HDXD: Omni Harem System

Chapter 180: Parley

The throne room was quiet again, save for the soft, distant crackle of Adam's hovering crown, its monstrous energy humming like divine engine. He leaned back into the cold stone seat, legs sprawled, fingers drumming idly against the armrest.

As he began to hear footsteps approaching.

Opening his eyes, he saw that Berreta returned.

Her presence entered the chamber before her voice did.

Right after, she stopped before the throne and gave a slow, respectful bow, and gave Adam his proper greetings.

"My king… I've brought them."

Adam glanced down lazily from the throne, as he replied.

"Oh? And where are they?"

Berreta didn't respond with words. Instead, she raised a hand and gave a single, almost casual clap, the sound echoing through the room.

The great doors of the throne room groaned in protest as they slowly creaked open, the heavy wood seeming to resist the inevitable.

A moment later, the doors parted fully, and through them, two figures emerged, each with a distinct aura around them.

Ollustis, the former Queen, entered first. And right after the clearly mutated Sidhe, followed next.

The queen had dark skin, and curly crimson red hair. Around her body was cloak that hide her natrual marking, it was old and tattered, and ultimately it was just something Berreta gave to her so she could cover her body properly upon meeting Adam.

Currently she was flying towards Berreta, and the moment she did, she looked at the unfamiliar person sitting on the throne.

Unlike Alustus who was small the throne might as well be a large building to him.

Adam in his normal human form filled it more appropriately.

At that moment, the Queen's blazing orange eyes, set against her pink sclera, locked onto Adam's golden, snake-like gaze, his abyss-black sclera making them burn all the more intensely

"So this is the person that killed Alustus, but isn't he just kid, was Alustus Sidhe really beaten by a some unknown kid?!"

She said in a weak voice, more so for Albedo to hear, her much taller frame dwarfing her into her shadow.

"T-This guy is dangerous your majesty... The sheer amount of Astrum he has is no joke, it dwarf mines atleast 400× times over."

"So he is magic user?!"

Ollustis asked. To which Albedo began to nod her head.

"It would seem so, magic users are rare to come across you know given magic is something not every person has the right condition for."

"Hmmm is it me, or doesn't he feels like us. Of the same race I mean?!"

"Yeah I do feel like he is a Sidhe, but at the same time not really!?"

"Quiet you two, you are before King Adam, be silence in his presence."

Berreta ordered, which caused both Ollustis and Albedo to shut their mouths.

In that same moment of course Berreta kneeled, prompting for the two to do so as well, as such they followed suit as Berreta said.

"We greet your your royal majesty."

"Ah, we greet the king."

Ollustis followed behind then, Albedo.

"Greetings to the king of the Sidhe."

Albedo murmured quietly, but loud enough for Adam to hear. In that moment quiet filled the room again, as Adam began to analyze to two woman before him.

As such he gave his orders.

"You can raise your heads now, we are on a strict timing.... So tell me, why do you both seek parley with me."

"My Lord, my name is Albedo, I know this might sound selfish of me, but I beg of you to please forfeit the throne...

"Stop it Albedo... Just stop it."

Ollustis quickly stop Albedo from finishing her statement, her loyalty to her blinding her from the obvious danger this man holds.

Alustus alone was monsterous, and this kid somehow managed to slay him.

"But your highness our people can...

But queen Ollustis just shook her head, as she approaches closer.

"King Adam, is that right my Lord?!"

Ollustis spoke, casually attempting to engage in proper conversation. Her voice was weak, and her stance unsure, but she wanted to talk to Adam no matter what.

No... she needed to.

She had long accepted that her place as queen had come to an end.

Seeing this, Adam folded both arms and leaned forward, a charismatic smile on his face.

"That's right."

Adam said coolly, folding his arms as he leaned forward, his golden, serpent-like eyes glinting with dangerous amusement.

"Your traditions are simple is not? Whoever slays the ruler takes the crown. And that is exactly what I did."

He smirked, clearly proud with himself.

"So yes, Ollustis... I am your king now. The name is Adam if your wondering about my great self. But... don't be fooled by the childlike form, I am far older in thought than I look in physical appearance, and even more wiser than normal. And much, much deadlier."

Ollustis lowered her gaze for a brief moment, her voice soft.

"Yes... you don't need to remind me. But if I may be bold, I came to make a request."

"A request, hmm?"

Adam raised an eyebrow, his interest piqued.

"Very well. Speak."

"Wait—really?"

Ollustis blinked, genuinely surprised by his swift acceptance.

Adam gave a dark chuckle.

"I am king of the Sidhe, am I not? A king listens to his people. I won't grant every wish, but...

He paused, resting his chin on one hand, his voice turning cold.

