
"This place is extremely hot. The worst part is that I have no idea where to find the Solar Achelum herb.
Anyway, I need to deal with the bastards who have been concealing themselves, following me since I left the alchemy department. They are probably senior students, judging by the rank 5 intermediate stage Ascendant level auras radiating from the three of them. Plus, new students may not have the resources to buy their battlesuits."
Kailen suddenly turned around and stopped moving, hovering in the air.
"You can come out now."
His voice, cold, was directed towards a particular direction.
Three figures suddenly materialised before him.
One was extremely short, a gnome — obviously recruited by the Harkers — clad in a deep blue battlesuit.
The remaining two were humans, identical-looking, one clad in white and the other in a black battlesuit.
One was male, the other a female — twins.
Kailen scanned them in a brief second with a nonchalant expression.
If he couldn't handle them, he'd just use Umbral Replacement and teleport back to his villa, as he had left a shadow creature there for such emergencies.
"Ho, your reputation precedes you indeed, Darkhaven," the gnome was the first person to speak, his voice full of raw palpable killing intent.
The female of the group voiced, "Let's get this over with. Enough with the trash talk."
Kailen couldn't help but chuckle inwardly.
"Finally, someone who doesn't revel in trash talk, huh."
The twin brother of the female in the group chuckled, his gaze full of ominous intent directed towards Kailen.
"Never one for many words, err, sister?"
The gnome, although annoyed at being cut off, remained silent.
It was obvious that he was the simp of the trio from this short interaction.
Twin daggers materialised in the hands of the twins, pulsing with black ominous liquid energy.
As for the gnome, a pen pulsing with an iridescent glow suddenly appeared before him.
He held the pen and started drawing in the air.
In the span of a few seconds, several ginormous rocs spawned from his drawings.
Several wind currents flickered around them.
Kailen observed the trio calmly.
All this took a while to describe, yet it occurred in the span of a few seconds.
Finally, he could test the limits of his Asura Enlightenment Physique used with his Shadow Armored Form at the same time.
