Chapter 133: Chapter 133: Returning to School
"Link, are you sure you want to go alone?" Looking at Link, who was already fully dressed and standing in front of the fireplace, Madam Flamel said.
For Madam Flamel, sending Link to school was a very important matter, and also an opportunity to deepen her relationship with Link.
But today, Link suddenly said he wanted to go to Hogwarts alone, which made her quite dissatisfied.
"I'm already this big, it's time for me to go to school alone. You're not thinking of raising me to be like Draco, right?" Link stepped forward and hugged Madam Flamel and said, "Alright, don't be sad. I'm still carrying the two-way mirror, once I arrive at Hogwarts I'll contact you."
Upon hearing this, Madam Flamel could only nod helplessly and let it go.
Link then smiled, took out a handful of Floo Powder, and stepped into the fireplace.
Whoosh!
Accompanied by a burst of green flames from within the fireplace, Link's figure disappeared into the flames.
And when he set foot on solid ground again, he was already inside a small room at King's Cross Station.
Inside the room stood two Aurors wearing long trench coats. They were sent by the Ministry of Magic to maintain order and prevent Muggles from discovering the rush of students returning to Hogwarts.
When they saw Link standing in the fireplace, staring at them wide-eyed, they came forward from left and right and lifted him out.
"Kid, don't block the way, others need to come out too."
Hearing this, Link turned around and saw a flash of light in the fireplace, and another child appeared.
But this child looked even more dazed than Link and had no intention of coming out.
Seeing this, the two Aurors exchanged a glance and once again helplessly stepped forward.
Link, now left alone, wasn't annoyed. He smiled and said "Thanks for your hard work" to the Aurors, then walked alone through the illusion wall, and boarded the Hogwarts Express from Platform Nine and Three-Quarters.
Because many students had chosen to stay at Hogwarts for Christmas, compared to the start of term, the Hogwarts Express was now a bit emptier.
These students instinctively gathered together in groups, each with a solemn expression, as if the place they were heading to wasn't their beloved Hogwarts, but a battlefield.
At first, Link thought this was because of him, after all, he was now under suspicion of being the Slytherin heir. It was normal for the other students to react like this when they saw him.
But he soon realized things weren't that simple. Because apart from the Slytherins, students from other houses greeted Link with smiles, and their friendliness was even better than when they were previously at Hogwarts.
This clearly wasn't the attitude people should have towards a suspected Slytherin heir, especially since among those greeting him were Muggle-born students.
Just as Link sat down in the Hufflepuff carriage with a face full of confusion, a big hand, right on time, landed on his shoulder.
"Merry Christmas, Link."
Cedric smiled and sat across from Link, who nodded and replied, "Merry Christmas to you too, Cedric."
After exchanging pleasantries, Link didn't bother being polite with Cedric and directly pointed to the surrounding Hufflepuffs, who had solemn expressions, and said, "What's up with them?"
Hearing this, a trace of seriousness also flashed across Cedric's face.
He poked his head out and looked around. Seeing that no one was paying attention here, he closed the compartment door.
"Link, you don't know yet? During Christmas, the Slytherin heir launched another attack." Cedric leaned close to Link and lowered his voice.
Upon hearing this, Link immediately sprang up and said, "Who was attacked? Are they dead?"
Cedric quickly pressed down the agitated Link and made a gesture to speak more quietly.
Actually, one couldn't blame Link for being too emotional.
Hermione and John had chosen to stay at Hogwarts for Christmas. If any of them had been attacked by the basilisk, Arkam, it would've been something Link couldn't accept.
Because all the Mandrake Draught in his hands had already been used up, and he hadn't bought new Mandrakes on this trip home. This meant that anyone petrified would have to wait until Professor Sprout's Mandrakes matured.
As for being killed by the basilisk, that would be even worse.
After a while, once Link had calmed down again, a smile finally returned to Cedric's face as he said, "Relax, I know what you're worried about. John and Hermione are both fine. The one attacked this time was a girl named Lavender Brown. She didn't die, she was just petrified."
After saying that, Cedric suddenly realized that it wasn't very nice to sound so happy about this, and quickly put away his smile.
Link wasn't as kind as him. Upon hearing this, he let out a sigh of relief and collapsed into his seat.
Cedric silently mourned for Lavender for a moment, then leaned in again and said, "Don't worry, Link. I believe that with Dumbledore around, we'll all be safe, and the heir will be caught soon. Besides, this incident is actually a good thing for you, you were at home, so it's a perfect alibi."
After saying that, Cedric even patted Link's back with a smile and started asking about the magic snow globe he had gifted him.
Link responded half-heartedly, his expression still tense.
Cedric and the others were still too naive, only they would think that this alibi was useful.
For Link, who knew the truth about the basilisk, and Dumbledore and the others, this didn't prove anything, because Link could completely use Parseltongue to set the basilisk's attack time in advance.
But these things weren't something Link could explain to Cedric and the others.
The two of them chatted like this until they arrived at Hogwarts.
"All right, hurry off the train, Dumbledore is already waiting for you in the Great Hall!"
At the Thestral carriage stop outside the castle, Professor Kettleburn was still directing "parking order" as usual. Link noticed he had a few new fresh wounds on his face, and judging by their size, they were likely Norbert's doing.
After briefly greeting Professor Kettleburn, Link followed most of the group back into the Great Hall.
Although Christmas had already passed, Hogwarts still held a sizeable feast to welcome the returning students.
In normal times, this would've been a lively celebration, because after tonight, everyone would have to go back to facing homework and classes.
But this year, because of the heir, everyone was extremely restrained, and very distant toward the students who had stayed at school. This made the entire banquet feel very gloomy.
Link wasn't in a good mood either. After quickly finishing dinner, he was the first to excuse himself and leave.
But to his surprise, just as he stepped out of the Great Hall, Harry and Ron blocked his way.
"What is it?"
Link rubbed his temples and asked. Sitting all day on the train had made his body feel uncomfortable.
Harry, across from him, exchanged glances with Ron, then gritted his teeth and said:
"Link, we already know who the heir is!"
