Harry Potter: Transmigrated Detective Link

Chapter 112: Chapter 112: Red Cap

Just as Lockhart finished speaking, Filch laboriously dragged a box into the classroom.

This box was as tall as half a person, and as Filch dragged it, various strange noises occasionally came from within, as if there were some kind of living creature inside.

Its appearance instantly drew everyone's attention below the platform.

"Professor Lockhart, I've brought what you asked for!" Filch moved the box in front of Lockhart, then spoke while panting heavily. As he spoke, his face was full of a fawning smile.

Unfortunately, Lockhart didn't have much reaction to his flattery, he merely waved his hand to signal him to leave quickly.

This made Filch's smile freeze for a moment, but he ultimately still wiped his sweat, limped, and walked out of the classroom.

"Students, I know that you might have heard some terrible rumors about me before, but what I want to say is, those are all fake news!"

Lockhart stood on top of the trembling box and said with a smile, "Next, I will show you an extremely ferocious creature. They have slaughtered countless beings, their hands stained with fresh blood. But don't worry, with me here, you are absolutely safe."

As soon as he finished speaking, Lockhart stepped aside and suddenly waved the wand in his hand.

Click!

The latch on the box was unlocked.

At first, the large box became eerily quiet for a moment, and then it was suddenly flipped open. A small humanoid creature appeared before everyone's eyes.

This creature was only about one meter tall. Its appearance and form were very similar to a goblin, but everyone present knew this wasn't a goblin.

Because whether it was its full mouth of yellow, rough fangs, the uneven scars all over its body, or the cruel gleam in its murky eyes, it all proved that this was a creature even more brutal than a goblin!

When he first saw the creature, Link was also startled. Its appearance involuntarily reminded him of goblins from fantasy worlds, specifically the cruel goblins from Goblin Slayer.

But when he noticed that the "goblin" in front of him was actually wearing a red hat resembling a Christmas cap, he instantly let out a breath of relief. Because he recognized its identity.

Red Cap.

Classified by the British Ministry of Magic as: XXX This dwarf-like magical creature is commonly found in the trenches of ancient battlefields in Northern Europe, in castle dungeons, or in places stained with human blood. As long as there is bloodshed, you can find traces of them.

This kind of cruel creature is quite dangerous to lone Muggles and wizards. They often suddenly appear behind victims and use clubs to bash them to death.

But overall, Red Caps aren't too dangerous, it's mainly their appearance that is frightening.

Inside the classroom, quite a few girls were so frightened by its looks that they screamed out loud, and upon seeing this, Lockhart on the podium laughed even more joyfully.

What Link and the others didn't know was that this Red Cap had actually been borrowed by Lockhart from Professor Kettleburn, specifically to restore his lost reputation.

For this, he even paid a full box of his rare collectible Firewhisky to get from Kettleburn a method to quickly subdue a Red Cap: Red Caps have no magical resistance at all. Any damage-type spell can effectively subdue them.

Although years of writing and business life had severely weakened Lockhart's combat abilities, as a top student who had graduated with honors from Ravenclaw, Lockhart believed he could still take down a Red Cap.

Once he subdued this terrifying-looking monster, then those negative rumors about him at Hogwarts should vanish into thin air.

With that thought, Lockhart shook the wand in his hand and said cheerfully, "Don't be afraid, children, I'm here. This little fellow isn't that scary, watch me. Stupefy!"

A greyish ray shot out from the tip of Lockhart's wand.

You could tell Lockhart still had some foundational skill, at the very least, this Stupefy was cast quite well. His wand movement and incantation could almost be described as textbook-level.

Unfortunately, Lockhart clearly hadn't received proper aiming training. Even though the target was less than five meters away, he still missed.

Boom!

The gray light brushed past the Red Cap and slammed into the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.

"Gachak?"

The Red Cap scratched its head with a confused look, and the atmosphere in the classroom turned slightly awkward.

"Uh… That was an accident. Let me try again…"

Lockhart explained with an embarrassed smile, but before he could finish speaking, a trace of a sinister smile suddenly flashed across the Red Cap's face, which had been scratching its head just a moment ago.

"GAAAH!"

The Red Cap let out an enormous roar that was completely out of proportion with its size. Then, to everyone's shock, it picked up the box beneath it and ran behind Lockhart at an unnatural speed, smashing the box down hard.

Thud!

"AAH!"

The sound of a heavy hit and a scream rang out together, Lockhart immediately fell to the ground.

At that moment, the Red Cap licked the fresh blood that had just splashed onto its face with its tongue, wearing a sinister grin, then turned its cruel gaze toward the crowd below.

Only now did the Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws finally react. In an instant, screams and cries began echoing throughout the classroom.

Almost everyone stared in horror at the short, red-hatted creature on the podium. Only a very small number of people drew their wands, trying to resist.

But seeing their trembling hands, Link felt they probably didn't have much fighting ability.

Taking a deep breath, Link slowly stood up. His ebony wand was ejected from its holster and appeared automatically in his hand.

"Gahaha!"

On the podium, the Red Cap, still stained with Lockhart's blood, roared wildly and charged at the crowd.

Red Caps are naturally bloodthirsty creatures, and Lockhart's blood had only further awakened its violent instincts.

By now, it had completely lost all rationality. It only wanted to tear the humans in front of it into pieces to obtain more fresh blood.

But unfortunately, the Red Cap had forgotten one thing. On this planet, wizards are the apex of the food chain.

"Sectumsempra."

A cold voice came from Link's mouth, and under the horrified gazes of the others, the Red Cap, who had been charging forward, was suddenly cleaved cleanly in two, as if cut by an invisible sword.

Thud!

The upper half of the Red Cap's body fell heavily to the ground. A trace of confusion once again appeared on its face.

'Why did I suddenly fall? Why do I feel so sleepy?'

Everything happened too quickly. It hadn't even figured out what had just occurred.

But none of that mattered. Because it suddenly noticed a large pool of hot blood spreading rapidly beneath its body.

The Red Cap fought off the drowsiness and pressed its face to the ground, greedily licking the blood, only then did it slowly fall silent…
