HDXD: Omni Harem System

Chapter 178: Freya

The throne room was dark and silent. In that stillness, Adam returned to the future, slowly opening his eyes.

"Haa!?"

He groaned as his vision adjusted, and the first thing to greet him wasn't light, rather it was a flood of different and recent memories.

The gap between the moment he left and arrived here began to fill itself.

And the cascade of recollections filled with the consequences of altering the past… all came rushing in, one by one.

These were the effects, the memories of the rewritten outcomes born from the cause he had imposed by killing Alustus in the past.

The information hit his brain all at once, a tidal wave of data, memories, and experience, but weirdly enough, it didn't hurt.

It was like waking up from a dream that felt too real. One second he was in the thick of it, the next he was just... here.

Processing everything, and as calm ever.

Adam leaned back with a soft sigh, both eyes half-lidded as he took in his surroundings.

"Man... all that really happened, huh?"

He muttered to himself, his voice low, but also amused, as he place his hand into a knuckle to support his cheek as he lean into it and began to ponder.

"And now I am the King of the Sidhe? Heh... talk about a fast-track promotion."

He chuckled, not out of disbelief, but more like someone realizing life had just handed them the weirdest bonus imaginable.

He was sitting on the Throne that many king, even before Alustus once sat upon, but now in his original form, the real him, instead of his more mature looking Sidhe form.

On his head floated a newly formed regulator crown, a sleek and more advanced version crafted from his Monster Energy.

It hovered just above his skull like some kind of demonic halo, crackling softly with restrained power.

His black wings flexed behind him, still intact, still fluttering lazily like they were bored waiting for him to move.

Below the neck, his bio-exoskeleton stayed active, skin-tight and well form around his body, forming a natural armor that protected him.

He didn't look like much at first glance, young, even childlike, but that didn't matter.

His power and feats spoke loudly, no one but the king could sit upon this throne after all.

"...Still."

Adam muttered, thinking about the real reason he wanted to return to the castle. Originally, he had planned to give up on it, he had more those things out there.

That was why he had no problem nuking the fuck out of this place.

But since Alustus manage to save this place, when he planned to kill him, and everyone in it at the time.

He now could resume searching for it.

His eyes drifted toward the far wall, gaze unfocused but thoughtful.

"The System did say this place had two of my DLC items, right? I already found one back in the meat storage... so where is the other?"

Then it hit him.

His brows lifted slightly.

"Wait a sec...duhhhh."

He said realizing there was an easier way to go about this, a smirk forming at the thought.

"Why am I sitting here guessing like an idiot?"

He straightened a bit, wings twitching lightly.

"I could just ask the System, she would definitely tell me."

"...Hey System, mind telling me what my next DLC item is?"

『I have no problem in doing so Master, but I think your forgetting something』

"Hmmm am "

『Hmm meany... tshhh never mind, it wasn't important anyways, but yeah your DL...

"Freya!"

『Ha』

The system asked, rather suprise by Adam sudden call of a random name.

"Freya, that your name, hehehe... I was just fucking with you, woman. Of course I remember our promise, and I chose Freya for your name, back in my world, it was name of the Norse goddess of love and war."

『Fre-ya』

The system repeated the name, as if savouring it's pronunciation.

『Freya...Freya...Yes my name is Freya...Hahaha... A wonderful name indeed my Master, I will treasure it for the rest of my life』

"I am glad you like it? Now then, I believe you owe me an explanation Freya."

『Oh, yeah, my bad! I was just so happy to finally get a new name. So, basically, your second DLC item is called the Tír na nÓg. And to be honest, the only way you would have ever get this DLC was by killing Alustus. Since you already did that, the DLC item is literally already under your control』

The System explained in a casual but happy tone.

However, the information only confused Adam more.

"The Tír na nÓg the fuck is that, I have never heard of such a DLC in my life, you sure it is mine?"