" ...Since I'm in a good mood, I'll hear you out. But don't mistake my patience for mercy."

His gaze hardened.

"I give freely... but I can easily take tenfold's back. Am I clear?"

As he spoke, a wave of pure menacing aura rolled off his body, the natural dread-inducing Aura of the Archane finally in use.

Violet energy flared around his form, distorting the air with its paranoid inducing pressure. The very presence of it dug into their minds like icy claws, filling their chests with weightless fear, their hearts thudding in silent terror.

The room fell into a breathless stillness.

But the message was sent loud and clear.

"I understand."

Ollustis said, causing Adam to suddenly drop his aura, brining normality back in the surrounding.

THUDDD!!

Albedo drop to the floor, her body trembling with primitive fear, as she whispered to herself.

"...W-What was that!?"

"...I-I....yeehee...

She screamed, as just the memory alone was enough to unravel her. Panic surged through her body as she clutched her head, trembling violently. Madness clawed at the edges of her mind, threatening to pull her under again.

Meanwhile, Ollustis remained composed, unnaturally calm in the oppressive atmosphere. Unlike the others, she had long adapted to emotional warfare of this level. Her unique nature, shaped by her own powers tied to the emotional spectrum, granted her a passive resistance to the Archane's Aura of Dread.

Naturally Adam's presence still pressed down like a mountain, but she endured it.

But Albedo was given no such ease, unlike Ollustis she had to take the full brunt of it.

Albedo, however, had no such protection.

Unlike Ollustis, she was forced to take the full brunt of Adam's soul-crushing aura. Her body trembled, her will buckling under the weight of his malevolent energy.

But her suffering was not relevant here.

This moment belonged to the queen.

Adam, indifferent to the quivering fairy beside her, refocused his cold golden gaze on Ollustis. His voice cut through the silence, low and commanding.

"Now then, woman. Speak. What is it that you want? Ask and I may just grant it."

Ollustis swallowed hard. Her voice wavered, but she forced herself to speak.

"I... I want freedom....

"Freedom you say?!"

Said Adam out a loud, his expression neutral but mostly disinterested.

The queen knew that was too vague, as such she needed to be more detail when she talks to avoid misunderstanding.

"Cough! Cough! Not my queendom your majesty, I know that is long gone now, I know perfectly well that there is no reclaiming it. But I still hold deep knowledge of my people. I know our customs, our secrets, our evolution paths. You may be powerful… but you're not one of us. And without guidance, your reign will only scratch the surface of what we can become under the guide of reliable leader."

Right after... She paused, then bowed her head.

"So I come not as a queen… but as a servant offering her worth. Give me a high position my king, let me be useful to you. I know it is selfish of me to ask, considering we've only just met. But I need a place where I can truly operate at my best. Only then can you see the full extent of what I offer."

Ollustis said boldly, offering all she knows.

"So... you're offering your knowledge in exchange for my highest hospitality? Is that it, or am I mistaken?"

"Yes, nothing more."

Ollustis replied softly.

"Of course, the final decision is yours."

She didn't plead or grovel, her dignity, though cracked, was still intact. But she was no fool. Her power was gone, her title meant nothing now, and her survival depended on making herself valuable to the one who now ruled everything she had once held dear.

She wasn't trying to reclaim the throne. She simply wanted a place beside it, to her it was the second best thing.

Adam leaned back, resting his chin on his hand as he studied her. It didn't take long for him to come to a decision.

After mentally listing the pros and cons.

"Very well."

He said.

"From this moment on, you'll hold the title of Duchess."

Ollustis gave a small, quiet nod, hiding her relief well.

"Your knight, Albedo, was it? Hmmm...she'll serve under you. I am appointing her as your personal body guard, and Royal Knight. She'll also carry the title of Countess."

He cooley said, only coldly continued.

"But don't mistake this for charity. Nothing here comes without a cost."

He sat up straighter, eyes narrowing.

"I want order. You're to assemble a team of your choosing and give me a report by day's end. I want a full breakdown of all the races currently under my rule."

He flicked his fingers in the air, dismissive yet commanding.

"And send out an announcement through the castle's speakers. Let them know Duchess Ollustis is recruiting. Make it clear you're acting under my authority. Understood?"

Ollustis just bowed her head lower, and answered while floating in the air.

"As you wish my king."

"Good, now Berreta you can take them to a more fancier room or something, let them clean themselves up, and rest."

"Of course my Lord."

Berreta replied, as she picked up the still trembling Countess, and signal for Ollustis to follow her.

At this point everyone left the throne room.

Leaving Adam to himself.

"Hmmm, I think I am getting use to this king thing, now I just wait till Berreta come back so I can announce my official rule to everyone."