『I am positive, Master. This DLC is, in actuality, this castle itself. It's a magical fortress powered by high-level elemental spirits. Because of that, it can use various forms of magic coded into its central core, since the castle is technically a living thing. If you go deeper inside, you'll see the different captured spirits powering it like batteries. Of course, in the original game, Aos Land, the mechanics and lore were different. But to fit this AU, the power source is now spirits』

Said Freya.

As Adam responded with nod, as he understood why he was not aware of this DLC at first glance.

"Ah, Aos Land. No wonder I don't remember where this DLC came from. I think I bought this visual novel, alongside four extra DLC's that where on sale at the time... For the extra route's that where not part of the original game."

"But that was around the same time HDXD came out, and I completely forgot this game even existed. I don't even remember what it was about since it been years since I last bought it and read it synopsis. And even then, I just bought it because the girl were fucking hot in that game if I had to be honest."

Adam said out aloud as he began to ponder about the past.

It brought a smile to his face remembering the good times.

But that aside, despite not knowing what the game was about since he had an item from said game.

He need to figure out more about it, as such he asked Freya.

"So what can you tell me about the Tír na nÓg?"

『Well for one this castle originally belonged to the King of the Dionyis, Lord Aos. Ohh base off new information I have also learned that in this AU, the Dionyis are now the Sidhe race. Alustus killed the original king, Aos Dionyis, who created this place. Also only those with royal blood can use it. However, since that backstory only exists to justify this DLC item's existence, you are now its rightful owner. The castle can also change its appearance to match the user's will, and preference, assuming they have enough energy to sustain the chain. For scale, this current look is its default form. Once, the original king Alustus made it as large as a medium-sized planet and managed to maintain that size for roughly twelve minutes before running out of juice』

"Ohh damn… anything else?"

Adam said out aloud, suprise by it capabilities, as such he asked what else it could do.

And Freya was more than happy to explain.

『It has a lot of magical features, actually. For instance, there is spell called Eden. This spell basically makes a magical tree that can bring the dead back to life. The spell is constant and passive. As long as the king or ruler has marked your soul with one of Edens branches, the spell can resurrect you without fail, given it provided with enough Astrum to maintain constant ressurection of the dead』

『It also has spatial magic for teleportation, distortion, and levitation, and multiple offensive spells, the weakest can total an entire village, and the strongest spell called Poseidon can destroy a star. There is also various support magic spells to create golems, control temperature, freeze or heat up stuff for various purpose, detect intruders, record data, analyze things, and a whole bunch of cool shit, too much to label without taking 8 hours of my time to go into proper detail』

The information relayed to Adam regarding Tír na nÓg could, by all metrics, be considered the absolute minimum.

Not in the sense that it was lacking, rather, it was intentionally curated.

Just enough to convey function, yet vague enough to prevent a full understanding of the artifact's true significance.

Of course, Adam lacked the interest or patience to reflect on such subtleties at this particular moment.

But his thought stop on fact he was glad that never came to be if Alustus didn't sheild the castle from his last attack.

"Man... thank God I fail to blow this thing up. Hell of a convenient DLC item, hahaha…

He laughed aloud.

And the sound of it echoed across the grand stone hall.

But it was during this time of triumphant laughter that a voice, delicate, yet solemn, echoed from beyond the grand double doors.

"My king."

Someone said, calling out to Adam who sat upon the grand Throne.

The words carried sorrow, though tempered by loyalty. The speaker did not waver in tone, despite the weight of grief barely veiled beneath her courteous inflection.

"I have returned with news. I have informed all those who were entitled to know… of my husband's demise by your hand. Though it came as a great shock, tradition stands firm. You are now King of the Sidhe, as well as the new ruler of the various monster clans formerly bound to Lord Alustus, either by contract or conquest."

A figure approached, her skin the shade of dark rubies, her eyes heavy yet unbroken.

She moved with precision approaching the throne, and when she was closed enough, her posture began to shorten, and without hesitation, she knelt before Adam.

The expression on Adam's face was unreadable upon her arrival, as he was mostly analyzing her from where he sat.

But soon that change, as proceed to speak.

His tone casual, almost dismissively.

"Oh? Berreta. You move fast. Good… good."

He said to the kneeling halfbreed.

"I live to serve, my king my master."

She replied, her head bowed low.

"That said, I recommend holding a formal audience within the next thirty minutes to announce your ascension. The arena has already been prepared. The Sidhe, among the other races are also taking seat."

"Additionally, several prisoners have requested immediate audience. Whether you choose to entertain them is your prerogative."

Adam nodded slightly, tapping one finger along the armrest of the throne.

"Very well. I'll appear at the scheduled time. But… you said prisoners?"

A faint hesitation.

And Adam notice through her desire to not explain.

But Berreta's did so anyway, as she explained the two who truly matter here.

"Yes. Before Lord Alustus's rise, the Sidhe were ruled by another sovereign. But during his campaign for dominion, he systematically executed all of the former king's offspring, save for the queen, and her most loyal knight Lady Albedo."

"And that very knight is now requesting parley with you."

There was no visible change in Adam's demeanor when he heard this, though internally, the gears of calculation turned.

'So, a surviving queen and her elite guard wants to talk to me eh?! Hmph... What to do? What to do?!'

He thought to himself, thinking that it may be dangerous, if not annoying of the queen start asking for her throne back.

Adam did not view himself as fragile.

He had, after all, slain the prior ruler to attain this position. But authority gained through battle was not yet solidified. Authority must be demonstrated, and cemented even.

Although the people's of this castle knows of Alustus death, he need to demonstrate his power to also ensure why he became king to begin with.

Coup d'etat were a common thing.

And he doesn't need the former queen to plot behind his back.

But as he sat there and think about the pro's and con of having a former queen by his side.

The answer became clear.

For a moment the pro's outweighed the cons as he said.

'They may serve. Or they may resist. If they submit, all the better. If not…

He recalled a particular ability, the power of his Dominator...with it, obedience is all but assured.

No need to waste useful assets. Assimilate or annihilate, the result is the same.

Adam's lips curled into a small, quiet smile.

Coming to rather quick decision, and if it was the wrong one he would just mind wip the two and make new personalities out of them to better fit his needs while also keeping their usefulness.

As such he replied to Berreta...saying.

"I see. Inform Lady Albedo that her request for parley has been accepted. We have time to spare. Bring her and the queen before me."

Berreta's head rose slightly.

Her expression was unreadable. But with one hand to her chest, she bowed once more.

Showing her respect to Adam station, and said.

"As you command, my liege. If you will pardon me, I shall prepare the prisoners."

With fluid motion, she stood and exited the throne chamber, her steps silent, her presence diminishing into the corridor.

The silence left in her wake was comfortable, at least to Adam. He leaned further into the throne, speaking aloud to no one in particular.

"Tch… she hates me. Hahaha…

His laugh was soft, almost idle.

"Not that I blame her. I killed her husband. Still, loyalty is loyalty. And with her true name bound to me, she has no room to act otherwise."

"What amuses me though is how little she bothers to hide it. Hmph. In time, she'll learn, Alustus that loser, was never worth following. I am clearly the better choice. She just doesn't know it yet."

As those final words settled into the chamber, Adam's senses suddenly sharpened. A ripple in space appeared before the throne, causing a portal coalescing from pure space Astrum.

Adam narrowed his eyes at the sight.

The distortion solidified, and a figure emerged.

Her grey skin shimmering slightly by the portal light, as she began to speak to Adam.

"I must say… you look good on a throne, boy."

It admitted, then continued.

"But all that aside, I am proud. You succeeded in your mission. That bastard was quite the threat. Not bad at all... though I always knew you would pull through."

Adam did not rise.

In that moment

He only smirked, and said back to her.

"Minerva. Took you long enough."

Adam said, greetings his big sis and future mate.

Seeing her Adam smiled, as tap his lap.

"Minervaaaa... Hahahaaa, take you long enough to congratulate me don't you think, still come sit with me, sadly I don't have enough space, but my lap is available cough, cough."
